^^Ya thats it! I'm sure thats it. It fool Narnia fans day (or week, how long are they going to keep this up?) !!!!
Even I'm not that hopeful. I still think it will be at least as good as PC.

I think that being negative is a viable option. I don't tell people that they need to be negative, so i don't think that anyone should say that people should be positive.
We are going to nitpick. That is what the thread is for. To state your opinion on the news and negativity seems to me to be just as valid of an opinion as being positive.

Can we lay off the offensive words please? Isnt this supposed to be a family forum?
Okay, I'll substitute "The lines spoken by Aslan are lacking in grace, style and intelligence. Instead of original thoughts worthy of the masterpiece creation of C. S. Lewis we instead have been presented with the sort of language typified by the generic statements of fortune cookies. They have no music, no soul, no life. They are stale, lifeless, hackneyed, withered beyond redemption."
I like the point Valiant made. If the whole seven swords thing was handled the way the four thrones were, I could accept it. It would make sense. The swords wouldn't be important, it would be the actions taken to recover them that would be. That would fit far better into the storyline of the book than randomly magical glowing swords that kill evil smoke monster islands.
The clips that Eustace quoted the report on sounds wonderful. Everything we could have hoped for. The characters are in character, behaving like they did in the book. Sure it's not a direct word-for-word copy of the book, but that isn't necessary. If the whole movie were that faithful to the book, I'd probably go see it a dozen times. That's why I am so confused by and yes, angered, by the rest of what we've learned. It's as if someone who actually cared about the book wrote the first third of the script and some generic fantasy hack came along and wrote the rest. As much as was changed in PC, the movie still followed the same basic storyline of the book, with the exception of bringing the Pevensies in earlier. This doesn't even sound like the book anymore. If this is what they do to VDT, what will SC look like when we've already heard grumblings from them about it being a "walking and talking" book.
So does this news seem to suggest that Ramandu's daughter does not take a bigger part in the story? I mean we know she is the star they follow, but it doesn't seem that they meet her until Ramandu's island right before the dark island battle.

Some people have commented on how they think that Reepicheep's "perhaps we can throw him back in" line is out of character. In the book he says "Am I to understand that this singularly discourteous person is under your Majesty's protection? Because, if not-" but then is interrupted. I think he would have challenged him to a duel with the end result being Eustace's body being thrown back in. Although I think Reepicheep would have liked to skip that first step. My point is that even though it is out of character, it's only slightly so and I think we can let it slide.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! *bangs head on desk* Why, why, why, why, WHYYYYY?!?!?!!?!? *deep breath* Okay, so I don't have time to say everything I want to about this report, but I thought I'd comment on The White Witch. *dun dun duuuunnnn* WHY are they doing this to us? For crying out loud, I don't CARE if she's won an Oscar! The White Witch is NOT supposed to be there! *sob sob* WHYYY! *sobs some more* Ugh.....she's becoming the Palpatine of Narnia! (in case you don't know, they kept bringing the Emperor back in the Star Wars books....did ya'll know he had a million clones?) *deeper breath* Ya'll just watch, Tash is going to be her reincarnation....ugh. Oh, two more things that everyone's freaking about: Edmund and Caspian both being attracted the RD....I really don't think there's anything to worry about. A guy can think a girl's pretty without actually falling in love with her....at least I assume they can (Guys? Can they?). :/ So I really don't think there's anything to worry about. Course, that's what we all said about Suspian....which brings me to the other thing. "Susan, I've got you!" Again, I really don't think this is anything to worry about. I think this could possibly be funny (depending on how he says it), but I seriously don't think we all need to freak because of one line....if he starts dreaming about her, asking Lucy about her, wondering where she is....if he has to "overcome his love for Susan so he can move on with his life and marry RD".....yeah. Then we can freak out. But right now, I think it's going to be fine....just my thoughts.

I am not too worried about the movie. I now have reviewed the second clip. Here it is:
Clip #2
During the Dawn Treader voyage at sea, there’s a shortage of food (and tempers) on the ship.I wish they were correct to the book and there was a shortage of water.Reepicheep catches Eustace stealing an orange.Hurrah! At least they have Eustace trying to steal something. Eustace denies it. Eustace grabs Reepicheep by the tail, and Reepicheep tells Eustace in no uncertain terms, "No one touches the tail!" Reepicheep challenges Eustace to a sword duel. During the fight, Reepicheep uses his sword to pluck the orange out from Eustace’s clothes, where he was hiding it.At least Eustace sorta of swings Reep by his tail. Although, I wish he really did that. At least he is not trying to push him off the boat, as some of us were afraid of. I am overall encouraged by this clip. They will make a repeat LWW yet.
Bookwyrm,
First, a side note: I have less issues with Aslan's dialogue being cheesy than I do Coriakin's.
But anyway, I think we both feel the same confusion. We're hearing great feedback from people's overall thoughts on the film, and we're wondering, "How can this be when this doesn't even sound like the book?"
glumPuddle and I discussed this on the podcast last night. If we had run the White Witch story on April 1st, it would have been so extreme no one would have fallen for it.

The UGO guy mentioned Stardust in connection with Lilliandil. Why does this have to happen?!
Why is Narnia always relegated to being an imitation when, in fact, it came before anything else?!!! Most of the books were published already when The Lord of the Rings came out. But the movies make Narnia look like an imitation of LOTR, HP, Stardust, Tim Burton.... WHY?!

amen to that! I think that him wanting to throw him back in is just a more blunt version of what he says in the book! hurray!

^ I agree with Dinode on Reepicheeps line. That is most deffinitely in character for him at that moment! Right now I'm really worried for Caspian's character. He's still the same ding bat. He needs to grow up!

What offensive words?
There are some small things in there that bother me but that I can probably let slide, especially if there are bigger things to worry about. I don't like that Edmund seems attracted to Lilliandil, or that Reep sees Aslan before he takes of to Aslan's country, or that Edmund sticks his tounge out at his uncle, etc. But compared to my annoyance at the White Witch and the seven swords and everything, I'm not as bothered.
Ist very confusing because we are getting a lot of positive feed back on VDt and people are saying this could be the best Narnia film yet. And at the same time we are getting this information! Very little positive. Eustace and Reepicheep have been nailed though, I think. I'm at least happy about that. *sigh*

I hope they don't take it as far as a full blown Love Triangle (but I wouldn't bet on it.) However I don't even like the idea that Edmund is attracted to Lilliandil. Its just annoying that they are adding all these things. But as I said before, as annoying as it is, I can let it slide.

Maybe Lucy only said enough of the beauty spell to see what she would look like if she finished it.
Actually, my thought was that before she even says the spell, the book changes her reflection to show how she will look; as part of the temptation.
From what they are telling us, I think Edmund is being a bit of a jerk. Yes, he doesn't like Eustace in the book, but he isn't a bully. Obviously it may not come off that way in the movie so I'm still hopeful.
I don't think he will come of as a bully. After all, Eustace doesn't seem intimidated, does he? And remember that in the 2nd VBS clip we saw a few weeks back, Edmund has a very repentant scene right after Eustace gets lost on Goldwater Island. That's only like midway through movie, and I doubt he will have any serious relapses after that.

Well, she's supposed to be one of the most beautiful girls ever...more than likely Edmund, a normal guy, would find her pretty.

^^ Well, there is a difference between finding someone attractive, having a crush on them, and having a romance with them. It looks like Edmund might have a crush. Its not just attraction. I mean, I can think my mother is attractive. That just means I think she is pretty.
IDK, it just seems so cheesy.

I hope your right. It may not come off that way in the movie when I actually see it.No Eustace does not seem Intimidated, your right!
