Well, here's to hoping that a director will one day come along and revitalize the franchise.
Whoopee. Time to start the 20-40 year wait, I guess.
In the meantime, I'll just go to college, get a job, get married, have a few kids, and retire.
Yeah. I guess we should be happy. On the bright side we got an extra movie. So many movies don't get picked up again when they are dropped by there company. Walden found someone else. Sadly it didn't pan out, but as fans we were fortunate to at least get 3 movies out of the franchise. We could very easily ended up with just the first 2. However, none of us should give up. Word of mouth might stretch this to Prince Caspian s gross. Not likely, but possible. I'm going to go again tomorrow. We all should!!

Ha ha!! About the only thing I am laughing about right now!! All I can say is what went wrong???????????????
Unfortunately, I couldn't see the film when I was in Sydney so I can't say whether I like the film or not. An interesting note, a cousin of mine who likes the first two films but is not a Narnia fan came home from watching the Harry Potter film and Prince Caspian was showing on tv. She and a friend watched it and were then really keen to go and watch the 3rd film - I really hope they did. I must say that showing PC on tv doesn't seem to have helped much though.
I'm just going to be sooooo disapointed if SC doesn't get made. Still is there any chance that some of these figures are exaggerated or something (I mean exaggerated in being too low - not too high). Has anyone any idea what has gone wrong here??????????
Do you love "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes?
If so you might like to see my sister's dramatization of this poem through her photography!

Well, it's looking like the last few weeks have been really weak at the box office overall. In fact, the Tourist is also bombing really bad. It's a mixture of things I'm sure, but it does look like this is a dead week for people to go to the movies.
Well, the verrrrryyy faint silver lining here is that if VDT had done really well, the producers and all would have thought "Oh, look, everyone likes it when we make big changes to the storyline! Let's have a few fauns and centaurs join the quest in SC and maybe have an epic battle at the end! " UM, no. I'm not sure I'd be interested in seeing the resulting movie.

I might be one of the only people on this board that would rather have a pretty bad film than no film at all. My friend and I almost enjoyed laughing at all the epic fails in VDT this time around.

There's a possibility that the weekend estimation will be a few million dollars off, but that won't be enough to make VDT have a successful opening weekend.
The current theory on BoxOfficeMojo's forums as to what went wrong is that this week is bad for the box office in general. VDT isn't the only one - almost all the movies this week have weekend estimates far below expectations.
Well, that's nice. There is the bad weather, too. And maybe the newness of 3D stuff is wearing off, and thus the ticket sales especially for that aspect. That's got to happen sometime, right?
And to tell the whole truth, I would probably watch SC no matter how bad it gets.

I went yesterday evening to my theatre and was surprised how much people turned up. Since till a couple of weeks ago there was nothing of Narnian advertisement, no trailer except for 2 small posters. On tv almost no advertisement, they were even too lazy to show The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe or Prince Caspian.
But nonetheless 40-50 people showed up, about half the seats. As much as when i saw Harry Potter. I loved the film and hope the boxoffice will be good. I did my share, brought my whole family (sister, father en mother). And during the holidays i'll definitely go again with some friends. By the way i live in Belgium, i hope it performs well in Europe.
Question for people in Australia, did you only get the 3D version last weekend?
I'm in NZ, but we had the 3D only for a week ahead of the official opening on 9th - which I suspect was the same for Australia. Does that help?
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
I'm sure books will be written about this whole mess when it's over. At least those will be entertaining to read.

Well, I woke up this morning and was hoping so desperately that i dreamt it all. I was wrong, however, and have to face the fact that we have seen the last Narnia movie for a long time. With very good legs, Fox may pull even or make a small profit. However, it will not be what they wanted and they will not make another. I'm super bummed.
I'm going to go see VDT this afternoon...was it a bad movie or did it just do bad financially?? I'm really excited to see it no matter what
"Are you sure you're eighteen?"
"Why? Do I look older?"
I'll be going again, for a second time, in about and hour and a half.
(three of us going, 3D) To Regal, so I may just see what that news was about, "word on the street".
The problem is that they waited too long in between the movies. In addition, the second film should have been the film that established the series as a ongoing saga. Instead it was unnoticed when sandwhiched inbetween Iron Man and Indiana Jones.
They should have marketed the second film to churches and have released it on December 2007 as originally planned. Since it would have gone up against the Golden Compass (which Christians were boycotting), it should have done really well.
Then they should have started filming the next movie January or May 2008 as originally planned. In addition to more actor continuity, they could have released the film in November or December of 2009. If that did well they could have been on the Silver Chair right now.
WE CAN'T LET THIS FLOP!!! Go out and reccomend this to other families. The average person doesnt go on narniaweb, so its necessary that we go spread the word to see this film. It's possible that rather then a huge opening weekend with a significant drop, that VotDT may just steadily do well thorughout the season. Oh and if you have a facebook, make a status about it.
Winter Is Coming
This is sad. There's still hope for good DVD sales!!!!!!!!!!!!
