I am really quite averse to the idea of Ben/Caspian singing in VDT. Especially in the form of a solo during the movie (too "Aragorn") or a pop song in the credits (as Icarus said, there are much better singers/groups out there) If he, Ed, and Lu were to sing with the crew, that would be O.K., if the production can do it right. Not that I can say what "Right" would be...

Hmmmm . . . I admit - I've seen "Easy Virtue" and I think Ben singing in that film really worked, especially since his voice suited that style of music, and he did sound really good. Him singing at the end of VDT I reckon it might be a little too jarring for the audience though.
I don't know about what Icarus suggested, but I found that kind of thing slightly of putting in "Lord of the Rings" as well, so it might just be me and my minority opinion there!

DON'T JINX IT, everyone!
That would be awful. It would ruin the movie (and the series), for sure.
I think it ould be awesome! since he can sing well, it would great if one of the characters could contrinbute to the songs in the movie!
actually, in The Return Of The King extended version (LOTR), there is a scene where Aragorn is healing Eowyn in The Houses of Healing and Liv Tyler (who played Arwen in LOTR) is sining in the backround!
so it's been done before.....

It's not singing that's bad it's how it's executed...a pop song in the credits would be horrific, or if he started doing some kind of preformance during the movie...only way it owuld be acceptable IMO would be Master and Commander style or him singing a story or poem very casually or something, if you get my meaning...
Can't you just see Ben breaking into one of those cute little choreographed dance maneuvers like his "band" had? And maybe the whole crew could start singing and dancing along. With a disco ball on the mast!
If it was an acoustic singing scene and to Ramadu's Daughter than I am all for it
I'm surprised that he can sing, I never knew that!
Well, I suppose you could call it singing ...
I hope he doesn't sing!! I don't even think he has that great of a voice, but thats just me.
I saw the movie....and was disappointed

I hope you're joking
I think they would do best not to include it at all...
i dont think is a good idea.
He sings good but i couldnt stand it if they put a song of him in VoTD. It would be just for the crazy fangirls.
I defenitly wouldnt like it
yeah the last thing we want is more fangurlism. He's way over-hyped as it is

I agree with you, DruidDream. First off for me, I even smirk at the idea of Ben singing for the film. (No offense intended to the actor. I'm sure you have an awesome voice, Ben!) Second, my friends would probably find him out-of-the-blue when I tell them. And third, my sister would say EWWWW!!!! and then criticize the actor. (I think my sister has a pet peeve of singing actors, I dunno. ) Plus my brother would be like "Why is he singing?" Last of all, fangirls would be dying of joy to hear him sing...I can't really imagine how that would happen...actually that's a creepy picture to me.
But if he were singing to woo or attract RD, that's a different story. It's an interesting way to attract someone. Or at least amuse. But yeah, I think he shouldn't sing. But we'll just have to find out for ourselves when the film releases.
I wouldn't mind it if it was in the credits, or similar to The Call in PC and make it some background music right at the end. But lets not randomly turn the series into a musical, although I can see it if the cast sung a sailing song just for fun... but no random musicalization. It has to fit in the script, otherwise leave it out.

"Voyage of the Disco Treader" and "Voyage of the Moon Walker" are the exact things that came to my mind when I read this.
But,ugh, that would be wrong in so many ways.
