Also, you must not forget that VDT lost some theaters, and just went up against a new release (Meet The Little Fockers). None of the others films that were compared had to face anything like that this on their second Wednesday.

VDT did quite well considering these things. Another thing worth mentioning is that Yogi Bear, and Black Swan were the only other films that had a better drop on Wednesday. And Yogi Bear didn't lose any theaters, and Black Swan gained theaters. So yeah, it was a good day. :)

Tron slid down to second place yesterday.

VDT is still holding on rather strongly, considering the new releases.

And yes, I will go watch it again tomorrow. Wasn't able to today due to my visiting a friend in the morning, something arriving in the afternoon that I needed to assemble, and a few other things.

I was really hoping that Narnia could leapfrog over Yogi Bear this weekend, but it's not looking like that will happen. Narnia is such a better looking movie for kids. Honestly if it were not for Tangled, Narnia would be a lock for 400 worldwide. That movie is like the influenza. It keeps hanging on. It's definitely effecting Narnia's overseas grosses. It's already been super successful. Time to die. Just my little rant. It's actually a pretty good movie.

bkey, Thanks :)

I saw Tron yesterday (and my truthful excuse is that my brother made me take him ;) ) There were ,more people there than for VDT, but the theatre was still largely empty.
I would conclude that people just aren't in the mood to see movies right now, however I did go for an early morning show, and its been a weeks since Tron was released. I went and saw VDT the friday evening it opened. So I guess its not a fair comparison.

Anyways, I'm glad VDT is holding up well, especially internationally. I wonder if the marketing overseas was better or something. Why do you think VDT is doing better internationally?

VDT increased +18.2% on Thursday to an estimated $2,975,000. This was the biggest increase in the top 8! I'm expecting it to drop about 30-35% on Friday, but have a weekend of around $10,000,000. $100M is happening! :D

Well, I hope that it does $100 M! I actually hope for more, say, $120 M. I don't think that it's a lock to finish under PC! I think that its 99% to do so, but if VDT does $10 M this week, then does $15 M the following week, with good holds of about 25% the rest of the way, how would it do?

Everyone here does realize the theater count drops Friday, right?

yes, we mentioned that. But it only drops 205 theaters. Not bad at all!! Very goo theater hold. It shouldn't hurt it in the slightest- given that it's Christmas weekend as well ;)

All VDT needs to do is average $3 million a day for the next 4 days to match LWW's Christmas weekend drop. Should be very doable. :)

Wow what a small drop! Who decides how many theaters it drops? Is Fox losing faith in Gullivers Travels?

I thought the 205 theaters was how much it lost to MTLF when it came out on Wednesday...

No, the theater count is for the entire week. It is only down about 6% this week, which is great for a wide release movie only in its third week.
