Who knows, maybe 3D and its higher prices are actually hurting VDT since hardly anyone is raving about the 3D version. :(

Good point! It is definitely possible. I've read several reviews that say something like, "would have given it an A, but because of the 3D I'm giving it a B."

Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

I read somewhere that due to the good global revenues plus upcoming DVD profits, that it was certain that The Silver Chair would be made.

Hopefully this is right.

And VDT has now made more than what The Golden Compass made in the same amount of time. And that was 3 years ago and without a 3D release. And GC had a higher budget. OK, so I am getting non-Aslan approved thoughts now. But Narnia is better and will do better. Besides, this is our third movie.

Well, according to fantasia_kitty's post, if Walden Media said that PC was a wash for them, based on how much money PC made, I don't see how that could be said about VDT at this point in time.

VDT has had strong holds globally during its second week, but the financial success of it all depends on how well the movie holds during the holidays. Before then, the final worldwide tally is very difficult to predict.

Not helping the global numbers is the fact that VDT has yet to premiere in Japan, where fantasy films tend to do very well. It's going to be a while though...as in, two months from Saturday!

What the heck? Why on earth would Fox release the movie so far from now? Doesn't that increase the chances that people will watch a pirated copy?

Aside from that, the Monday numbers are in!

1. Tron Legacy $6,002,804 -47.7%
2. Yogi Bear $2,428,265 -48.6%
3. Dawn Treader $2,225,059 -39.8%
4. Tangled $1,988,674 -29.1%
5. The Fighter $1,619,806 -51.0%

Dawn Treader's domestic total is now $44,977,296.

Aside from handily beating every other film except for Tangled, VDT's drop is MUCH better than Golden Compass's drop (-65.5%) and VDT's Monday number is almost 3 times as big as GC's number ($800,000).

Eragon did a whole lot better (+77.1%) but that's not a fair comparison at all because Eragon came out a week later, so that figure is from Christmas weekend. :P

Prince Caspian did better as well (-7.3%) but again, that's not a fair comparison at all because that was Memorial Day.

LWW, the only really comparable film besides GC, also fell short of VDT (-52.6%).

And let's see, the only other statistic I can think to use would be the increase from the previous Monday. Golden Compass: -51.1%. LWW: +1.1%. VDT: +35.8%.

This is fantastic!

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is pulling so much ahead of The Golden Compass that they are hardly comparable anymore! (Despite the fact that The Golden Compass made more money on opening weekend.)

This is indeed great!

100 million is looking very promising right now, and I'm currently thinking somewhere around 110 is the likely place it will end. I really think there is a good chance we will see The Silver Chair folks! Especially if the oversea markets can continue to do well! :)

Wow this is wonderful news! I'm really hoping that VDT can still hit $100 million in North America while somehow hitting $300 million internationally. That would be $400 million worldwide on a smaller budget, which would probably be a break even point for the box office with a possible profit off DVD sales. But disappointed that Japan will get this movie until February; hopefully there won't be too much box office competition then.

Kids are out of school! This week and next week, as can be seen already that will help for VDT's final score. It's keeping up with LWW up to now, and has been discussed- as long as it keeps on track with the percentages (up or down) it can still pass $100m. But its holds will have to be as good, or better than LWW's. :D

Good job, Minotaur. This is good because it means overall that the word of mouth is posistive. If it could just keep building a little more I would feel more confident about VDT's reaching $100 million (Domestic USA/Canada).

But I think now things are looking better than last week. :)

Great news!

It might also be good to know that in Europe, most holidays will begin NEXT week. Oh, and those saying the weather had an influence on the domestic gross, here in Belgium there's a blizzard too. Not sure for the rest of Europe though.

All-over Europe snow has fallen heavilly, Italy, France, England, Germany, Holland etc.

The met-office here in England are telling people not to go on snow/ice ridden roads unless it is essential. So that is bond to have an effect.

P.S The snow doesn't look like clearing to at least christmass though ;)

That's the problem with winter release dates. The holiday boost is supposed to help, but then you have to factor in weather.

It's great to be getting some good news!!

My brothers and sisters and I have been watching the first two films in preparation for watching VODT in the cinemas BUT my sister contacted the cinema in town to see when they would be showing it and they said at this stage they won't be showing it unless Harry Potter and a couple of other films they have going at the moment do really well over the Christmas period. I told my sister to let them know that we would make 11 people if we all went so I hope that has some bearing on the outcome!

We will be devestated if we can't see it after all this time!!!!

I would like to point out though, that the town I live near is small and the cinema has never done well there - apparently they can't afford the contract for the film (unless they have a very good Christmas). Point being its not a major city cinema - its still potentially disapointing though, the Voyage needs all the help it can get.

I have friends in the city who sort of said they might see it so I think I'll be doing some emailing and make sure they did see it or jog their memory to go see it now!! :D

Do you love "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes?
If so you might like to see my sister's dramatization of this poem through her photography!
