That is disappointing, but hopefully it'll get better. I am a little worried, but I'm not in despair.

Keeper of the Secret Magic
Me too but eventually it'll start fadding hopefully it won't do that next week and we continue to see a good drops. Hopefully fox/walden will come out soon and mention the future of the franchise I'm getting a bit tired of this wait and see.
Yes, they haven't really made any comments on how they feel. Well except after the first weekend where they said they had saved the franchise.
I guess they are waiting to see the numbers, just like us. Oh, the tension!

Keeper of the Secret Magic
Valiant, i guess so but i just want them to come out and let us know so i can stop worrying about it and go on with normal life regardless if the franchise continues or not.
I don't think we'll know anything until after it comes out on DVD.
Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

I did some updates with the international numbers, based on BOM figures. Not all countries are up to date at the moment however. Two things though, VDT has passed PC in two markets, (though in each it still trails LWW):
VDT/PC/LWW
Bulgaria: $185,939/$145,102/$259,261
Turkey: $1,454,969/$1,326,356/$2,409,907
In Finland it debuted in 2nd place, bested by a local movie. It has earned $170,725 there.
Well, supposedly VDT lost 500 theaters at the expense Gulliver's Travels. If this is true, what is Fox thinking? Why did they plan the expansion of a movie that will die anyways? They must have had their eyes shut and ears clogged. That is an awful decision because Gulliver's Travels will flop no matter how much it expands, while they still have a chance to make a good profit off of Narnia. But it won't hold well if they keep slashing theaters.
Oh well, I won't lower my expectations because of one bad day. However, now I am truly worried.
Lets go SC!
why they would expand Gulliver's Travels I don't know. But Narnia is in its fourth weekend, it lost 205 theaters last week, and it's only natural to keep losing- it's the way of things.
You are right, don't lower your expectations because of this.
Its typical to see movie lose screens once they go into the 4th/5th week with those that don't have such great box offices. Had VDT do LWW numbers its first few weeks we wouldn't be seeing as much of a screen drop going into the 4th weekend.
Its just bad. Movies that are not apart of established franchises like True Grit and the Fighter are doing better than Narnia. Fox needs to market this movie.
Wanna know why Tron is still doing well? Because Disney is still doing tons of promotions for it. Ever since December 10 I havent seen a single preview for the movie.
Winter Is Coming
I just read at box office mojo forums that Narnia is being reported at 186m over seas so far. With some talk of possible 400m world wide .
The good news is, we surpassed Golden Compass already. And as of tonight, we should have surpassed Eragon. Eragon had a lower budget, but GC didn't.
We should hit the 50% point sometime this weekend. And if things hold up, we should hit the 60% point next weekend as well. Hitting 70% will be harder, though.
I do wish VDT had gotten more previews. I don't know why the sudden climb for Tangled. Or the flip-flopping with Yogi Bear. Some things I will never understand.
Well it's most likely that theater chains drop the screens, not Fox. It makes no sense for Fox to funnel money to a movie that has already crashed, and is in the process of burning. Actually it doesn't even make sense for a theater chain to do that. Especially since they make a larger percentage of the profit later in a films run. Maybe they have contractual obligations to each movie to give them a certain amount of screens at certain times. That would make more sense. If theaters could just switch screens around to whoever they wanted, then they would pry have given them to Tangled,True Grit,Tron, or the Fockers. Basically a movie that was doing better then the one they took from.
Tarquin,
That's what i expect was the case.

Well, those are good movies too, and of course they have the Oscar Buzz surrounding them- which helps loads this time of year.
