But I refuse to feel bad for seeing a film, and encouraging friends to see a film, that I honestly did like.
That's what I tried to clarify at the beginning. Giving the film good word of mouth is totally fine, in fact, it's what can propel a film to great heights, as you said. It was the perceived attitude of going to see VDT just for the sake of contributing to its box office that I thought looked futile and pointless. You said that you agree with me on that though, so that seems fine.
I noted at the end that I didn't like the film because I wanted to say that, even though I didn't like it, I still gave it financial support. It's not like I'm boycotting it or anything and trying to convince everybody else to do the same.
Your multiplication above is correct, but you are failing to take exponential increase into account...also, you're forgetting that if a friend likes a film very much, it is likely that they'll tell other friends, which may then lead to them seeing the film and telling their friends and so on...
The exponential factor works both ways, though. Of the first group of people, the hard-core fans who have brought along their friends, 100% of them like the movie. The percentage of the friends who like the film enough to actually go out and see it again with more friends is most likely very low, probably less than 20%. Of those people who bring along more friends, probably less than 20% will go on to see it again and so on and so forth. So from one group of people to the next, the repeating viewers will decrease exponentially.
I enjoyed the VDT film, therefore I want to support it. I want them to make the Silver Chair! Whether we like it or not, that's not going to happen, if the VDT doesn't do well!! That's the material point.
This is not about making the filmmakers rich, but about supporting the Narnia films.
Films of quality and with good values deserve to be supported, in my view!! There are enough silly films out there, which my small pupils watch! I'm happy to recommend VDT to them!! It has at least some substance, and some sound values!
This thread is called "Save Silver Chair".
I want to encourage all, who want SC to be made into a film, to continue to support the VDT film. And thanks for everything, a lot of you have done already!
I've only seen it once in theaters. I am definitely planning on getting the DVD when it comes out! Probably would have seen it more than once if I hadn't been so disappointed in it 😐 (Yes, I'm a book purist. Hope they don't ruin SC, although I'd really like to see it made.)

Seen it thrice and I'm writing a letter. It probably wont do much but it is worth a shot! SC has GOT TO BE MADE!!! Its my favourite and definatly the most magical!
Narnia is childhood...
Seriously, just give the kid the orange. He needs his vitamin C!
