I rated it a 4. Although it has some changes that I don't like, I still loved this film! :D

I voted a 4. It's not the best adaptation, I admit. But putting all the book changes aside, I still think it's a great movie. I think the visuals and the scenery would have to be my favorite, and I did like certain elements of the character development and the plot. Plus, in my opinion, Eustace was just amazing. :p

I LOVED Dawn Treader. I think it was AMAZING, and I'm looking forward to April 8! There were obviously a few things I would have done slightly differently, or added a couple things, but I think that it was VERY VERY VERY good!

When I was done with the film I felt it was the best one yet. Reading the negitive reactions here on NarniaWeb made me wonder if I ought to rethink my take on it, but fortunately this review sums up my feelings pretty well. http://www.decentfilms.com/reviews/narnia3 I really felt that the scripting was much better than PC and that they did a really nice job of bringing out the characterizations. I could have done without the green mist, and the battle at the end certainly changed the tone, but the final scene with Aslan was the best yet! I also think dropping the accents was a huge improvement!

Interestingly, my parents who aren't particularly familiar with the book's individual story lines both enjoyed it and said that we should rent it when it came out on DVD, something they didn't say after PC.

I tell no one any story but his own - Aslan

SecondRose, how do you figure that VDT had a better script than PC? PC's was infinetly better. Even if Peter's character was changed somewhat, the actual movie was rather good and true to the spirit of the book.

I voted three. The pacing was too quick. I wasn`t a fan of the green mist. Some of the lines in the movie were not very good. I enjoyed the dream sequence of Lucy becoming Susan. Lucy`s character arc was perhaps one of the things I liked best about the movie. Although I hoped for a more emotionally driven performance from Georgie. The transition from England to Narnia was nice. The movie did have some good moments. I preferred LWW and PC. I`m sorry that Disney dropped the franchise. I can`t help but wonder how much better the movie could have been if it remained under Andrew`s direction. Oh well..

I'm pretty much with SecondRose on this.

Before actually seeing the movie, I'd seen several reviews of some of the Narniawebbers who had found mid-night screenings to attend, and some of them were very, very negative (pretty much to the point where it couldn't get much worse). This lessened my excitement for the movie by a very large amount. I wasn't looking forward to the movie I was all hyped up about for two years (ask my friends).

Then I saw the movie.

Wait what?! It was GOOD?! I actually really liked it. Unlike the first two movies, I found that this movie had a Narnian feel to it; the feeling I had when reading the book. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Now, I'm not saying the film was perfect, but for the most of it, I loved what they had done with it.

When watching LWW nowadays, I usually skip right to my favourite scenes (beginning 20 minutes + last 30 minutes of the movie). Prince Caspian holds several favourite scenes for me, but not as many as LWW. Now, VDT actually has a lot of moments that I really enjoyed and love to re-watch!

My favourite scene in the chronicles is probably the undragoning. Yes, it was somewhat dumbed down from the book, but I'm still speechless watching it; it's so beautiful!

For me, VDT gets a 5 for having a lot of my favourite parts of the book come alive on-screen. Even if they were somewhat altered.

1, most definitely. I am presently writing an AU fanfic for VODT and it's making me realize even more how terrible the movie was. For my PC AU I was able to follow the movie pretty well with some fleshing out. To write a coherent and interesting VODT fic not only will I be changing more, but I am actually pulling from the leaked script just so things will make sense! I am not taking any dialogue from Coriakin's scene, and just for pacing I have to create an entirely new island after Dragonwater. It's a frustrating process and really brings out the fact that I disliked almost every line of dialogue in the movie except for Eustace's. So yes, VODT gets a lower rating from me now than it did when I first watched it.

I'd give it a 2/5. At the very best, a 5/10.

Although the effect seems to be "I didn't like it, but now I do" it's a little reverse for me. When back from the theatre, I would have given it probably a 4 but now I'm going to say 2. Maybe even 1. Would I watch this movie over Prince Caspian? Yes. But only because of a certain something... At some parts VDT, to put it in my sister's words, sometimes made my gut lurch, thinking "Oh man...they did that, really?" :P I will watch it again though and with an open mind, but I do wish that they stuck closer to the book.

EDIT:
I must say, one of the factors that put me off was the last scene-- the only one who seemed to care about Aslan was Lucy. I was dying to see a good bye scene between Edmund and Aslan, and Edmund didn't even give him a second look! Even if it was cheesy, I might have cried. To be honest, though, I was disappointed with that scene. The only thing that brought me to tears was Eustace and Reepicheep saying good-bye, and Reep's dedicatement to Aslan. But it's so sad there was no connection between Edmund and Aslan throughout the movie.
However, the last last scene when they're back in their world and the water goes lower is beautiful; I would watch the movie again solely for watching that part. :)

I don't know if I could say it was TERRIBLE, so I gave it a 2. It was worse than both LWW and PC. There were good points (Eustace was good, and I liked the designing of the ship, to name a few), but overall the movie was ruined by overly used and stereo-type effects and methods in an attempt to add epic-ness (who made up that word? :) ), mystery, and adventure. That made the movie a failure. :(

I really enjoyed the movie. 5/5 movie, 2.5/5 adaption. I think that this movie had the most Narnian feel about it- and it WASN'T trying to be big and epic like PC and LWW (perhaps to copy LOTR and the like). The pacing WAS too fast, the Green Mist needs explaining, and the seven swords also needs a quick explanation (not as quick as: "Aslan gave these swords to Narnia...") :P

...Coriakin- is there a way to write his EVUL lines outta the movie? No? Well... I can live with it. :P
