I presume that school resumed on Monday as well, in USA? Or is it not until next Monday?
Most began on Monday yes.

Most began on Monday yes.
Well most of the schools in my area started today (Tues) but yes it'll probably be this week.

What countries has Dawn Treader NOT opened in yet? Japan is one, and I think China is another? In China, PC did better than LWW. It might be possible that VDT does even better in China.
Movie Aristotle, AKA Risto
VDT has passed the $300,000,000 mark now, with a new foreign total of $213,334,774. The domestic (USA) total hasn't been updated since 3rd January.
88.8m with Tuesday number that just came out. So 120m is out of the picture pretty much. 93m+ is my estimate for this weekend i hope.
BOM says:
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader found $21.3 million on 7,747 screens in 67 markets. The third Narnia movie held well in France ($4.1 million), Italy ($2.4 million) and Germany ($2.1 million), and opened to a strong $1.1 million in Argentina. Through Monday, its overseas total reached $213.3 million, pushing its worldwide total (domestic plus foreign) past $300 million. While it still trails Prince Caspian's $278 million international total, an opening in China this weekend and Japan next month should ultimately propel Dawn Treader past that mark.
You beat me to it, narnian1. That's very good news that BOM expects VDT to pass PC's international total. That would just about guarantee reaching and passing $400 million worldwide. Link to story: https://secure.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3034&p=.htm
What that ultimately means for the next Narnia film is still up to the studios. But the more VDT makes the better.

VDT dropped hard on Tuesday domestically. It'll be a slow crawl to $110 million now...
If VDT matches PC internationally, it should end up with at least $380 million worldwide. That's about $40 million less than PC, and PC had a budget that was $70 million more.
Looking at it that way, VDT will almost certainly be a better box office success than PC, I would think...
Everything dropped drastically on Tuesday from Monday. Not sure why the overall drop, especially in movies that are not family-friendly. Didn't classes start on Monday?
Well, here in the UK VDT has now outgrossed PC as of 3 Jan, and it has only been out for less than 4 weeks. (See the fourth paragraph in the Guardian blog at http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/filmblog ... -christmas).
This is remarkable when you consider that it's opening weekend was about half that of PC. It goes to show that this movie has legs. Long may they continue to run.
Black Knight
Well spotted Black Knight, that is very good news.
Living in England myself, good to see it pass PC'S bench mark, now just need the rest of Europe to follow suit.

Only 70 Million left to pass beyond Golden Compass worldwide gross.
Also it has passed Percy Jackson Domestic gross, another fantasyfilm (based on books) released by Fox.
So Narnia fell another 28% on Wednesday to $564,125, for a cume of $89,372,797.
Everything else did too again; especially the family movies at 28%-31%.
I'm beginning to wonder if something else is at play here: At our local mall theater, I saw VDT during the Christmas Holidays in 3D at $13.00 for the adult ticket. When I went back January 1st, the price had gone up to $15.50! Almost a 20% hike in less than a week. If every theater had that much of an increase, the word is probably getting out to wait for the much cheaper DVD or discount theater, especially if there are multiple family members.
That same theater is showing the adult price at BOM as $0.00 right now. Trying to hide the hike there?

I guess the theaters would rather have 75-100 people at $15.50 in the theater than 150-200 at $10.50 (Who would also be spending more at the snack bars). That makes a lot of sense.
