Truthfully, I probably will see it because I am a big fan of the Narnia series. I have always loved CS Lewis and the Narnia series. I read all seven books once a year at least and there isn't anything about those seven books that I don't know. So yeah, I probably will go see it. I saw Prince Caspian even though there were changes I still am not sure about.
I want them to make the last 4 movies but I really would love for Douglas Gresham to have a bigger role in their making so that they remain as true to the source material as is possible. I do realize that this isn't always going to be possible because Lewis left a lot to the imagination. It was just the way he wrote versus someone like Tolkein who put in every detail possible. So yeah the movie makers do take some creative license and I understand that but some of what it appears they have added doesn't seem to jive with the original.
With that said, I will likely make time next weekend to go see it. Thanks for the encouragement Aslan. I appreciate hearing that.
I hope they make SC, it is my favorite aside from LB. And Jill is such a wonderful character, as well as seeing the nicer Eustace throughout a whole film. And having seen DT and with the promoting being good and film release timing being spot on, I don't see why they woudn't as I'm sure DT will do well.

We can only hope and pray that DT does well enough for silver chair to be green lighted

I really want SC to be made. And I agree, just bc VDT was a bad adaptation, it doesn't mean that SC will be.

The directors/producers think that more action in Narnia equals a bigger audience, but if they did the movies the right way (a.k.a. to the books) they would get more fans and book readers to watch the movies.
In the LWW movie there was alot of action but barely strayed from the book. If you look at the "box office gross income" numbers or whatever its called, LWW got the most and the others just kept going down! If they stay with the books they will get more fans to go. And when they add plots (like this last movie) I get the feeling that the directors/producers think the Narnia books don't have enough action! That might not be so but you get my point... right?
edit: I do want them to continue the movies only if they follow the books.
I am trying to convince everyone I know to go watch it. But it is not always possible.
We NEED to get the rest of the movies made.
I wish someone would start with something other than LWW for once. Even if it is a stage play adaptation or a made for TV movie or the sort.
Sadly, the bottom line is money.

-Convince everyone to see VDT

I took my friend and when I go home for Christmas, I will be taking my sisters and mom to it. Thought it was a great movie and want them to make The Silver Chair ASAP.
I saw it with a friend and will be taking my sisters and mom to it over Christmas. Great movie and hope they greenlight The Silver Chair ASAP!
I love these movies and it makes me sad that so many people don't see how wonderful they really are. Maybe it's because I've read the books and listened to the audio drama...maybe it's because I liked Narnia some before I saw the movies. I don't know, but I wish that these movies would be more popular. Seeing the negative comments and lack of publicity about the movies makes me worry they won't keep making them Yes some of the changes the producers have made are not the best but over all I think they still kept the wonderful Narnian feeling and that's what really counts isn't it?
Thanks to Shastafan for the Signature and thanks to lizzyhenley009 for the avatar.
Guys, we've GOT to help SC along! What can we do to convince the producers to make the other 4 Narnia films?? Help me!

I think that the ONLY way to convince them to make the other four narnia films is to show them that it would be a profitable decision to do so. So go see the Narnia movie again and again in theaters and PREORDER your DVD as soon as possible.
Buy copies of the first two (PC AND LWW) for ppl for Christmas, buy people copies of the the books (especially the remaining four) to get ppl excited about the movies.
I saw VDT three times on opening weekend. I am seeing at least two more times. I want it to be successful so we need to see it on the next few weekends so that its weekend to weekend drops aren't big. I am hopeing for a less than 30% second weekend drop. If it drops too much second weekend then theaters will stop showing it and then we are done for.
Just to quickly quote myself from the other now closed topic...
And if Walden Media don't do Silver Chair, then i can't honestly see what they as a company are going to do, because they haven't put together a single other film which has been critically or financially successful.... Would they really continue as they are whilst sitting on the one viable cinematic property they own and doing nothing with it? I think they need Narnia almost as much as Narnia needs them.
Kind of just to prove my point, i was looking at a few stats for some of Walden Media's other movies, and to be honest it makes for some pretty embarrassing reading - most of them make VDT's performance look out of this world.
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises ... nmedia.htm
Here are a select few from the moderately high budgeted range, and broadly of a fantasy genre. Perhaps i'm being unkind in picking out the real stinkers, but then i'm also going with the Worldwide rather than the Domestic boxoffice, just because otherwise it looks really bad on them.
City of Ember
Budget: 55m
Worldwide Boxoffice: 17.9m
The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising
Budget: 45m
Worldwide Boxoffice: 31.4m
Around the World in 80 Days
Budget: 110m
Worldwide Boxoffice: 72m
Anyway, the point is that i'm not trying to stick the boot into Walden Media or mock any of those films, but rather to make the point that despite VDT's under-performance throwing Silver Chair into doubt, Walden Media really haven't got anything better to be investing their money in than Narnia. Given their track record, Silver Chair is as close to a "sure thing" as they have got - making it would seem like a no-brainer to me, regardless of how VDT ends up doing/
Admittedly i would still say that movies like HHB and LB will now forever be financially beyond the reach of a company like Walden Media, given the rate of boxoffice decline and the extremely high costs it would take to make either of those books into movies, but Silver Chair would seem to be very achievable on a 100m-ish budget and would surely turn a moderate profit on that as well.
I was just thinking that another point that might convince them to do a 4th movie, is that Harry Potter will be finished by the time the Silver Chair comes out. That means that the only fantasy competition for this movie is Thor and the Hobbit. So in the kids fantasy department they should do very well. It means that worldwide they won't have to go up against the rabid Potter fans, some of who really hate Narnia.
