Okay so we all know that minotaurs are going to be on the dawn treader, from the looks of it I think at least 2 will be on board... Now personally if you have 2 (or more) minotaurs on board the dawn treader I think that pretty much equals the weight of a dragon and the amount of food it would eat. Since they have like 2 (or more) minotaurs on board what's to stop them from taking Eustace for a while before he turns back to a human?
Personally from the books point of view is doesn't make much sense to have minotaurs on board... So I'm not a huge fan of it , what do you think?

that is a very good point, one I have thought about since we found out that there would be minotaurs on board the Dawn Treader!
with the minotaurs, they could just have all of them go to one side of the ship and have Eustace (as a dragon) on the other side. but logically, the whole boat would probably sink from the weight of both the minotaurs and Dragon Eustace! this doesn't sound right at all.....

I cannot imagine being the sailor required to bunk next to a minotaur.
Perhaps it comes down to how much a minotaur eats in any given day. If only a bale of hay a day or so - if hay is what minotaurs eat - I can imagine it as possible.
As for a dragon aboard the Dawn Treader? I don't see that happening, or I should say I trust that is not likely. Unless, of course, we feed the minotaurs to the dragon ...
Good questions, EdisK.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”

It wouldn't be my idea of a fun time either.
I don't know how much a minotaur eats, but I would imagine that a dragon would eat more than two minotaurs would eat. Do minotaurs have two stomachs like a centaur?
Still, I don't think they could fit enough food for the minotaurs, the people, the other creatures, and the dragon on board.

I'd thought about feeding the minotaurs to the dragon since they don't belong on the boat anyway. If they put a dragon on board the boat it will be too much

I'm really sick of the minotaurs. I'm beginning to wonder if they'll try to shoehorn a bonus minotaur into SC or have Strawberry turn into a minotaur instead of a flying horse. Seriously though, bringing minotaurs on the DT is absurd. They're big, klutzy lumbering things. What exactly are they going to do during the voyage? Scare the gulls off so they won't p**p on the tacky gold gilding?
I agree..what is the point of the minotaurs? They just dont belong on the DT at all. Why would they even do such a thing? Maybe one day they will actually stick to the book and the storyline..but very unlikely!
"We have nothing if not belief"
There really seems no point in bringing minotaurs onto the ship, unless the filmmakers just wanted to show off some Narnian diversity or something. Minotaurs wouldn't really be good sailors, and all that fur would probably make drowning a big issue .
I'm not sure that two minotaurs would equal one dragon in terms of food, even if they were about the same in weight...hmm. How much food does a minotaur eat?
...and all that fur would probably make drowning a big issue ... How much food does a minotaur eat?
That is a good question. We do know a minotaur is good in a fight. But can one swim? Interestingly, I've always assumed dragons can swim. It could be an issue of body fat on the minotaur too; not that I will ask one about how fat he is.
Indeed. What does the Narnian minotaur eat?
All this considered, I do like the minotaurs as cool creatures aboard the Dawn Treader. Is it necessary? Of course not. But they are cool. I can let it slide.
This may fall into the Thurston B. Howell III Syndrome.

Also, with all the food the minotaur would have to eat, what about the times in the story where they had to eat only a tiny bit at a time! The minotaur wouldn't survive!
But then they might leave out the bits where they can't eat much, which brings the movie even further away from the book!

All the world to ashes turning.
Well, we are assuming that the Narnian minotaurs eat like cows. In Greek mythology, THE minotaur fed upon young men and women. I suppose it's possible that the Narnian minotaurs are carnivores or omnivores. Still, that's a lot of food.
They would have to take a lot of extra food on board just to have then on board.(if you get what i am saying).
But the movie would've taken out bits of the story, like how Eustace stole some water and was arguing with Reep, and the other times like that!

I don't like the idea of minotaurs being on board the Dawn Treader. First, I'm not sure that minotaurs even belong in Narnia! Second, for many people VDT is about discovering the wonderful and out of the ordinary: minotaurs are out of the ordinary and they are going to discover out of the ordinary things???????????? Third, what is the purpose of the minotaurs in the story?
Do minotaurs even belong in Narnia? That is the first question that should be asked. You would think that, if three movies were made about Narnia with minotaurs having at least a minor important role, then they had that sort of role in the books. What?! I don't recall minotaurs ever having a noticeable role in the Chronicles of Narnia books. What on earth then are they doing on the Dawn Treader?
Minotaurs are out-of-the-ordinary and they are in search of out-of-the-ordinary things? Don't they cancel each other out? Out-of-the-ordinary searching for the out-of-the-ordinary isn't as exiting as the ordinary searching of the out-of-the-ordinary. My first statement is kind of the same as a frog searching for a frog or a cat searching for a cat. Such statements as these don't surprise you and are, in fact, boring. However, if I were to say that a frog was searching for a cat or a cat was searching for a frog, then you would immediately be interested. Therefore, after saying all that, minotaurs definitely don't belong in this story.
What is the purpose of the minotaurs in the story? I would like to take this moment to bring in what others have been saying about the minotaurs diet. Personally, I think their diet is one thing and their work load is another. If they eat twice as much as the rest of the men, but also do twice as much work as the rest of the men, then them eating so much is okay. However, if they are just along for the ride as a showpiece, as I have a suspicion they are, then I don't think they should be there.
In conclusion, I will only ask this, if minotaurs don't really belong in the world, don't really belong in the story and are just a showpiece in the story anyway, then what on earth are they doing there?

In reference to them possibly sinking the ship: I have to admit that I think a dragon would be much larger than two of them. Assuming that they're slightly heavier than cows I can't see it being much of a problem. After all mustangs in America are descended from horses that were brought over by the Spanish on ships as were cattle, sheep and other livestock during the colonial period. Secondly the probably brought over herds at a time, and I'm guessing that there will only be a few minotaurs on the ship, so I think history supports it as being physically possible.
I don't think I'll mind them as long as there aren't too many, the Narnians were pushed toward extiction during the original invasion from the Telmarines, and I doubt that their numbers could have recovered that quickly.

I don't know why Indigenous Narnians shouldn't be on a Narnian ship (Reepi doesn't have to be the only one). Why should Telmarines have all the fun ? I wouldn't mind seeing a few Fauns and Centaurs either.
