I don't know if this has been brought up before, but in the book, Lewis writes that the Dawn Treader was, or nearly was attacked by pirates before Edmund, Lucy and Eustace got on.
Do you think that in the film they will move it to after Edmund, Lucy and Eustace get on the Dawn Treader and expand it into an action sequence? After all, its a great opportunity for them to add action .

I was thinking about that a year ago and am currently writing a fanfiction about that.
I was hoping that a scene would take place like that at the very beginning of the movie and then confuse the audience by showing Cambridge.

I am not sure if we have seen anything about pirates. The only shot i could think of is the one of Lucy with Susan's bow that seems to be during the day and there is a unconscious sailor behind her. The only reason that i might think it is not from the dark island battle is because it isn't dark in the shot.
Lucy may be shooting at Eustace though. We can't really know. All we know is that we haven't seen anything about pirates.
There are no clouds in the sky. There is only the open sun and the Lord watches.
^^ hey, that's a good point! I have been wondering why Lucy was shooting on baord the Dawn Treader in that clip.....you might have guessed right! I hope so, it makes sense!

Actually, there are at least two unconscious sailors on the deck behind Lucy - possibly worse then unconscious. It does appear to be daytime for that clip.
I always kinda thought that clip would be part of the sea serpent battle. I sure hope Eustace-dragon wouldn't be clumsy enough to injure two+ sailors!

I doubt it.
If they put a pirate attack in the movie, it would probably be a gimmick. I don't think they have, though, for two reasons.
1. By the sounds of it the film-makers don't want to make this a "boy's action movie".
2. This would be the sort of thing we'd see in the trailer.
Lucy shooting the arrow is the reason I thought there might be a pirate attack. I wasn't sure if it had been talked about, so thanks for telling me.
Yes, they don't want to have too much fighting like in PC, so they probably won't have an Pirate attack. Good thinking.

Another reason everyone has pretty much decided against the possibility of the pirate attack being in the movie is the expense filming the pirates' craft - they'd have to have a whole second ship! And that would have been a little difficult to keep secret this whole time!

It wouldn't make sense to have one of the biggest action scenes of the movie right at the beginning. LWW and PC both started off with action sequences, but kept having bigger action sequences throughout the movie. VDT is not the film to throw in a million action sequences, because there's just not as much conflict, and the only villain is Gumpus, who is a pretty weak villain at that.
There's actually quite a bit of conflict in the book, just not a lot of action.

That's very true. There's the slave traders, sea serpent, gold water, duffelpuds, and other things that have a lot of conflict, but very little action.
I definetly cannot imagine them having a pirate attack. That would cost a fortune to do, and it's not really nesessary for the movie. Actually, I think it might just create a lot of confusion for people who hadn't read the books before.
I don't really think they'll include a pirate attack. Heck, they already added a dragon attack, and there is so much more other adventure elements, that it really wouldn't even be needed by my standards.

I agree with the majority, I doubt there would be a pirate attack. It probably wouldn't fit into their budget, and why would they spend money on something that doesn't effect the story at all? Still, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a pirate skirmish squeezed in somewhere. I guess it's one of those things where you have to just wait and see.
Haha! I love your signature pogginfan! And I agree with what you have said, I think we will just have to wait and see the movie, for I doubt we will get an official confirmation from a member of the cast, crew, etc....

What with all that goes on in Dawn Treader -- plus, most likely, new scenes that will get added by the script-writers -- some scenes from the book will have to get cut. The Pirate attack would be a good one to leave out because it would cost a lot of money, it's not necessary to the plot, and plus it never really hapenned in the book -- it was only mentioned briefly by Caspian as something that hapenned before they arrived. It would actually be more accurate if they left it out, since the children never really saw it.
