My opinion keeps changing. When I first saw it in theaters I thought it was great. Then I watched it again today and it was an "eh". I noticed a lot of changes from the book, some that had to be made but others were obviously for commercial reasons. I loved the emotion in the last scene of saying goodbye to such a fantastic place with the song "The Call", and that has to have been my favorite part. I did not enjoy Suspian.

I can't really vote. The parts I didn't like about PC I dislike even more now (the kiss/flirtation, some of the lines, Peter's attitude; the lack of real understanding between Peter and Caspian) but the things I liked I appreciate even more now (the acting, the script, Edmund, the pacing). It's still second after LWW for me, but infinitely better than VODT.

I disliked certain parts of it initially, but in light of VDT, I'm considering it a better movie than VDT and liking it a bit more. If VDT hadn't been made I would probably still dislike PC and favor LWW over both of them.

I haven't viewed it since I watched it in the theatre on opening day. I don't own it and don't plan on buying it and have no desire to ever watch it again. Similar to how I expect I'll feel about VDT when I watch it later today.

I really enjoyed it when I first watched it, and every time I watch it I like it more and more. Definitely the best of the three in terms of special effects and CGI. I also think the soundtrack for this film is the best of the three... As for adaptation, still not as good as LWW, but it's a lot closer than VDT. I loved the fact that the telmarines were given their own culture. I really liked the trees when they entered the battle, but it would have been nice if they included the seen with Bacchus right before. Suspian was meh... Really I might be ok with it if it wasn't for the fact that Caspian and RD are supposed to get together... Peter and Caspian's relationship was really the biggest cringe factor for me... that could be handled so much better. Even if they didn't delete that scene when they pick the Bulgy Bear... that showed that they were making amends, but instead it seems like its just something they throw in at the end. The other problem, which is true of VDT as well, is that they fail to appeal to the same audience that LWW did- that is really the inherent problem with the series. Reepicheep was amazing. I loved Aslan's fur color, but they needed to work on the CGI on his mouth. I'm glad they changed the plot around, because when I first read the book the length of the flashback bored and confused me a bit. All that being said, I think they did a good job of bringing the themes in the book to life.

Sorry that';s a bit of a hodgepodge... Oh I forgot, I'm glad they included wolves in the army... ok I'm done for now :P

I was still in purist mode when I watched PC on opening weekend, and I remember being a bit disappointed, but after breaking down the book later on to try to understand the changes that were made, then I liked it more than LWW.. now three years later I feel that the movie is far superior to LWW. There are a few things that I'm not crazy about.. Aslan's CGI, the inclusion of a pop song at the end of the movie, and many more things that I love.. Such as the night raid, which really bought to life the sense of desperation of the Narnians. Lucy's dream is wonderful, as is the Telmarines as Spanish and the fairy tale-esque setting where the tree opens the portal back to Earth. I was very glad to see the romp with Bacchus was left off the movie.. I never liked that part of the book... Overall I feel PC the film really bested PC the book.

Actually that is one of the things I can love about all of the Walden movies. I know and appreciate that CGI Aslan has a different look to animatronic characters like the BBC Aslan or the cartoon Aslan of the Children's television cartoon version of LWW. I much prefer the CGI version. How Aslan sounds in all the different productions is important, too. Liam Neeson sounds ok, unlike the BBC TV Aslan.

The only other Aslan I really liked was Stephen Thorne.

Yes, the PC film was lovely, and I was incredibly disappointed that nobody seemed to like it. I still like that movie, as probably the best production one is ever likely to get of PC. It was imaginative, got over all Trumpkin exposition at Cair Paravel and actually addressed the contents of the book PC. I was never worried about Will Moseley, whose character is not likely to be in any other movie, except in an odd cameo, until LB, the only other book he appears in. And now that VDT is out, I can see how Suspian might have been a teensy bit useful to get around some awkward bits of VDT the book.

Reviewing this film later on has not changed my mind.

I've never forgiven BBC for not only using such a small boy for Caspian in PC but also ruining SC by reusing him for the end of that film in place of BBC VDT's Samuel West. I was much happier with Ben Barnes being in both films, and will look forward to seeing him finally tie up his character in any future production of SC.

