I agree. Potter will be over. And if Silver Chair does get made, and does at least moderately well at the box office, we practically have a Magician's Nephew film in our hands. I mean, they honestly considered skipping over the Silver Chair to make Magician's Nephew!!!

Another thing I noticed just now, was that the movie Clash of the Titans was made with a budget of 135 million dollars. So I'm thinking that they could probably cut down the budget of The Silver Chair with out to many adverse effects to the special effects.

And Magician's Nephew will be considerably easier to advertise. They can just slap Tilda Swinton on all the posters and not have to lie when they say, "The White Witch will rise." :p

I doubt it, since they didn't do this for LWW, PC, or VDT. :p

Let's all go and see the movie as many times as we can, AND take different people each time. I have taken two groups of 10 so far....

Word of mouth advertising in person and in churches or other groups - let them know it's a great film! Suitable for children, just as the books were written for children.

WOW you are awesome. I went once with my sister, and twice with groups of six....and I thought I was doing well. You are def doing your part! :)

I can only afford to see it one more time. I will hopefully go over the christmas break with my twin brothers. i wish I had more money cause then I would just take ppl to see the movie. oh well. Another time (hopefully).

To be honest, if they aren't going to stay close to the book, I don't want them to do it. But on the other hand, I want them to do it. However, at the end of VotDT movie, they mention Jill Pole, foreshadowing for TSC movie. I heard that if franchise goes well, there will be more movies. I think the mentioning of Jill offers slight assurance that there might be more Narnia movies. #:-s

I brought the youth group to see Dawn Treader and was surprised by one of the comments a teen made: "I'm not sure I want to see another movie if none of the four children from the first movie are going to be in it."

This statement rocked my world, and woke me up to how people who have never read the books view the franchise. Quite frankly, they don't know that taking Lucy and Ed out of the next movie means that we can bring in Jill, a spunky and (evidently) amazingly popular character. I firmly believe that if the girl from my youth group had read all of the books, she would be asking for Silver Chair. (One of the boys in the same group was trying to convince her that the rest of the stories are great and will be just fine without the Pevencies. I went on to point out that, in fact, the Pevenices are in two more films, -a fact you simply wouldn't know if you'd only seen the movies.)

All this simply means that if we want the movies to continue, then we HAVE to get some buzz started about the books. And who better to get that buzz going than NarniaWeb? (Thank goodness these films are being made by Walden, a company that encourages children to read.) So I'm going to start a campaign to get people to read the books.

Yes, it starts with encouraging people to see the film, and by seeing it yourself as many times as is practical, but I think that ultimately the reason that VDT isn't doing well as hoped is because there aren't very many people who've read it, -and even fewer who are excited about it. What Narnia needs is some Harry Potter sized buzz, so lets get it started!

Step 1: Encourage people to see the film of Dawn Treader. Box Office dollars are the best way to ensure The Silver Chair and the rest of the films.

Step 2: If people aren't sure they want to see the film, then you can at least point them towards some of the awesome websites about the film. (Narnia.com for the movie buffs and gamers, NarniaCharacters.com, Narniaweb.com or Narniafans.com for the readers, Narniafaith.com or www.operationnarnia.org for church members.) These websites have information about the films that would be useful to someone unfamiliar to the franchise.

Step 3: Encourage people to read the books. Give them to friends for Christmas. Tell them to get it from the library.

Step 4: For those of you who are still in school, ask your teachers if you can read/study them as a class. If you are older and have friends who are teachers, encourage them to do the same. Also, point them to Walden.com, where they provide study guides for all of their movies. Ask your youth pastor or childrens' minister to do a study on Narnia. (Again, this is where Narniafaith.com is a valuable resource.)

The Narnia books are great stories, and all we have to do is get people to start reading them. (Start reading it to your friends if you have to. It won't take much to get them interested, I'm sure.)

Movie Aristotle, I agree. One of the main problems we're having right now is that few people have read any beyond LWW. Maybe if we started contests or something, some sort of challenge like a race to get the book done or essay contests maybe... I don't know, but we need to do something. Seriously if you all know any teachers get them to study the other books. I like this whole giving them as a gift to everybody, I might do so myself if I can scrape up the cash...

EDIT!

Oh I just had a thought what if we or NW or somebody started a facebook event, a challenge to read one of the other 6 books in one week. The only rule would be that you couldn't use The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Seriously if NW doesn't do that I just might. We could invite all our freinds and they could invite their freinds, etc. at least it'd help a little.

My brother did complain that "Peter and Susan were not in VDT" (duh...they were, in fact Susan gets several scenes!).

If they need to have the Pevensies in SC, I am pretty sure they can find a way to do so without altering the plot. They can include them in flashbacks. They can even put them in the promotional posters.

Anything to make sure SC happens. And the other 3 as well.

Okay, if Gulliver's Travels is made by FOX and does well, doe sthis mean they'll have enough money to do VDT. Heard both FOX and WALDEN MEDIA wanted to continue the series.
