^Oh, so they stay another two years? Whoa, I've found another reason to believe that we might see Edmund and Lucy in SC (although it's true that we really don't know...)!
I haven't read through all of these posts with any great detail, but I just wanted to throw one random comment out there. Regardless of anything that Eustace said or implied, or whatever, there is NO POSSIBLE WAY the events of SC can pick up any time within a year of the events of VdT? Why? Simply because, Will P. has grown too much to make that even possibly believable. No way they could pass off the time gap for anything under a year without people scratching their heads and going "hmm".
As I said before, there's a number of reasons why Jill could be at the Scrubb's house that wouldn't disrupt the beginning of SC at all, aside from establishing the fact that she and Eustace are more acquainted than they are in the book. It could be their parents throwing them together out of social standing, it could be anything.
The only thing that could mess it up would be a large time gap between VdT and SC. If Eustace and Jill have had that much time to know each other after his character change, you lose the aspect of surprise at Jill's wanting to know why Eustace has changed, hence her longing for Narnia and a better place. There's other ways they could put that in there with Jill already knowing about "good" Eustace, but it does change things a bit.
I think they will still make it less than a year - and just maybe 6 months? It reminds me of all the growing Skandar did both in LWW and before PC - it was evident he was more than a year older physically, but the film told us to accept it was one year, so we did.
If we are told that Jill's family had a social contact with the Scrubbs, I could bear it - with Jill not being someone Eustace liked having to be polite to, and watched her be bullied at school. They hardly knew each other because they managed to keep distant during family visits. I could bear that.
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
Fair point. But I do suspect that Eustace's first test of his new-found decency and willingness to help others will be if he has to provide Jill Pole with an update of the homework she should have done. As C.S.Lewis was wont to point out, it is the little day-to-day things that count. Such as the rude and superior way the unreformed Eustace would have greeted such a request, however desperate, in contrast to what we expect of him now.
I loved the little easter egg moment but then wondered why Jill was coming to visit Eustace, they don't know each other at this point in time.

I enjoyed the name drop, a terrific nod to us book fans.
If Experiment House gets changed into a Day School instead of a boarding school, I will not be pleased. Much of the value of the bullies is that their victims can't talk about it to parents at home each night. It's also part of the culture of English schools for that time and that social class.
So it doesn't seem logical for Eustace to be AT school right now - and therefore it's most likely that it's summer holidays (just as in LWW). So a social visit from the Poles to the Scrubbs, with daughter in tow, is acceptable. Eustace doesn't even need to talk to Jill, just sit silently in the corner while the parents chat. He could say a couple of polite things to her, such as "See you at school"...
EDIT:
I've just had a further thought about the ending - Eustace's voiceover about what happened. If Silver Chair is made, following on just a few months after VDT (as the book does), it will make perfect sense. It also covers as an ending in case they don't make any further movies.
We accept that Eustace in this voiceover is summing up the 'rest of the war' period with his cousins, and the fact that they never returned to Narnia.
This does not mean it is the end of his story in Narnia - he has another important chapter to tell. Going to Narnia in SC won't take any of our world's time, so it fits in easily.

I found it cool, as people have said for readers of the books you know exactly what's in store. But at the same time.....they're not suppose to be friends yet. I just assumed they do a project at school together-why else would she pop in? And I'm guessing they changed the boarding school to a public school or something because I doubt she'd waste her time going to the house of someone who watched her get bullied and did nothing of it during the summer. It wouldn't make sense during the summer because we never get homework here during that time.
Then again it is a film....just hope they make it fit right.

I loved the name drop and Eustace's smile. I think it showed he was ready to show Jill he's changed by Aslan! I would have like that if Aslan had put Eustace in the water right after taking the scales off because Acts 2:38 says "Repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins and gift of Holy Spirit" and that means you become a Christian when baptised. I do hope they make Silver chair. I want to see Jill's reactions to his change and more of how he's changed and how awesome he is in Last Battle. I am glad for the name drop because it leads to the next movie adn Eustace's smile showed the change already. Love how Edmund walked beside him when they were walking out!

I liked it! I had to grin at her be mentioned.
NarniaPolly913 is my Narniaweb sibling!!!! hurrah!
I loved it, but I was like, "Wait Jill and Eustace are not friends at this point."
But then I also thought:
They never say that they're friends; only that Jill is there to see him. Could be that their parents are social friends and think it would be a good idea that their children keep each other company, although they don't realize how much Eustace torments Jill. It's not insensible at all. The sort of parents that would send their children to the type of school that the Experimental House was would probably want their children to fraternize with each other rather than "uncultured folk", regardless of their kid's personalities and character.
It made me grin as well.

I caught that! And it really made me happy. I actually didn't stop to think about why Jill would be visiting Eustace, I was too excited to hear her name brought up. I was thinking about that one quote from...oh, I forget who in the productions said it, but they were talking about how they set things up for SC. And I was wondering how drastic of a set-up it would be. But the mention of Jill's name and Aslan's hinting that Eustace would come back was enough to set things up quite nicely.
They wouldn't be dropping those hints unless they were fairly sure SC was going to be made, right? (Hey, I can hope. )

I loved it! For me, personally, it just made me even more anxious to see the Silver Chair on the screen! (if it does get made, which I really hope it does)
