Good news. My mom and youngest sisters went to see VDT for the third time today. Not only was the theatre (big theatre) packed, but the 2D showing of VDT was so packed that my mom and sisters had to sit in the front row, which were the only available seats.

Now, this is pretty remarkable. When I took my sisters earlier before Christmas, there were only about 50 people watching VDT, and the parking lot was hardly filled at all.

Let me add that this is the big theatre in Murfreesboro TN, one of the largest cities in the state (and the fastest growing).

I'm going to see Dawn Treader again on Monday, which here in the UK is for most people the last day of the holidays, so I'll be able to get a feel of how many people are still going and seeing it here. I really hope it's been doing well, because this is a very important weekend (as other people have said)! :-ss

In Italy, Narnia opened to $1.7M on Dec 17-19.
BOM just updated last weekend's numbers for it and it went up 52%. Its second weekend there it made $2.7M for a total of $5.5M, which is half way towards PC's final take of just over $10M. :)

I am nervous for next weeks numbers but I'm glad things are going well so far. I'll have to ask my friends if they saw the movie when I go back to school. I hope the did. ;)

I just went a second time, still a lot people for narnia. I was really glad. Busy day in general for my theatre, when i arrived there was a row waiting till outside!! I thought for a moment, not to go, because they're were parents and children everywhere.
I'm really hoping Voyage of The Dawn Treader performs better than Golden Compass worldwide (and i think it will). That would be a good lesson for Pullmann and his rants against Narnia B-)

I went to see VoDT for the second time on Thursday and it wasn't packed but there was still a good amount of people. Much more than opening night, thank God. :D
I go back to school tomorrow as does a lot of people around me. We'll see what happens this week. I'm still being optimistic! B-)

So this weekend's official estimate numbers are: $10.5M, it jumped back ahead of Tangled, but fell behind Yogi Bear. It was up 10% from last weekend and its total cume is $87.1M. :)

Still much lower than LWW's number, which was up 30% from its previous weekend.

If VDT can't keep pace with LWW's drops, then I think it will have a very hard time hitting $110 million.

well, it's been keeping with its drops I think, I knew it'd be impossible to match NY's weekend. A $110 final number seems like the most realistic thing to expect honestly. and that'd be $30m less than PC, which is great considering their openings.

Yeah it lost about 10 million this past week from what it would have made if it had kept up with LWW. At this point it has to keep up with it from now own to make 110 million. Hopefully it can do it.

I'm still confident it will make it past 100 million though. That's the most important thing at this point.

Narnia lost about 500 theaters this weekend, and still increased. I highly doubt Fox will remove any more theaters next weekend, so there's hope for good legs in January. I'm hoping for $110M also.

Internation numbers from this weekend:

Fourth was Fox's The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which played almost exclusively holdover engagements and grossed $21.4 million on the weekend from 8,095 locations in 68 territories.

That puts it over $290M worldwide.

It increased because of New Year's. From here on out, expect Narnia to keep dropping theaters- whether a little or a lot, it's going to keep going down every week.

Indeed. I doubt it will lose more than 50 theaters next week, though.

Thanks for those numbers, gstommylee.

So it just needs about 100 million more to reach 400 million worldwide. I think it can do it! :)
