Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son opened in seven markets and earned $2.8m for $29.9m while The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader sailed past $300m this weekend with the help of an excellent hold in Japan on $1.4m from 621 that raised the tally to $21.8m after four.

Still holding well in Japan. 25 million in Japan is my final estimate. So we passed 300 million Overseas, Golden Compass' 302 million is in sight.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that The Voyage of the Dawn Treader‘s foreign box office total has exceeded $300m:

But the movie has only grossed $107.3 million in the U.S with a worldwide total of over 407million...

OK well these are different numbers from anythin i'v seen on other sites BOM and the like... so which numbers are correct... I mean BOM is still tracking VDT daily and only has its take at 104.2mill... so which is correct? has DT really passed 407mill???

No, VDT hasn't passed $407 mill yet. Its domestic total is $104.2 mill. VDT has earned $299.6 mill, and the full worldwide total is $403.8 mill.

Not to worry, the film immediately above it is Xmen-Xmen united which did earn $407 million. Next week should see VDT match Golden Compass. Golden Compass's foreign total was $302,127,136. By the way, VDT has slightly widened the gap with Tron Legacy. You can see the results here.

I do have a link to IMDb's All-time worldwide box office. Up until now the results have been done differently on IMDb to VDT's disadvantage. But now it is saying that VDT has earned $405,025,314. It will be really interesting to see where VDT does finish up.

I'm still happy with the $403 mill. Yes its short of PC, but only by a little. As well, VDT can probably pull in a little more. So I'm very happy. I just hope that the producers at Walden and (especially) Fox are happy.

Next week should see VDT match Golden Compass. Golden Compass's foreign total was $302,127,136.

I don't know about next week but since VDT actually improved 9.2% over its previous weekend in Japan, another $3-$5 million is definitely possible. And that would put VDT solidly over $405 million worldwide and past Golden Compass' overseas mark.

Even Box Office Mojo has VDT at $403.9 million now.

VDT is only $2 million behind PC's Japan total.

In other news Narnia was released a few days early in australia, I got my copy of DAWN TREADER today at the shops!!! very excited, me and my sis are setting ourselves up now for a movie night!!!

And that would also mean it has passed The Golden Compass' foreign total.

Looks like VDT could make $30 million in Japan. Very good under ther circumstances. I predicted a final WW total of $410 million after its opening weekend in Japan (and before the disaster of course), and it'll pass that, so that's great.

I think it is great that VDT finally passed Golden Compass' foreign totals. If it gets up to $410 million it would have done well indeed.

The better VDT does, the less there is grounds for press commentators saying that the Narnia series reaps less and less with subsequent editions. Yes, VDT might not have earned as much as PC, especially domestically. But in total it hasn't been by the enormous amount that many would like to think. And VDT is still ahead of the more favoured Tron Legacy.
