Just found this. I think that's our final poster for the movie. This time, you can even see the Dawn Treader. And Reepicheep is NOT standing on the Narnia logo.

This quote from the article is somewhat disturbing: "We also have the poster for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I keep forgetting that this film exists." - Matt Goldberg, collider.com
I've seen that "poster" doing the rounds on quite a few mainstream movie sites in the last day since NarniaFans posted it along with 2 other images which also originated from the Italian National Geographic Competition website. here and here
Im quite surprised so many sites have run with this, as although i'm not going to say its definitely fan art (since there was another really poor photoshop poster a few weeks ago that apparently was actually genuine) but this really is such a substandard piece of work that i can't believe it could in any way be a proper poster effort form the Fox marketing team.
For a start, the main image is just a photo of the set as it appeared Cleveland point. It doesn't have the full mast on it (there were two further sections of mast that were never attatched to the actual set) and the sail isn't even the full design (again its just the partial segment of sail which was attatched to the set at cleveland point). Given that the official Narnia site has an incredible image of the actual ship with the full mast and sail, i can't believe they would ever feel the need to resort to photoshopping a set-photo like that. It just looks terrible.
Also, for what is allegedly a movie poster, it doesn't contain a date for the movie release, a tag line, any mention of "3D", or pretty much anything else you would expect of a movie poster. The only good thing is that at the very least its managed to get VDT some notice amongst the mainstream movie sites, though when it looks as poor as it does, you have to wonder whether its publicity we would actually want.
Oh wow, is this legit? Or not? I can't tell.
I like it better than the first teaser poster, but I hope it's not the final poster for the film. I was hoping for something that more closely resembles the posters for LWW and PC, with a collage of characters and Aslan in plain sight.
The water looks pretty fake...unnaturally blue. I really wish they would make the color scheme more "dawn-like" like the background on Narnia.com.
But at least we finally get to see the Dawn Treader! And some news is better than no news, right?
EDIT: Oh wait, yeah icarus those are some good points...I didn't notice the sail until you mentioned it. Ha, I guess I wasn't looking very hard. It's pretty obvious now that the poster is fan-made...but publicity is publicity, after all.

To me it doesn't in the least look fan made. It looks like another marketing poster only for the movie theaters since we are getting very close to release date. At the bottom the left side, you can see clearly that the trademarks for Walden and Fox are on there. I say about in another week or two you'll probably see these in movie theaters as a big banner or something like that. Some movie banners that are bigger then posters don't give release dates on them.

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll post here that I may have seen the official poster. I was in the backseat of my car and my sister pointed to a theatre and I could see a giant Dawn Treader poster at the front. It was impossible to take a picture, but I'll describe it as best I can. It followed the basic layout of this poster concept:

The Aslan picture was the same as from the theatre stand and, I'm pretty sure, the Dawn Treader is the same image that's on the Narnia.com homepage. The background is pale gold (looks very nice). It was too far away to see if it had any taglines.
^ I shall see for myself today. I'm going to a movie theater and come back in here if i see anything new concerning the new Narnia poster.

I can't believe that that is the official poster. The Photoshopping is so obvious and so amateur-looking that I can only hope that it is a fan-work. Honestly, it looks more like a toy Dawn Treader floating in a bathtub than it does a ship sailing on the ocean.
I DESPERATELY hope that's not an official poster. I could do better myself, and I have a limited photo supply. Surely the people at Fox can come up with something better than this with unlimited access to VDT promo photos, etc. I mean, I've been disappointed with Fox's marketing for VDT, but even I don't believe they'd stoop this low. Hopefully we'll get some confirmation soon.

I am pretty sure that none of that is official. That Reep matches none of the released images of Reep to date, including PC. The lion image is from another image as fantasia pointed out in the news story. And as icarus has said, it's an incomplete sail. Also, the coloring is off. The ship sits much higher in the water here then it does in the "new" image.
So unless we get official word otherwise, I'm pretty sure it's fan art and not official artwork.
You know, i have a terrible feeling its more than just fan art...
As i mentioned before, those images first appeared to us on the website for that Italian National Geography competition. An official-ish website, but then i've seen actual official websites (including some of the 20th Century Fox ones) use really bad Fan Art before, so no particular need to panic there. However yesterday i spotted a photo of a Narnia book from France, with a banner on it added by the French publishers of the book "Gallimard" which contained that same image:
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_noz8ls4h0IA/TEjIW ... C00253.JPG
And today i've had a quick look at the Official Narnia website for France, and they have a picture of that same book cover in the "Promo" window:
Honestly i don't know what to think any more. Given that Fox has some stunning images of the Dawn Treader at its disposable (such as this), it makes no sense that they would ever had to resort to such cheap looking photoshop mess of a set photo. I can only hope that this image has been produced by a company perhaps in some way associated with the marketing for the movie, but whom lacked access to any decent official photos of the ship and, and/or any knowledge about what the finished full sailed ship was supposed to look like, so had to resort to that.
But really, i am starting to lose a little faith in the marketing effort from Fox. After the promise of that initial teaser poster (say what you like about its lack of originality or lack of content, but it was clearly a professionally designed poster and seemingly part of a very focused marketing message) things have been pretty much all over the place. |There has been absolutely no sense of direction about things (i.e that theatre standee which seemingly just threw every character image they had into one big photoshop montage disaster, or the teaser trailer which lacked any sort of coherent message or narrative), its just been a mess really. We keep assuming that Fox are biding their time (no Comic Con etc) waiting to pull the big guns out of the bag nearer to the release, but what if this is as good as it gets?
If it really is an official poster than it surely is underwhelming. I liked the Teaser Poster much more.
For all that the teaser poster seemed overly simple and a blatant attempt to remind people of Avatar, it was easily a far better poster than this thing. I would bet money that most of the decent graphics-makers on this site could create something better-looking than that poster in an afternoon. I'm honestly starting to wonder if Fox wants this movie to do well or Gresham's reluctance to let them teen movie-tize it has caused them to decide to sabotage the franchise.
Oh dear !
Did the people creating this poster decide to cut the day short, for it certainly looks like it to me.
Well I guess there marketing campaign can only get better from here............hopefully.
There's nothing else I can say, (and I am usually an optimist).

I don't really think the poster looks all that bad but honestly i have never cared much about posters. It may look better in real life.
