I just logged in over at Narnia.com, and as usual a trivia question popped up.

Question: "VDT is the _______ book in The Chronicles of Narnia."

I paused, and then sighed. I figured the answer they wanted was "fifth", but stubbornly answered "third." I expected to be marked wrong. But it said I was correct!

(Has anyone else answered this question? I wonder if it would have accepted "third" or "fifth")

As an original-order purist, I was very pleased that "third" was accepted.

Note: In case you aren't aware, VDT was the third book to be published (1952). After Lewis' death, the numbering was changed to so-called "chronological order," which put VDT at #5. (I say "so-called" because HHB does not take place after LWW; it takes place during LWW. Therefore the current order isn't chronological)

I actually figured that they would have it in chronological order, ignoring the original order. Therefore, I was very surprised(and pleased) to discover my initial answer of "five" was wrong. The answer they accepted as the correct one was "three".

I figured I'd get it wrong, too, when I put 3rd. :) I suppose the movies may be influencing their choice of order, since I suppose a lot of movie fans would be confused...whatever their reason, I'm glad!

Well and also it is the third book.

I think it says it's correct if you put either "third" or "fifth". That's a nice thing of them to do. That way, no matter which order you prefer, you get the answer right. I mean, technically they both can be right. There are two different orders that the books come in. :)

I also put in 3rd, thinking I would fail. But it is the third movie so I guess they are trying to keep it orderly.

Actually, I entered the chronological answer of fifth at first and it stated that I was incorrect. Then I entered the correct order, that being third, and it took that as the correct answer.

I really like that they know at least that the books were in a different order the right order at the begining. It makes you feel a lot better.

I entered "fifth" and was accepted. Maybe they're accepting both "third" and "fifth"?

It shouldn't accept both.

Hmmm... maybe it's glitchy and accepts a different answer each time? :-

It shouldn't accept both.

I think it's fair to accept both. I mean, everyone has seen the chronological ones in stores -- and a lot of those people don't know about the whole order issues of Publication vs. Chronological. I mean, if they have seen VDT books labeled as "Book 5", then they would remember that, and guess it. And it wouldnt be fair for them to be wrong when they guess it then, since the books do come labelled both ways. :)

I too entered "fifth" and was told it was correct. It takes both answers.
