I'm glad about the increase! Do a lot of people watch movies on New Years day? If so, then maybe that will be good for VDT.

Yes, Valiant. :) New Year's Weekend usually gives all movies a nice big boost. VDT should increase from last week.

This weekend is huge for Narnia. If it does really well this thing could hit 115. If not it will barely crawl across 100 million. I passed by the theater half an hour ago and it was packed. I stepped inside and asked the lady at the ticket window about Narnia and she said it was doing a lot of business. So I'm really hopeful for this weekend.

VDT will definitely reach and pass $100 million. Just a matter of when and by how much. It's shown failrly good staying power long enough to do that.

However this weekend is very important as others have pointed out for getting that final big holiday boost here in the USA. I've seen many movies perform over the years and VDT is unusual for a sequel in that it had a lower opening but stronger legs. Let's hope it carries on after the holidays in the same way.

I also compared it to another movie from Walden, Journey to the Center of the Earth. That took a while to reach almost $102 miillion and VDT is ahead of it by about $10 million at the same time period (21 days) and should pull ahead even more this weekend with more to go. BOM link for Journey's daily amounts: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?pa ... eearth.htm

Just looking at how the numbers are running right now, I wouldn't be at all surprised if VDT eventually passed PC's domestic total. If only by a little eensy-weensy bit. :)

Malfhok, you're the second person I see say that it can pass PC's domestic gross. (IMDb was the other place). I would love it too, but it's staying power has been due to the holidays. As everyone has said this weekend is important. But after this, how will it hold? Life goes back to normal and kids are bag in school. $100M is a lock, but to go that far up would difficult.

I'm curious when schools go back into session in the US. Is it this coming Monday or a little later? Also some very, very early estimates are out for this weekend. ERC has Narnia at 10.5 million in 5th place behind Yogi Bear. It's not a horrible number, but I honestly was really hoping for 12 or 13 million. However it's still early. The number could go up or down.

$20,000,000 more to go before getting to $100,000,000 domestically! :)

It depends on the school district and how many weeks they give for break. Some are going back on Monday, but I know of some that go back on the 10th...

They haven't updated the foreign total yet. It has been the same for over a week. And I know I went to a very well attended session of VDT since 19/12/2010, when BOM last had Aussie results.

I doubt it can pass PC's domestic total. I think it has better legs than PC, but a much smaller opening. However I'm sure we can hit about $115 at least, which while still being under expectations would make me happy.

Oh and thanks for letting me know MinotaurforAslan. That makes me happier! :)

So it looks like Narnia dropped about 1% on Friday. That is much better than pretty much everything else, so it should have a decent weekend number. I know they say it will make something like 10.5 million, but I think it will be closer to 11 million. That would be about a 15% jump from last weekend.

Next weekend is when it will drop back to reality. We will probably see something around a 50-60% drop.

Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

Yup, there were around 52-53 people at the theatre today. Which is good per se.

But last week's show at the same theatre at the same hour on the same day of the week was sold out.

And school in my district starts again this coming Monday.

53 people was better than what I saw on opening weekend, so that's not bad. :p

School starts on Monday for me as well and I believe it is for all schools in my area. ;)

Well, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader had the smallest budget of any film in the franchise :- (From highest to lowest: 1.PC 2.LWW 3.VDT), so even if it doesn't do as well, it doesn't have to have a high profit for Fox, so that bodes well for SC and the rest of the franchise. :D

Well, the holiday boost is reality too. :P

LWW jumped a whole 30% on its fourth weekend, and only dropped 40% on its fifth, so VDT doesn't look like it is keeping pace. :|

Well we know VDT isn't performing as well as LWW nor will it be able to. But it has made a good comeback from its slow opening and has showed better strength than most sequels. I think this will bode well for after the holidays also.

Next weekend's percentage drop will be interesting to watch. 40% or less drop would be very good.

It depends on the school district and how many weeks they give for break. Some are going back on Monday, but I know of some that go back on the 10th...

I know of some too that return next week. That could help the daily attendance this coming week. Every little bit helps. I want The Silver Chair. ;)
