The one thing I noticed is that there is a lot of bells and chimes, not that I'm complaining about it, it sounds quite lovely. I really like them all buy "Aslan Appears". It has just that sound that you hear in every movie with that quiet, mysterious kind of sound. It has worked so well in the past and I'm so looking forward to it now.

You know, part of 'the Duel' sounds a little like part of the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. Which is slightly discouraging, but hopefully it's more my imagination than anything and I won't notice it in the full version or the movie.
Still like 'Calm before the storm' best!

Although George Fenton would have been my first choice to score this movie, these clips do show some promise. By the way, on Amazon.com they have changed the picture on the cover album. For the better I think. (excluding the white witch) http://www.amazon.com/Chronicles-Narnia ... 849&sr=1-2
The only clips I liked were the remixes of the old music and that only because Arnold tried to make them sound like Howard Shore's LotR scores. The rest was a fairly generic sounding mixture of faux!Danny Elfman, bits from Stargate's score, some PotC, some of John Williams' HP scores, and Michael Giacchino's Star Trek score. Bleargh.
I'm eternally grateful that they didn't release the last two tracks. I want them to be a surprise!
I'm loving these! I love how he took old themes, both from LWW and PC, as well as a tiny bit from the BBC Narnia theme. I also love the new feel to it. A part or two did feel reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean, which is okay, as long as it's not obvious. I loved how he took a lot of HGW's themes and changed keys and/or instruments to give them a new feel. Overall, it feels very adventurous, and the whole magic of discovery and adventure shines through. Can't wait to get the soundtrack (I've already pre-ordered it )!! I also can't wait to see the movie! Sail on VDT!

I guess some people are just destined to not like this film. Sad really. I wish everyone could enjoy some of this news as much as me!
Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

Given that there's already a thread devoted to the samples, I suggest we use this one only for voting, and keep all discussion over there.

I really like some of the tracks (Reepicheep & Sweet Water!), don't really care for some of the action/epic ones, and will have to hear some (ok, all ) of them in context before I can really judge.
I'm guessing that I can identify a Reepicheep theme in Reepicheep & Sweet Water. Eustace on Deck seemed a little strange to me, since it didn't sound very Eustace-like to me. I wonder, though, if it doesn't have a more general Dawn-Treader-forging-east kind of theme involved. At least it has a theme that's repeated in some of the other tracks (Blue Star, at least).
I also really wonder what's going on in Dragon's Treasure. It sounds light & happy...

Bookwyrm, seriously mate, you've just taken pessimism to a whole new level. I recognise similiarities to some of those but it seems to me like the music has it's own identity. As I said in the Movie News comments, it reminds me of the BBC series, Walden's versions and classical movies. And that's not a bad thing. LWW and PC were too bombastic at times. There's room to breathe here.

I find the music fantastic. Yes, my favorite pieces so far are the updated renditions of the Kings and Queens theme, but that's because I'm attracted to the beauty of them.
I will admit that The Duel has a similar sound to PotC, but I think that's probably because of the instrument selection more than anything. It's really a jig, and most of the jig music we've heard in recent films was from PotC. The full songs have a lot more surprises in them, and I look forward to hearing them. I'm very proud of Dave Arnold!

I am really enjoying listening to the samples, they sound very lighthearted and magical, which is what they are going for.
I voted "Awesome! This may be the best Narnia score yet!"
because, while I still love and will always love Harry Gregson-William's score, this one is so cool! I can't wait to hear this all the way through!