I loved PC at first... But the more I watch it the more it becomes such a mixed bag for me. Some things are absolutely wonderful, and some are absolutely terrible. In all honesty I think that it had a good thing going right up to the the beginning of the duel. The ending was such a disappointment, I was absolutely offended at the exclusion of the romp and the length of the final battle which just dragged on and on. It made Aslan seem like a total afterthought in Prince Caspian. I still love the Narnian and Telmarine characters though. The Dwarfs, Trufflehunter, Miraz, Gozelle. I thought they were all amazing. On the other hand I think I might be the one of the few people here who wasn't really impressed at all with the pevensies in PC.

Loved movie PC then; love it now! I continue to watch it periodically. Actually, I can never decide which is my favorite movie--LWW or PC. I'm sure I'm in the minority but I appreciated the change in movie Peter's character from that of book Peter. I think he is much more believable in the movie. I never saw him as the snotty, haughty persona that many did. To me, he was the Peter who needed to return to Narnia not because he had lost his faith but because he needed to learn to trust that faith.

As to THE KISS and pG's insightful "myth as girlfriend" point...remember, she kissed him! And a few glances and one quick kiss certainly didn't turn Caspian into a Don Juan who shattered the reverence for the myth of The Kings and Queens of Old. The kiss was unnecessary but was not a scene that had much impact on my enjoyment of the film.

I liked the WW scene. It provided an opportunity to elaborate on Edmund's redemption and repentance creating a thematic connection with movie LWW. And themes are funny things, anyway. They have to walk a fine line between subtlety and conspicuousness. I saw enough of Lewis' themes in the movie to placate any concerns I might have had going in.

My only substantive complaint with moviePC was the absence of a scene providing movie Peter the opportunity to ask forgiveness of Aslan for Peter's lack of trust. Movie Peter needed this moment to remind us exaclty why he was High King and Magnificent!

Overall, movie PC was a beautiful visual adaptation of my least favorite story in CoN. I still like the movie much, much better than the book.

Nothing anyone does gives me the right to be unkind.

When I first went to the movie theaters to see Prince Caspian, the only changes I knew about were that Caspina had dark hair and that there was going to be some flirting between Caspian and Susan. So when I saw the movie it was a complete shock, and I hated it! The next time I saw it was Christmas 2008. I already knew what to expect, and it wasn't the worst movie I had ever seen. But after I watched VDT, I realized that PC was a pretty good adaption. When I watch it there are still parts when I just walk out of the room, but overall its pretty good.

My feelings have not changed. Relatively, at least. :D My initial feelings were similar to De_De, I was raging mad after I saw PC. I walked out of the theatre like a mad bull, ha! And though I don't have roaring waves of anger rise in my chest when I watch it, I retain the same overall displeasure of it. After VDT, I watch PC again, and at first I was filled with a lot of relief, like "Oh, boy!! Wow, what a good movie compared to that!!". However, as the movie progressed, I realized my displeasure for it remained the same. There are just some scenes where I cringe and go, "No, No, No". So I think my feelings stayed pretty much the same. :)

I liked it. But after the abomination of Voyage of the Dawn Treader I like PC and LWW even more.

I only have two complaints about PC. ONe is the tone mixing. The humor just felt really out of place when the characters were going through some serious stuff. I would cut out the out of place humor. I also don't like the Call playing during the last scene...it was too cheesy.

Long time lurker, PC is one of my all time favourite films, a while back i found that it can be watched over and over when I the flu for a couple of days, always something interesting to like about it.

It's not perfect though and i give it a 9. The duel is great but the battle after throws the film for a few minutes until we get back to Lucy & Aslan. Just need to see start of battle, click chapter button, which gets to Lucy, then cuts back to battle before Trees arrive and nice moment between Caspian & the General during end of battle before he gets uprooted. If had more trees & only start/finish of battle would have been perfect.

Still amazing film though.

I for one think the Peter/Caspian character arcs are great, and really cool to have those in such a big budget film. Peter & Caspian are different versions of Miraz, they are both coming from good places but have still found themselves with motivations that are at the root of what Miraz has become. This is bought to a head when the White Witch turns up for them, and you can see Miraz, although totally corrupted, is not totally one dimensional bad from what Peter & Caspian have gone through.

In relation to the overall CoN, this is great also to me, LW&W is return of innocence to Narnia, PC is Human face of fall from that, VoDT is the mystical face of the same type of fall. To me, one of themes in MN is in Charn, where ancestors of Jadis did become more & more distorted leading to her & this ties with first three films to date in this light, so i'm hoping we get to see that played out in MN too.

Long time, no see! :p

I’ve seen PC only once, in February 2009. I’ve also seen VDT only once, in February 2011. So I can’t comment/vote on what I think of PC until I watch it again. But I really feel like I need to say this. It's been burning on my heart awhile.

