[Closed] Magicians Nephew: What could possibly go wrong?

This is a thread for all the atrocities Fox and Walden might possibly make. Sarcastic pessimism is encouraged. I'll start the numbers and everyone keep the count going. Let's see how many we can come up with!

1. Romance between Digory and Polly.
2. Aslan NOT shown as the creator of Narnia.
3. Any battles other than a flashback to the end of Charn or a scuffle in London.
4. Digory takes a bite of the apple.
5. Jadis's blasting spell works in London.

Who can come up with #6?

Seeking comic book artist, PM for details.

6. Digory never rings the bell.

A topic exactly like this one was made a few months ago, and it got shut down because it was labeled as "fanfiction". Don't write any dialogue and keep the points short and I think this topic should be okay.

I don't know if I like these sorts of threads. They seem to be all in fun (which is fine) but some of the suggestions have previously made their way into LWW and PC and that's not a good thing. It's almost like the filmmakers watch these threads and instead of doing all they can to avoid such astrocities, it's almost like they saw the suggestions as worthwhile additions (hence why they incorporated some of them). Disturbing.

This thread needs to be closed and deleted immediately! Seriously, it's not funny. If the Dark Island is the place where dreams come true, NarniaWeb is the place where jokes come true.

I hope the same curse is on AslansCountry.com, because their April Fools joke was that it looked like MN was going to be a faithful adaptation.

I don't think the filmmakers will use this thread for ideas. I think previous instances were just coincidence. ;) We just have to be careful not to let it become fanfiction.

I think, basically, the worst thing they can do is tone down (or completely take out) the Christian elements, and replace them with worldly or humanistic concepts. That just erases what the series is about, and it's what I disliked most about VDT as well. :(

The auditions give the studios the selection process for choosing(or shortlisting) wannabees whom they think can go further for a certain roles. I think they will need to have the right actor/actress in the right role at the right time.

That would be done by making Uncle Andrew out to be a big hero for finding out things scientifically, regardless of the ethics of what he did. Something like pre-dragon Eustace picking up all that gold without stopping to consider what is right or wrong.

I don't want MN to lose sight of the baddies' 'Ours is a high and lonely destiny' folly.

^^ They could also do it by having it be the kids who save the day. Aslan could say, "What can we do to help keep the evil away? Help us, dear children! Only you can!" And Digory can say, "I know! Plant this apple!" Or something along those lines. The filmmakers seem to be on a roll of making the kids the heroes, instead of Aslan himself. :P That's what I'm really worried about. :-s

I'm afraid that somehow or other Charn will not make it into the film, and that the White Witch will come from somewhere else. Digory's mother also worries me. What if she gets left out completely? :(

The problems with VDT were more to do with a basic incompetence in film making standards than it was to do with making factual errors of details from the books, so i'd really consider added battles and added romance to be the least of my worries right now.

In fact, i'd probably settle for any number of added battles or kisses if it meant we got a script that actually made any degree of sense.

It would be so sad if Digory's mother was left out! She's what connects the different parts of the story together.

I think they could very possibly mess up the last third of the film. I do think it will require some reworking, but I'm just not sure that they will come up with a good solution.

Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

They change Polly's name to Jill Pole so as to make sense to the Jill Pole reference at the end of Dawn Treader.

Thay have Rebecca Black sing the end-of-credits song.
