Makes me wonder what could have been if PC had been released during the wintertime. (But then again, PC is anything but a wintery movie. They found a way to make VDT's advertising all snowy without looking too ridiculous, but I don't see how they could have possibly done that with PC.) ;))

I don't know. I think it would have done a little better, but I just don't see it as a film families would take there kids to during the holidays. I think VDT is benefiting more from the holidays than PC would have.

And I don't blame you for not wanting to go through all those comparisons and calculations, but it would be interesting to find out the result.

I have to go somewhere in half an hour and will be gone for the rest of the day. I'd actually be interested in doing the calculations, but I don't want to get halfway through them and have to stop. If anyone else wants to do them, be my guest. :P

OK, I need to know which site is already posting Tuesday's numbers :-w
I've searched every site I know that might have this, and none has it yet. :(

Also, I will leave MinotaurforAslan for the domestic grosses, he's beat me every time anyway :p But please leave me the international numbers if possible. I love doing those! :D

Christmas landing on Saturday, might sort of hurt VDT, and all other movies. It's not gonna get an additional day for weekend, as in four days vs three days. I don't know how many families actually go on Christmas Day to the movies, if a lot do- than there is no harm for VDT as it's a family movie, and a Christian based story- both should help on this day. :)

The person who had the Narnia number listed their source as Boxoffice.com. I checked that site, though, and I can't find that number there. Hm...

But please leave me the international numbers if possible. I love doing those! :D

Those are all yours, Narnian1! I can't do international figures, the sheer volume of countries and numbers scares me. Too many comparisons to make and keep track of! xD

Russia CIS and Ukraine. These have just been updated. As of the last post they hadn't been so I update now.

VDT has passed PC's final gross in both those countries as well. For my full post:
http://forum.narniaweb.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2331&p=123343#p123343

Ukraine:
VDT:$1,272,051
PC: $1,121,175

I just saw and LWW's final gross was $1,170,518. So VDT is the highest grossing Narnia in that country.

LWW and Russia. I don't know the difference but LWW has two totals:
Russia: $7,800,000 Russia CIS: $8,098,706

for a total of $15.89M so VDT is the highest grossing Narnia there as well with $16,285,484.

I will update linked post with LWW numbers tonight. VDT is other countries which I haven't listed because PC's numbers aren't available for said country. I am only listing countries where I can compare to a previous Narnia.

The human calculators.

I think weather is a factor here in Southern California. 7 straight days of rain and flooding lately. Tomorrow should let up so a lot of people who didn't go will be going tomorrow and this weekend.

Also, I expect VDT to do better during the same week (next) that Eragon did. From Friday to Thursday (equivalent to this Friday) it made almost $15 million. I think VDT will do at least $20 million which should put it over $70 million going into the New Year's weekend.

From the New Year's weekend till the end of it's USA domestic run Eragon made about $26 million. If VDT keeps doing better, over $100 million is a real possibility now for the USA domestic total. :)

Yes, we have been getting quite a bit of rain lately but that alone shouldn't be making any significant difference. If anything, people are stuck in their houses and bored and would be more likely to go to the movies to kill some time inside. At least that would be my reaction to this weather.

I did ask at a local theater yesterday about the rainy weather and its affects and was told that in the earlier hours they had noticed a drop in attendance but not at night.

Maybe parents with kids are waiting but not adults (unless they are just plain stuck). Today I saw more road closures (due to flooding) than I ever have so that situation could be more discouraging to people.

I do know that when there are major snow storms across the U.S. it can have a noticable affect on the box office. In years past when that has happened there was a noticable drop in attendance one week for all movies and then a big increase the next. But that has been rare. :)

So this board is back to blaming the weather? C'mon folks ... it might have some impact, but not that much. Once again, there were major snowstorms the weekend LWW debuted to $65.5 million in the US. VDT didn't come close to that, even with higher ticket prices and 3D screens.

Elsewhere, the German and Italian debuts of the film were lackluster - in fact, the worst so far for a Narnia film:

Hopefully the studio will understand that there is severly inclement weather in A LOT of places. As in state of emergency severe weather- possibly considered a natural disaster.

So yes, one can blame the weather in this case. Things can and will pick up once the weather gets better.

Why are people complaining about the weather, at least in America? All numbers point towards the film doing great, at least in the States.

Christmas landing on Saturday, might sort of hurt VDT, and all other movies. It's not gonna get an additional day for weekend, as in four days vs three days.

One other thought I had was that even if a weekday Christmas means a larger weekday boost, it might shorten the holiday legs (school's winter vacations) by a week compared to a weekend Christmas. If they finish on Fridays, schools would usually get out 7-9 days before a weekend Christmas, but only 2-6 days before a weekday Christmas.

Didn't "Meet The Little Fockers" come out today? I wonder how that will affect VDT's box office. It is estimated to have about a 65 million five day weekend, although it has pretty horrible reviews so word of mouth may cause it to make less than that.

Also, Gulliver's travels is coming out this Saturday, but it looks so horrible, and is estimated to do very poorly, so I don't see that affecting Narnia much.
