Here`s my take on the trailer. Some of the pacing seemed a bit off during the trailer. Edmund holding a glowing blue sword still baffles me. I haven`t kept up with the sea of spoilers so I`m not sure what that is all about. Over all I`m quite content with the footage. I`m a bit liberal with movie adaptations so I keep an open mind. I actually enjoyed the cameo of Susan, Peter and Edmund together. It`s nice but not what I expected. Is this Susan and Peter`s sole appearance in the movie ? Some have said that the scene of Susan and Peter in Narnia clothes is a gimmick and is not present in the film.

wolfloversk, yes the digital factor accounts for some of it (I can't say I'm a fan) but I think the visual effects etc. look pretty good. By the way, LWW is nowhere near 10 years old. It was released in 2005.

Gonna have to disagree with those of you who think this film looks "cheap." Yeah.... totally disagree. ;)) Very little in Prince Caspian wowed me visually. And I've already caught my breath at some of the shots in this trailer.

I mean, I LOVE this... absolutely love it with every fiber of my being. And none of you sourpusses are going to change my mind about that. :)) :P ;)

Okay, so I watched the trailer again to see if I could see these "cheap" visuals, and I just don't see it. Every single shot looks fantastic to me (except for the shot of Aslan and Eustace on the beach). If you take out that shot, I think the effects are nearly perfect.

To me Aslan looks so much better than he did in either of the first two films (especially Prince Caspian). Even in LWW something felt really "off". I don't get that here.

I agree with you FK. I mean, I don't know what some are on about but visually, this looks like we are in for a maginficent ride!! This was a great, great trailer and something tells me it is going to be a great movie in every way. And nothing anyone says can change that in my mind!! :D

Yeah, whoever says that the effects look cheap must have not looked through the photo gallery yet.

Agree - I don't see anything cheap looking in this trailer. Certainly, nothing as bad as the "bridge crossing" from LWW. Now THAT was embarrassingly-bad.

That shot you link to looks fantastic, especially when you consider the actual ship NEVER TOUCHED THE WATER.

Yeah, whoever says that the effects look cheap must have not looked through the photo gallery yet.

Or, I suspect its the type of person who just likes to complain - either on here or in front of a webcam. :D

I agree that the visuals look amazing!

I was worried when I saw all the previous trailers, but the shots in this trailer look much improved.

That was a math fail on my part... oops. I meant five years, can't do math in my head still though pleanty of time for CGI improvement.

I completely agree with fantasia_kitty!

Granted, I still need to see the film in its entirety, but this trailer has really, really impressed me. So far, I think it's a step up from both LWW and PC, to be honest... Don't get me wrong, I think Andrew Adamson was great and all, but he came directly from computer animated films. Michael Apted has an impressive directorial resume', and this trailer has given me the impression that he really knows what he's doing with this Narnia film!

Gotta agree with fantasia-kitty here - I'm pumped about this! All those pessimistic remarks about cheesy visual effects and so on will not deter my excitement! Sure we still have cheesy stuff from Coriakin and Liliandil, and I totally ignored the narrator(someone commented that they thought he just randomly chose cheesy one liners out of a hat...I dig that!), but just watching the trailer, not listening, was epic. The shots of the ship were ever so much better, and dragon eustace looked so much more believable. Reepicheep's voice isn't so bad, though I do think he looks unfinished. I also believe the uncharacteristic doubt and skeptic remark from Lucy about Aslan's Country was another example of nasty Fox marketing.

I saw the movie....and was disappointed

Even though I think the visuals look fantastic, the complaints on "cheap" visuals is not totally invalid. The shot with the dragon and Aslan was rather fake-looking. For some odd reason, the visuals just reminded me of the movie 300. Sure, it gave me some goosebumps seeing the lion and the dragon but it just looked artificial. But that aside, I think it's unfair to compare the visuals of VODT and PC. The PC trailer was more grounded, gritty, and "realistic" emphasizing the loss of magic. VODT's visuals went for the more fluffy, lighter, and magical theme; hence why I believe the visuals might look more "cheap" than PC.

Another good reason why it looks "cheap" is the fact that the entire film is heavily CGI dependent. I'm a sucker for good integration of both CGI and the scene. Think District 9 instead of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

In the end, great trailer but it shows the movie will still need some work.

I don't care what my book conscience says anymore. I know I'm going to enjoy this movie. I usually go into these films with skeptic eyes, but it only takes Lucy to smile in awe at Aslan for a couple of seconds or the Dawn Treader to show up and all my book conscience is history. Who cares if they slaughtered the story when the Dawn Treader is right before my eyes?

A rather sad state of mind to be in, isn't it?

Wow. Some people here are spoiled. You should have grown up with the really cheap pre-Star Wars effects that I did. I definitely appreciate the modern ones more because of that experience.

So from my point of view, the visuals are looking really good. I'm anticipating this aspect of VDT more than LWW and PC.

From the majority of responses here and and at ComingSoon.net (Full Trailer Story), I think that the final theatrical trailer will have just the right appeal for a general audience thinkin about a family holiday film. :)

And I can't wait to see the Dawn Treader sailing along with that great sunset that someone posted a link to. :D I am encouraged overall. :)

P.S.
(And $140-$150 million may be a lot cheaper than PC but that much money still means a big movie. VDT being cheaper is not to say it is cheap. :D)
