BOM says the Worldwide is $415,666,410, only about 4 million to go to pass PC
Indeed, it's possible. That would be great!
Go Japan.
Worldwide VDT has done well. And over 100mil in the US isn't bad. Better than the opening indicated.
I'm pleased.
Well VDT continues to lose momentum in Japan... worldwide increased to $311.7 million international plus $104.3 million in North America for a grand total of:
$416 million
your fellow Telmarine
Edit: looks like VDTs box office run is pretty much over.. It's out of theaters in Japan and in less than 10 theaters in Venezuela.

Well, that was still a decent run. I don't think any of us would have thought back in January that VDT would come within $5 million of PC's worldwide gross.
The only worrisome thing is that while in dollars, the drop from PC to VDT was minuscule, when one counts for inflation and 3D ticket prices, the raw audience numbers took a big hit.
Currently IMDb is recording a total slightly above $416 mill. Remember, this is $2.8 million under IMDb's total for Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian which is $418.8 million. I know there are worrying trends there, but let's look on the bright side. We never thought that VDT would come within a bull's roar of PC, let alone a Minotaur's roar. Personally I was happy that VDT passed Golden Compass internationally at least, and that it got above $400 million.
Anyway, let's get on with MN.
Is VDT not in cinemas in Japan anymore? Where is that confirmed?
Anyhow, the film has done well!! I can't wait to get my dvd. It only comes out in my country later.
You lucky people, who have it already.

VDT is still in Cinemas in Japan.
However, it will be closed soon.
VDT didn't do better than PC, in Japan.
It was lucky that the yen was strong.
*sigh*
so the box office run for my favorite movie of all time draws to an end.
I'm glad it did well!
now further up and further in! SC or MN!

In the grand scheme MOVIES ARE NOT IMPORTANT, people are important, Love one another and treat eachother how we would like to be treated ourselves!
LoveNarniaLive4God, no, VDT's result is not better than PC's, in the yen.
If the yen was same as the yen in 2008, VDT made only $23 million.
The yen is stronger, so the studios could get larger numbers than PC's.
[Edit]
From the site of the Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan, LWW's number was ¥6,860,000,000 and PC's number was ¥3,000,000,000.
It means $1 was about ¥119 for LWW and about ¥108 for PC.
And VDT's number is $30,428,302, now $1 is about ¥82, so I guess it is about ¥2,500,000,000.
If it was always [$1 = ¥100], LWW's number was $68,600,000, PC's was $30,000,000 and VDT's was $25,000,000.
I'm sure most of you saw gP's news story on the front page, but did you take the time to check out the ad in Variety? I don't regularly read Variety, but I'm thinking this isn't usual behavior for a movie company to brag about their earnings in a magazine ad. I can't help but think that this is good news for the franchise.
I know we had our eyes on passing PC, but after taking a step back, I see that it truly is remarkable that we passed $400 mil, -and by such a large margin.

Actually this is something I am familiar with, Movie Aristotle. Before the days of the Internet, my dad actually got me a subscription to Weekly Variety and later on I would buy the Hollywood Reporter at newsstands from time to time.
They were probably the two top trade papers for the motion picture industry for a long time. And it was fairly common to see a studio take out an advertisement in either paper (or both sometimes) when a certain movie reached or passed a significant milestone, or had a big opening weekend, or set a record in an individual theater. So definitely not an unusual occurrence.
Fox and Walden were just carrying on an old tradition.
(If I find a similar ad in an old paper copy I saved I'll scan it and post it here. )

There is definitely no "a" in definite.
The Mind earns by doing; the Heart earns by trying.

Actually it's still out in the UK and Bahrain, and possibly Venezuela. VDT reopened in a lot more theatres in the UK over Easter weekend. So, if you're chomping at the bit to see it in theatres one more time, you know where to go.

Fascinating. Now I really can't help but think that this is good for the franchise. I'm eager to see the foreign totals for the week. I'm just a little curious to see what the absence of the American box office will do to Dawn Treader's gross.
It sounds like VDT did excellent business over the past week in video sales. http://forum.narniaweb.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2909&start=64
