The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King received a lot of criticism with multiple endings, though it was still a successful blockbuster. It would seem some of the Narnia movies follow suit. Some of the books have multiple endings.
The Silver Chair- the end of Underland; the great snow dance; Caspian and Rilian being reunited; Caspian dies; Aslan, Eustace, and Jill mourning Caspian's death; Aslan resurrects Caspian to the afterlife; the school bullies being dealt with.
The Horse and His Boy- Aslan appearing to Aravis, Bree, and Hwin; Aslan tells Aravis that He scratched her back to teach her a lesson; Shasta reveals to Aravis that he's actually Prince Cor of Archenland; King Lune and King Edmund discussing about what they should do with Prince Rabadash; Aslan telling Prince Rabadash he needs to accept the mercy of Lune and Edmund; Prince Rabadash gets turned into a donkey; Aslan instructs Rabadash what he should do in order to turn back into a human; a lot of stuff happens beyond.
The Magician's Nephew- Aslan telling Digory and Polly that our world was on it's way to become more like Charn (I think he was foreshadowing the leadership of Hitler and Stalin); Digory brings the apple to his mother, and she recovers from her illness; Digory plants a tree; Digory and Polly bury the rings; Digory and his family moved into his great-great uncle's mansion; Digory, now all grown-up, builds a wardrobe.
The Last Battle- Those who have died at the Battle of Stable Hill are together again; Emeth tells of his encounter with Aslan; Digory talks about a "shadow or copy of the real Narnia"; "Go further up, go further in"; King Tirian and his father King Erlian being reunited; the characters from Narnia's past reunited; the reunion of Lucy and Mr. Tumnus; Aslan has a talk with Puzzle; Aslan tells the seven friends of Narnia they have all died in the railway accident (spoilers). Aslan says, "The term is over; the holidays have begun! The dream has ended; this is the morning!"
Multiple endings is a very hard thing to do. Any of those could easily get cut out, but I'm sure we as Narnia fans want them all to be included. Which of these endings would you like to be included?
"And this is the marvel of marvels, that he called me beloved."
(Emeth, The Last Battle)
