Can't believe nobody has started a thread on this yet.
Ok, so, what do you all think of the new Reep banner? I have mixed feelings on the picture of Reep (being overtly critical mind you, I'm thrilled to see him on there!). But I'm madly in love with that blue background. :D
Opinions?

Thanks fk, I'll re-post my comment from the story...
If I remember correctly, most of the shots of Reep in PC were dimly lit or forested scenes. Assuming this shot is taken from aboard the Dawn Treader, it will be a much brighter and therefore lighter shot. Just a thought. Regardless, I like the added detail and I like de-tail (jk – couldn’t resist).

Lost in the woods and weary he looked into the night sky and a voice spoke to him, "As long as the moon shines, I will be with you. The day the moon no longer shines, you will be with Me."

I Love Reep’s new pic! He is so cute (I hope he didn't hear me say that)! ;) :D I agree with meldred that they may have changed the lighting for a particular shot in the movie. :)

Here are PC and VDT Reep’s pictures.

I most definitely love the new picture more then the one in PC. He's too out of focus on the PC poster. The new one looks more detailed as if not in a hurry. I'm hoping based on this picture that the movie as well is not rushed and is well thought over. Perfecto :D :D

I think this Reep looks aged.
White bearded?
I like it.

I thought it was a great "first" piece to release. Reep's probably the character that everyone will find the most familiar from PC so it creates a link in peoples' minds to the previous movie. Not to mention his role being fairly central in the book. The color is great as it makes you think "water" as soon as you see it. I think the use of a CGI Reep instead of concept art like on the PC poster is also a good sign as it means they are probably progressing with the CGI for the movie. Might mean we see Reep in the trailer.

He looks great! Definitely aged somewhat. His expression in this photo looks a bit lifeless, but that doesn't really worry me as I would tend to think it's just this photo. I did notice that his proportions seemed a bit wonky, but the more I look the more I think it's the angle of the shot rather than the character design.

This is very exciting! Bring on the marketing material!

Pardon me everyone, but has anyone besides me thought that his fur may appear lighter because he is in the sun? This is a voyage and when animals go out in front of a sun during a different season their fur tend to get lighter or look lighter. My pets do it. ;)

That was my first thought, actually, Damsel. I doesn't look to me as if his fur color is changed except for the gray around his mouth and eyes. It is a very bright photo, he's bound to look lighter.

On a side note, I certainly hope they aren't planning to send out this banner just as it is. It looks a little boring and cheap, imo.

Edit: The second after I wrote this I realized that they probably intend on making this a sort of "3D" banner, and have Reep popping out of the top of it, which would make it look a lot less boring and cheap. Don't know how I didn't think of that at first. L-)

I think it's a sort of gimmick. True Narnia fans know that Peter and Susan aren't coming back and I think having only Lucy and Edmund will make kids not want to see it and by showing Eustace with them they'll be like "Who's that kid!?" and with Caspian on it they'll think "Oh so I suppose he'll go for Lucy now, Lucy better stay in Narnia then." :p

I love the blue background- it automatically made me think of a summer-y, seaside, adventure, which is what VDT is, except for we get to see it in winter. ;)) Ah well. ;)

Personally, I think that Reepicheep's more aged look gives him a more noble, bold, and wise feel to him and that is why I like him better.

Just a side note: If they purposely wanted to give Reepicheep that "aged" look - which, as I have said, makes his countenance look more distinguished - then that would probably explain why they decided to change voices for Reepicheep as well. A reasonable assumption is it not?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Oh well, a winter release is for the best.

It's possible Reep's fur is lighter because of the sun, but I think it's more likely they've aged him. As long as he stays cool (not hobbling around, using his rapier as a cane), I don't think I'll have a problem with it as it's probably just a way to show the passage of time (similar to Caspian's beard).

Grrrrr. Why has the subtitle font reverted back to the LWW font again? I thought they had fixed that, especially with the way it gives undue prominence to the second "THE".

Also, im not sure Reepicheep has changed in any way. I remember it frequently being a problem in the build-up to PC that Reeps appearence (fur colour/facial structure/etc) would appear drastically different in different shots depending on the lighting/camera angle/etc. Take this photo below from near the end of PC for example....

The most valiant mouse I have ever come to know looks great in the image. The closeup appears to me to have a lot of depth to him. Details are probably going to be there that were not seen before - HD will give us allowance to scrutiny of everything on levels beyond what was first seen in LWW or PC.

Is there digital grading for valiant cuteness?

“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
