Aslan did look better, but then he will look terrible in the film like he did in PC.
What makes you say that? Even as the clips were coming out in PC the flaws were visible, but the difference is here that they're obviously being corrected. And unlike LWW, the lighting doesn't make him change colors. I'd be happier if his fur was slightly more golden, but I'm pleased with the progress they've made.

Wow. AMAZING. While it might not totally assuage all of the confusion and questions, it clarified enough for me to stop holding my breath from worry, and start for excitement now i just have to wait 31 more days

I don't know what it is about this trailer, but there's just something about it that gives me a bit more encouragement about the outcome of the film. The things that I have worried about still concern me, but there's more shots in this trailer that look far "better" than the earlier trailers.
Eustace's character keeps getting better and better (I love the interaction between him and Reepicheep, there's a real friendship there). The color in the film so far looks absolutely fantastic, I'm completely drawn to it- probably one of my favorite aspects of the film (I absolutely love the giant wave at the end of the world, beautiful). Aslan looks much improved as well (not quite like LWW, but much more believable and touchable than in PC. Should be interesting for the final). I have speculations, but I do wonder where Peter and Susan fit in. Only becuase Edmund and Peter don't really feel dressed for the 1940s. Susan however looks fantastic, she definitely feels like she's going down her book path.
I'm feeling a bit more positive about the film, but only time will tell.

Hee, I was just about to come back and make mention of that, having watched the trailer for the...fourth?...time. There is the bright red lipstick and the curled hair and just her face in general - it looks very dolled up, and while that's kinda appropriate for a nice party where the men wear suits and all, it definitely brings to mind Last Battle Susan. Change Edmund and Peter to two unknown boys and it's kinda chilling. If it *is* Lucy's spell-dream thing, she's also likely envisioning Susan as she is at the present time, maybe even as Susan has told Lucy that beauty is in England.
I think I'm starting to get slightly preoccupied with that short clip. I kinda think the man standing behind them to the left (our left, not theirs) looks American military, while there is a guy in dark glasses on the right watching them, and I think I've read way too many spy stories (or maybe it's the fic I'm contemplating at the moment) but I find him intriguing. And Edmund's mustache. That intrigues me more; is it supposed to be him in the future? Did Skandar really grow a mustache? Does Peter have one too, but it's too light to really make out since it's blond? (We know from LWW that older!Peter had facial hair, after all...)
I'm really thinking too much into this. And I still agree with Lion's Emblem that there is something about this trailer that is encouraging, but I can't figure out what it is.

Guys, I'm not seeing Edmund's moustache in that footage. I think you're imagining things. I'm thinking that scene is just before Peter and Susan are called away to study overseas.

Me neither, and I've watched it about seven times now (having shown it to all my siblings).
But everyone I've talked to says it is a better trailer, and that the movie looks amazing. So...at least on the financial front, there is indication it will hit home. No, I haven't given up disliking the changes, but I'm a bit tired now and just ready to see it for whatever it is.

