[Closed] Scenes that appeared in the trailers but not the movie

In The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the theatrical trailer showed a finished shot of the infamous coronation dance sequence, the scene for which VFX were never completed to save on budget. That scene never resurfaced on DVDs, Blu-Rays or even extended editions, and remains unseen by Narnia fans to this day. However, we know pretty much what happens in the scene through little details in the movie companion and audio commentaries.

In Prince Caspian, the Ben Barnes production blog showed a shot from the infamous Susan/Caspian crossbow scene. This scene never appeared in the final film, but a full description of it appeared in a novelization of the movie. Narnia fans were finally able to watch it 7 months later on the Prince Caspian DVD.

In the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the teaser trailer showed a Peter/Susan/Edmund/Lucy scene that baffled all NarniaWebbers, including myself. I was incredibly curious to see what role the scene would play in the film, but after watching it I realized the scene had been cut. And unlike in PC and LWW, I think we still don't have a clue as to where, when, why, and how this scene fits into the movie.

What are your thoughts on the mysterious PSEL scene, and are there any other scenes you noticed in the trailers but not in the movie?

I think we've come to the conclusion that the shot discussed above was filmed solely for the trailer and not meant to be in the film at all. The set is really bizarre; with random pillars, drapes and thrones. It's like Caspian's "I am Prince Caspian" line in the PC trailer...no place in the film whatsoever.

I had a feeling this trailer shot wouldn't be included in the movie, like the Caspian/Su crossbow scene in the PC movie. At the very least, I thought this scene would be where Peter & Susan's cameo fits in. But it's not? How strange... :-

(Shhh, I haven't seen the movie so I shouldn't be in this thread. :-$ :p )

I think its horrible that they kept showing this in the trailer when it had no position in the movie.

Btw, did anyone see the movie's end credits? I never was able to because they stopped the movie so we could take a survery. I know they used Pauline's illustrations, but I'm wondering if maybe they intercut it with live action footage. If so, I can maybe see this shot being used in the end credits.

Although I felt like it was filmed only for the trailer, maybe it is a genuine deleted scene. Who knows.

Ah, that's right! I had forgotten about the famously overused "I am Prince Caspian" line. xD

The same thing happened to me, Josh. That's an interesting idea...perhaps there's even a post-credits scene that none of us had seen.

If this scene was shot specifically to appear in the trailers though, why didn't we see it more? It only appeared in the teaser trailer and the wimpy kid trailer, as far as I can remember.

no it's not in the credits, I watched the whole thing. (actually the credits are lovely little animated versions of pauline baynes original illustrations)
I too am absolutely clueless where/how it could have fitted in :-

Grief for the movies made me abandon narniaweb...but I'm so glad to be back!
Many thanks to the wonderful Lady Eowyn for making my sig/av.

Not terribly surprised that this scene wasn't in the film. With everything we had heard about the plot, there really was no place where the scene could have fit. I had thought it might possibly be in a dream, perhaps Caspian's, but I think we should all be happy that at least one pointless Susan & Will cameo was nixed. :)

Originally when we heard Eustace calling the Pevensies "orphans" and we thought that they were making VotDT the last movie (with LotGK as the main villain), there were rumors that the Pevensie parents had died and in the final scene the 4 Pevensies were brought to reunite with them in Aslan's Country. Could this have been an alternate ending to the series?

Josh, No I don't think so... I'm pretty sure that rumor started here on the forums, and Apted explained that the "orphans" part had nothing to do with their parents dying, but because Eustace was just picking on them since their parents left them behind to go to America.

I guess...I don't see why they would do that though, because then if the film was successful, they wouldn't be able to make The Silver Chair.

The more I think about it the more it makes sense that this scene would be filmed just for the trailers. That's quite a bit step further in dishonesty, though, than simply using misleading editing or a lying narrator. Presenting Peter & Susan in Narnian garb like they appear in the movie in Narnia is such a bogus representation of the film. For the "I am Prince Caspian" line, that was something that appeared twice in the movie, but both those times the line wasn't delivered in a way that would work very well for a trailer. So I don't mind if they did that. I have a huge problem, though, with them filming entire scenes that they have no intention of putting in the movie.

I just don't like how it was used to mislead the audience into thinking that Peter and Susan appeared in Narnia.

For instance had the shot of Peter and Susan been replaced by shots of Caspian and Eustace I wouldnt mind because I would see the shot as merely advertising the 4 main characters.

What they have instead is just lying. It would be like showing Jill and Eustace in a Horse and His Boy trailer.

Josh, I completely agree, but don't be surprised when they really do show up in the HHB trailer.

^And snow! ;)

I really don't mind this scene, but why in the world bother making it? Yeah, it's meant for advertising, but it such a weird scene. Oh, the things people will do to put cameos in a trailer... :p

I am a bit baffled by why they did it. Did they really think it wouldn't get out onto the internet that Peter and Susan are never in Narnia? /:) Plus there's the risk of it backfiring on them and enraging the Anna and Will fans.
