Hey All,
I found this on the Walden Media Newsletter ( http://www.walden.com/site/movie/the_chronicles_of_narnia_the_voyage_of_the_dawn_treader/?utm_source=MailingList&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Newsletter_July2010 ).
In this new installment of the blockbuster “The Chronicles of Narnia” motion picture franchise, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their cousin Eustace, their royal friend King Caspian, and a warrior mouse named Reepicheep, find themselves swallowed into a painting and on to the Dawn Treader. Their mission – on which rests the fate of Narnia itself – takes the courageous voyagers to mysterious islands and a river that turns to gold, to fateful confrontations with magical creatures and sinister enemies, and to a reunion with their friend and protector, the “Great Lion” Aslan.
.
Observe the last part:
"Their mission – on which rests the fate of Narnia itself – takes the courageous voyagers to mysterious islands and a river that turns to gold, to fateful confrontations with magical creatures and sinister enemies, and to a reunion with their friend and protector, the “Great Lion” Aslan"
A river that turns to gold... fateful confrontations with magical creatures and sinister enemies? That sounds a little... different. And we's loyalists. Conservatives who don't like change stamps foot.
Will this be as loyal as we may have guessed?

I think that maybe they are just miswording somethings. I mean, who cares if it's a river instead of a pond that turns things into gold? At least it's not a volcano that spews liquid gold!
"I'm a beast I am, and a Badger what's more. We don't change. We hold on. I say great good will come of it... And we beasts remember, even if Dwarfs forget, that Narnia was never right except when a son of Adam was King." -Trufflehunter
Ah, yes, the new synopsis. The "fateful confrontations with magical creatures and sinister enemies" bit is typical synopsis wording. I wouldn't worry about it too much. What I've been wondering is why they put "Great Lion" in quotation marks. Are they hinting that Aslan will not always appear as a lion?
Will this be as loyal as we may have guessed?
I'm not sure what you mean by loyal. We know changes have been made (rather significant ones I think). We know islands have been moved around and combined; a fight sequence at the Lone Islands is almost guaranteed; the White Witch appears ( ); and a number of other things. If by loyal you mean closer to the book, I say no, I don't think so. But the jury will remain out until we actually see the movie.
Tu wu, tu wu, too true. I am glad it's not a volcano, though a pool would have been better.
Yes, those things are inevitable. So I guess this news wasn't breakthrough. Though it is interesting, especially because it's from the maker.

I think the synopsis writer needs to head back to college and retake English 101. Seriously, "river that turns to gold"? Try "river that turns things to gold". Are there no editors that proofread these things?

I agree, unless of course a river of water turns into a river of gold. Kind of a twist on water changing to blood. They definitely need a proofreader - preferably one who knows something about the book. I find it hard to take anything seriously in a synopsis that says that Caspian and Reepicheep get swallowed into the picture. I read it again noticed it also implies they get swallowed on to the boot itself. I'm not sure how one gets swallowed on to something.

Exactly, Patterwig's Pal, that was why I thought it was weird. Either the writers need to re-take English 101, or the movie truly would be WAY off and the river would turn to flowing gold, or something. And in the case of Caspian and Reepicheep getting sucked into the painting, that was most definitely a typo. Let's hope they are both typos.