My main problem with Walden Media (and Disney/Fox? who does what?) is that they seem to care more about making money than making a good movie. It’s more about financial and commercial success, than artistic success – a quality film faithful to the spirit of the book. /:)

Walden/Disney should have been proud of PC. I thought they spent the production money (minus Suspian) well, better than the promotion money. Their mistake in the latter department was not catering very much, if it all, to the faith market, plus a May release. I still think the behind-the-scenes clips on the Disney channel were a good idea.

Yet Disney pulled out because the film ended up barely in the black. Walden/Fox had a smaller production budget with VDT as a result – and it shows. VDT is technically inferior to PC, even with better fantasy sets and a fantastic ship. It just doesn’t have the same quality. I can’t even put a finger on what I feel is wrong with the film. :-s

Care about money and it will show. You won’t make much. In business you have to take risks you think are worth it, just like in your spiritual life you have to sow a seed and make a sacrifice. You have to aim for artistic and moral excellence (both are possible in a single film project). When you do, the money will be there. God rewards faithfulness to him.

Walden Media (and Disney/Fox) are using man’s math instead of God’s math. Throughout the franchise, their heart has been in the wrong place – more money than God, more money than artistic and moral excellence. Only when they put God first will the money be there.

I haven't been able to read Prince Caspian yet since I've been too busy so my perspective will be a bit different than most. I thought PC as an excellent sequel to LWW. In this review I'll cover my thoughts on the main characters and the other big issues of the movie.

Characters

Peter- This might be considered heresy on this board but I really liked what they did with Peter and I really sympathized with what he was going through. Look at it this way, Peter is the head of state and he was unexpectedly torn from his country. He became a man in Narnia and having to go back to high school would be torture (because we all know how awful high school is). When we finally returns to Narnia, he finds it in ruins. To make things worse, the rebels are being lead by the heir of the nation that messed everything up in the first place. I found it natural for Peter not to trust Caspian at first. I also really liked how they used Peter to explore theme of abandonment and anger at God. It made a lot of sense for Peter to be angry that he couldn't see Aslan and blowing off Lucy's idea of trusting in him to bring victory. Aslan didn't stop the Telemarine invasion, why would he help them now. His character developed very nice but I'll get into those scenes in particular later.

Susan- I've always been a fan of the Action Girl/Lady of War archetype so I really enjoyed watching Susan fight. I see Susan as the mother of Narnia. When somebody attacks a mother's kids, they will fight to protect them. Her fighting didn't make her less gentle in my view. She argued for a defensive strategy and wanted to withdraw when will realized the night raid was doomed to fail. Susan's selflessness came through when she wa prepared to sacrifice herself so Lucy could find Aslan. Her character arc was also well done. I think that Susan was more hurt by leaving Narnia than she let on and the reason she accepted being home so early was her way of easing the pain. While she is very happy to be back, she realizes she will have to relive that pain, resulting in her questioning value of her belief in Narnia. By then end she realizes that Narnia is worth it and her experience along with her meeting a certain someone (I'll get more into Susan/Caspian later), she is able to accept the fact that she is leaving while still loving Narnia. Due to this, I would find her fall in a potential TLB movie really random at out of character but if it gets made I know Walden will screw over my second favorite character.

Edmund- I lost count of how many Crowning Moments of Awesome this guy had. You get see how much Ed has matured since LWW while still being the kid we loved from the first movie. His more mischievous side come out with his snarky wit and the way he treats Miraz in the duel announcement scene. The third Penvensie showed great loyalty to his family when he believed Lucy about Aslan and stood by Peter till the end which was a major contrast to LWW. Edmund also had the best fight scenes involving sliding down roofs and jumping spin slashes. After seeing PC I think Skandar would be an amazing Robin if they ever brought him into the Batman movies. To end this segment I will say this, Edmund duel wielding in the final battle = m/

Lucy- Nicole Nordman's song I Will Believe described Lucy perfectly: "And the last but not least of us has faith enough for each of us". Despite how cynical the tone of PC got, a small glimmer of idealism was always there in Lucy. She is a very admirable character because she never lost hope. She didn't seem to develop as much as the other sovereigns but I'm fine with that because I was meant to the rock of the team in this movie and had some great character moments with Peter and Susan. However one thing that bugged was her hairstyle. She should have kept the awesome hat from the train scene.

To be continued.
