Since there is pretty much no movie to compare VDT to (being Christmas/New Years week), about the only thing we have left is to compare it the other films in theaters right now.

Basically to sum it all up, it didn't hold as well as most of the family films, but held better than most of the non-family films.

$69.7 already in the bag domestically. :)
Enjoy the look of that, when after opening weekend I was fearing the worst. I thought it might go like Eragon and The Golden Compass, I am SO glad it hasn't. It is also very close to matching Eragon's overseas numbers :) As for matching TGC's overseas numbers, that won't be so easy, but I won't rule it out- just because I don't want to, you never know... you never know. ;)

I actually think it has a decent shot of reaching that number. By the end of this weekend it will have made about 200-225 million overseas. It just needs 75 million more, and I think with the help of Japan, it can get there.

I think that VDT is holding good today, but I have to say that I am little bit disappointed that Yogi Bear made 800.000 more than VDT. Since these two films are considered as a family films to me it is the referent point for the VDT.
VDT made more than Yogi for the weekend, so I was hoping that this is the way it will stay. But to say again I believe that DT is sailing good :)

I can't believe VDT didn't open in Japan yet. Yogi's probably making a bit more because it's a cartoon? Definitely not in the same class of movie as VDT though.

Someone posted in IMDb, and I liked the phrasing. By the end of this weekend, VDT might just be Fox's highest grossing movie worldwide for 2010, passing up Knight & Day- which has $261.5M.

Not only has it gone past its budget already, and counting still, but becoming their biggest grosser of the year. And knowing there's more books in the series. how could they not greenlight the next installment already?! :)

I wish had a number to actually hope for. We don't know how much VDT needs to make for SC. That's all I want. But since we don't know, I just can't be satisfied with any numebr. :-s

I'm glad its doing pretty good though.

I'm hoping for 400-425 ww. Naturally that is a pretty tall order. It would mean that it has to over perform from here on in both domestically and over seas. However I honestly think that Fox needs a minimum of 350 million world wide to even consider making a new one. To make it a pretty sure thing I would think it would need that 400-425 million number.

Deadline is reporting Wednesday numbers:
Narnia made $3.3M, (going down $0.4M from Tuesday). VDT's domestic cume is now $73.1- which means it officially passed The Golden Compass's final domestic gross. :D

The following five movies placed ahead of Narnia:
1. The Little Fockers- Wednesday $7.8M
2. True Grit- Wednesday $6.2M
3. Tron: Legacy- Wednesday $6.1M
4. Yogi Bear- Wednesday $4.4M
5. Tangled- Wednesday $3.7M

Ugh... $3.3 M is not a good Wednesday. Narnia got leapfrogged by Tangled, or Narnia backwards leapfrogged Tangled (yes, I lurk on boxofficemojo). Lets hope this isn't a trend.

Lets go SC!

It'll probably gain today and gain this weekend. Wednesday usually tend to be drops in some cases. To be honestly I'm concern about next week though.

Well, that's disappointing. Hopefully it will have a solid increase this weekend.

Hopefully it ends up around 110-115 domestic and continues to do really well overseas. I still hope fox will green light SC even if VDT doesn't reach PC.
