The script would be re-written and all those awful cringe-worthy lines would be taken out...and Coriakin's speech would be very different...

I would have shown Ramandu.
No, make that, I would have shown Caspian and Lilliandil together holding hands at the end. More definite. The spark is there- but they need to cement it more.
ooh, yeah, that too. That really bothered me. It's Ramandu's island, how come we don't meet Ramandu? Not even once?
Either make the movie longer or drop the "high" from high king and queen or keep Eustace on the ground during his undragoning.

If i could change one thing the film wood be 10 to 15 minutes longer.
GET RID OF THE GREEN MIST there are a host of other things that I would like to change, but if I could just get the green mist out I would be happy. It would also help to get rid of the seven swords thing, cause what is the point of gathering the seven swords if you don't have any green mist to destroy?

I would've loved to see a scene between Edmund and Eustace after the un-dragoning.
The only thing that absolutly NEEDED to be changed in the movie was the script.
Of course a better director, composer, and editor wouldnt have been so bad either, but I can't be too picky.
Winter Is Coming
As much as the green mist was somewhat of an unnecessary addition, I found something that irritated me much more. I'd edit out the 'Lucy-is-the-best-and-older-sister-to-Gael' thread.
Now, don't get me wrong - Gael was actually a good touch, a very fresh and interesting way to introduce Rhince, this I loved. But the way they made her solely to build Lucy's character... yuk. They should have given her then at least one interaction with both Caspian and Edmund. It annoyed me beyond words how they forcefully squeezed Lucy to as many roles as possible and making her be the best - Lucy isn't an older sister, she's not the character of an older sister, and it felt very awkward for me, and plain annoying and made me like Lucy even less.
AND I think this time could have been faaaar better spent either developing Lilliandil's character (she had no personality! Actually, the only character kept book-like if you think about it ), or, even better, bringing Ramandu in and putting the 'Coriakin is a fallen star' line which always gave me pleasant chills in the book
It's Ramandu's island, how come we don't meet Ramandu? Not even once?
- exactly...
Other than that, I'd change nothing, I enjoyed the film immensely as it was!

If I can change one thing I'd add the Caspian/Lilliandil romance in the first script into this movie! They could have seriously done Caspian/Lilliandil better than that in the final movie!
Long Live King Caspian & Queen Liliandil Forever!

I wouldn't change anything!

I would have slowed down the pace of the movie a lot more. I wish there more intimate snapshots into the personalities of the characters, instead of awkward, forced lines that took the characters backward instead of forward. However, if I could only change *one* thing, I would pull Eustace's undragoning to the middle of the film (where it's supposed to be) and have the scene between him and Edmund. It would have skillfully slowed down the pace and caused the audience to sit back and think about the characters and the themes of the story.
This scene is so important in the book because it ends Edmund's arc and begins Eustace's. We see Edmund go from a traitor who hates his older brother in LWW in to a wise and patient king who is able to act as an older brother to Eustace. The relationship between Edmund and Eustace in VDT is actually quite similar to Ed & Peter's in LWW. They don't get along at all in beginning of LWW, but once Peter sees Edmund's change, he goes so far to tell Aslan the battle would have been lost if it wasn't for Ed. In VDT, the cousins don't get along until Eustace's undragoning. Once this occurs, Edmund is able to see the complete change in Eustace, and sits down and listens to his story with full patience and attention. In both occurences, the older boys of each story are able to see the change and respond to it in a wise and thoughtful way.
The scene in the book is just just a poignant and profound moment for these two, and it really sets up Eustace's redemptive arc that runs through SC and LB. Without this scene, we don't get the final chapter of Edmund's maturity or the first chapter of Eustace's. This was one of the things I was looking forward to most in the film, and it was probably my biggest individual disappointment with the script.
Also, pulling the undragoning to the middle of the film would have given more screen time to Will Poulter, who is arguably one of the best aspects of the film.

Narnian Heart that post was excellent! Also exactly my thoughts. You put them so very eloquently! The undragoning takes place in the middle of the book too. The redemption theme was a part of the heart of LWW and is very much also with VDT. That they didn't mine Ed and Eustace's relationship made me very disappointed about the movie in that respect too.

Stateofgreen, and Narnian Heart you guys are so right! My favorite scene in all of the Dawn Treader book is when Eustace and Edmund have their discussion alone after the undragoning, and I missed that so much in movie. I felt that they would have done it if they cut out the random plot and had more time in this movie to focus on the characters.
