I didnt see a thread for this but if there is you can delete this :)

I really loved this movie...besides this scene it bothered me. The look of the serpant was very good but the scene as a whole reminded me of the snake scene in the second Harry Potter. Any thoughts???

When the sea serpant "opened up"....I was sooooooooo creeped out..

I didn't like how someone said, "don't think of your worst nightmare, it will come to life." Of course when you say not to think of something, a person will think of it....
And Edmund of course does. :|

And since when is Ed afraid of Sea Serpants? Did I miss something in the books/movies?

I agree, nothing ever showed him being afraid of sea serpants- he always (in the movie) acted as if he didnt believe in them, not that he was scared of them. it was just odd

I thought it was more of a "the first scary thing that pops into your head will come to life" situation, more than "Edmund's greatest fear."

It scared some children, lol. I am in doubt of liking it or not cause:

1.) It is definitely scary, but too scary for some kids under 13 to watch
and
2.) It took more time than any of more important scenes to be shown.

So.... I didn't much like it.

The sea serpent scene was good but I didn't find it the least bit frightening, nor would I probably have, even as a child. If it scared some kids, that's okay. It's meant to be a little freaky. I think we sometimes shelter kids from scary stuff. Yes, by all means don't let them get petrified but a little scare here and there, with the loving arms of loved ones to return to when all is said and done, is good for a child. They need to experience different emotions. Some may even enjoy a bit of a fright.

It was too cartoonish for me to feel scared by it. I guess it's appropriate for them to use it as a kind of climax as there's no real climax in the book but I hate the whole cheesy idea of having the evil of the green mist takes the form of "their worst nightmare" and I was particularly bothered that they made Ed the one who "created" the serpent

I found the Sea Serpant more gross than scary. Especially when it opened itself up.

^Oh that part, I agree. I was eating that time and partly it made me lose my appetite. It's like more of a sea serpent to me, :|

I really didn't like the sea serpent scene at all. It was scary, but not the right sort of scary for the Dark Island. The Dark Island was supposed to be kind of creepy, like the things they were thinking of might be there, and they might not, and the uncertainty could drive you crazy.
Also, I didn't like the idea of Eustace-the-dragon fighting the sea serpent. The fight just went on for far too long.

I enjoyed the sea serpent fight very much, I think it is a definite improvement to just pushing it off the end(no offense Lewis). It was very well animated and didn't drag on forever.