Well, that was...interesting.
I think that was the most stunning trailer visually, due to the inclusion of a whole slew of epic shots we haven't seen before.
But in terms of overall editing, this trailer is pretty bad. First off, it shows almost the entire final scene of the movie. After that, it shows nothing but two minutes of random grand shots with very little indication of storyline. In addition, the sound effects didn't quite fit in a lot of places and there were almost no sound effects at all at the end of the trailer. The editing guy for this obviously got lazy or was pushed to a ridiculous deadline.
And unfortunately, I've got to agree with glumPuddle...I ultimately didn't feel like I was watching a trailer for VDT. More so than any of the other trailers.
And lastly, if the early reviews are correct, this is the most misleading trailer yet. Evil forces combining? We've been told the White Witch is just a brief figment of Edmund's imagination. Stupid marketing.
(If you think I'm being too negative, I'll say this...the overly pessimistic will either be correct or pleasantly surprised.)
I've not read this thread before watching the trailer because I'm hoping to go into it unbiased by what anyone else has said. So anyways, here's my commentary on it.
The wave is just plain gorgeous. I couldn't imagine it looking any better. Not sure what's going on with Aslan's shadow. It does look a bit like it is transforming, but nothing about it screams lamb to me. Perhaps that isn't the entirety of the transformation?
Nice roar/door opening bit. Not cheesy at all.
The DT finally looks like a real ship in a sailing scene! I still dislike the overly ornate design, but at least now it looks like a rather majestic ship now instead of the bathtub toy we saw in previous trailers.
Nice scenes of the crew. Still no High King line. Either they edited it out or it was never there to begin with. One less thing to worry about.
Yay! The start of the Eustace going back to a boy again scene looks nice. It does look like he's wounded though.
Nice but boring scenery shots.
Dragon!Eustace flying about, looking much better than previous outings we've viewed. Ramandu's Island looks cool, but nothing like I had pictured.
Cheesy humor? Check. This scene was sorta funny the first time I saw it, grating this time around.
Ridiculous and nonsensical lines from the narrator? False advertisement exaggerating the presence and role of the WW? Check and check.
Cheesy Coriakin dialogue? Check.
Nice to see the Dark Island actually looks darker now and less like LA on a bad smog day.
Oh, look! What do you get when you cross Sting and a lightsaber? A Lord Sword!
Even if Coriakin is a silly, cliche-spouting man, he has good taste in libraries.
Narrowhaven is an amazingly cool looking set. One thing these movies do right is definitely set design.
Spooky scene with the sleeping lords ... waking? Not sure what's going on there.
Annoying 3D gimmick map scene.
Gorgeous sea of lilies shot. I refuse to believe that Lucy was questioning the existence of Aslan's country. That would be absurd. Tricky editing again, I'll wager. Reep's new voice sounds fine to me.
And they made Ramandu's Daughter look even more radioactive.
Random scenes that don't do much for the trailer. Check. Reep seems a bit goofy for my tastes here. Georgie is still overacting the snow scene.
Why do we need to see the stupid NOOO!! scene again?
Wow, the transition from the garden to the interior of Coriakin's house looks quite good.
Random pointless Anna and Will cameo from Lucy's version of It's a Wonderful Life.
Ben seems to have done a really nice job as Caspian in everything we've seen. Caspian in the previous movie was weak and not really someone I could believe as a ruler of Narnia, but they seem to have addressed that problem.
Coriakin throwing magic pixie dust, Duffers jumping around. Hmmm.
Oh! Did the parade in Narrowhaven actually make it into the movie in some form?
Love Reep's "No fear, no retreat!" line. Very Reep-like.
Random and pointless action from Narrowhaven. Exaggerated sea serpent battle.
Giant laser light display on Ramandu's Island? Weird.
More random and pointless action.
Ending with the usual Aslan roar, as expected.
Definitely loved the trailer. It feels very, very Narnian to me, just as Lucy thinks the painting of the Dawn Treader looks very Narnian to her. The visuals are out of control! And I mean that in a completely good way. Adapting books to screen is hard. Part of my problem with the first two was that they were way too literal. Almost safe in their interpretations. This one, to me, may have finally nailed it!
Maybe it's because the release is so close and I'm finally have to look at shots and accept that they are finished....
But the whole film looks cheap to me now. Watch a PC trailer and then watch this. The difference in quality is striking. Both LWW and PC had a heightened but credible look. With VDT, the term "cut and paste" comes to mind. It just doesn't feel real. It feels comic booky.
No, I haven't given up disliking the changes, but I'm a bit tired now and just ready to see it for whatever it is.
Careful, that's what Fox wants. They throw all the worst changes online so that we have time to get over it. (I sometimes wonder if the filmmakers think they can get away with anything as long as they give us enough time to get over it before the movie releases. Just a thought)
Nice but boring scenery shots.
Oh, how could you? This is the Whitsundays and the Gold Coast you are talking about. I know we are unlikely to get that fab New Zealand mountain scene which really made the LOTR films, more than anything else, but the Whitsundays are really beautiful. The Gold Coast is too expensive I grant you....Oh if only, and how I'd love to be there sometimes...
So.....you know how I said I wasn't going to be seeing this movie in theaters? Well, this trailer is making me want to change my mind.
I personally liked it. Not loved it, liked it. I think it was the best trailer so far. The most honest? Perhaps not, but I was paying more attention to the visuals than what was being said, the foremost reason being you can't really get anything accurate from that.
The shots of ending, the dragon, the ship.....it made me think this film might not be a total abomination afterall! (Maybe just a semi-abomination. )
I still don't like the swords. I still don't like the White Witch. I still don't like minotaurs on ship, all the cheesy lines, and Georgie Henley's subpar acting. But maybe they won't be as bad as I have been imagining???
Maybe it's just this trailer, but I'm thinking of giving this film another chance.

It probably looks cheaper because it is cheaper. You can't really compare the visuals with PC. PC was ridiculously expensive and could afford to do crazy amazing visuals. PC's ridiculous cost was a big part of its downfall. VDT on the onther hand almost didn't get made because it didn't have the funds. I really don't see how it's fair to compare the two. Perhaps VDT could've done better visually if PC hadn't gone so crazy with its budget yet failed to bring in as much as was hoped for.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the visuals and expensive stuff in PC, I'm just saying PC went kinda crazy budget wise with the visuals and everything, hence VDT doesn't have a insane amounts of money to spend on visual effects. But most of the people who have seen the previews say VDT is gonna be visually breathtaking. I choose to believe them. I have an untrained eye so I'm happy with it.
People, $150 million US is nothing to sneeze at! That's still a sizeable budget for a movie.

Aye, but there is the fact that they switched to digital...
I think that's the reason why it looks that way.
Besides that, it looks amazing, the cgi is looking way better than LWW, honestly- which is good, I mean it has been *EDIT* 5 */EDIT* yrs it should improve I think Aslan's looking better than he did in PC. Reep looks a bit more realistic in some parts, less in others, but the net I think is the same. I'd say that visually its comparative to PC, if not better than, again taking in to account the switch to digital.
