I offer chocolate filled jelly donuts and ice cream to those folks badly stressed - chocolate has a mild sedative effect.
And I don't like chocolate so I don't even get anything for my stress!
Aww. Perhaps butterscotch? Mmm. Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream? I am flexible with requests.
It is going to be a long six months. Should be interesting here when the trailer hits.

... and I certainly have a good feeling about it. I am going with what has been seen so far by some folks (Tirian, Paul Martin, Kristi - Admins of Narnia Fan sites) I know very well. Of all those people, Kristi would not have held back if she thought it was not looking good. It will be a good movie - perhaps the best yet.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
We have another problem. I went back to look at it again and I took a real close look at the helm. It has the 12 horoscope constellations from our world. Scorpio, Pises, Lybra, and they form the wheel that steers the Dawn Treader on the 3D poster.
I'm getting nervous again, down right frightened.
"And this marvel of all marvels, that he called me Beloved, me who am but as a dog-" -Emeth
That doesn't look like the White Witch to me maybe it is just a really bad photo. It is her hair. There is something wrong with the nose.
We know Susan is in this one in the book. Maybe Peter and Susan will make a cameo appearance at the beginning or Peter could be in the scene that Lucy sees of Susan in the book. Who knows? I like the idea of them having a cameo though so that doesn't bother me. I think it is important to establish that our world seems real and by showing their older brother and sister and maybe seeing a little bit of that wouldn't be a bad thing.
I also don't really think Skandar and Georgie are good enough to carry this film, but i guess the story is Eustace's and while he is too old and too short maybe he will be a good Eustace for this film.
I don't think that photo of Susan is from the end of PC though. It isn't quite right. It is hard to tell the quality isn't that good.
Okay, if the lady of the green kirtle is actually green that will be too much. I know that is in the next film, but please no.
Ramandu's daughter is barely in the film, so i don't think she should be a major player on the poster. That doesn't make sense to me.
These sort of Cut out things always look terrible though, so i am not going to get worked up about it.

lol. Thanks.

Remember in Prince Caspian - the book? All of the books, really. C.S. Lewis had no problem infusing mythology into his stories. Bacchus, Silenus, and the Maenads? Minotaurs. You remember them. Fauns? Satyrs? All of them out of mythology. They all recognize Aslan as the King. The symbols on the helm, while not canon, fit acceptably into the overall theme of the Chronicles of Narnia. Aslan is at the center of the ships wheel.

After taking some time to sleep and think on it some more as well as reading some of the other comments, I feel a little bit better about the poster display than I did when I first saw it and posted. I'm still not quite sure I like it, but I don't hate it either. I think I'm fairly neutral on it. I hope the official poster is put together better (and lacks Peter, Susan, and the White Witch), and I REALLY hope they use a different Edmund pic...but I still have hope for the overall movie. A trailer could change that for better or worse. We'll see.
December 10th sure is taking its sweet time getting here.

I couldn't agree more, Cepp! While I don't like this poster, hey, it's a POSTER, it's not the movie! The obvious thought to me is that
WW = Dark Island nightmare
Susan = The magician's book
Peter = some sort of "going off for the summer" cameo
If that's all it is, there's nothing to be worried about. As cepp said, we've had many trustworthy people who are "in" on it tell us that it is going to be okay. There's also a completely random minotuar and faun on the poster. I think they probably just stuck as many characters on as possible to make it look more exciting, not necessarily because they have a big part.

I totally agree this is a safe assessment. If the cameos flow with the story and help it along, I am good with it. Peter and Susan appearing on the standee flows well for me - the characters are very much not emphasized, and this not unlike the White Witch.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
I haven't seen this much hair tearing and teeth gnashing since Tolkien Purists started having a conniption about the likely inclusion of the White Council/Dol Guldur in The Hobbit .
I'm glad folks are settling down a bit. Personally I think the display is fine. I like the prominent placing of Lucy. She always seemed to have the strongest connection to Aslan in the books, and the scene at the end of VDT highlights that connection and reveals a key theme of the books. So it seems fitting to me.
I think the cameos (Susan, Peter, and the White Witch) are a good idea. It helps to maintain the continuity of the stories for people who haven't read the books. Overall I have a GREAT feeling about this movie . Dec 10th can't come quick enough for me.

I'd have to agree with Valiant_Lucy and ceppault - although my initial reaction was puzzlement, I am really not that worried about this. Logically, it makes sense....I mean, why wouldn't Edmund (or possibly someone else) have a nightmare about the WW? And we *were* hoping for a Peter/Susan cameo, weren't we?
Even though they are on the poster, it's clearly a marketing technique and nothing more. Posters and other marketing materials usually aren't the best representations of the movies, either - they're trying to represent 2+ hours of a movie on a flat piece of paper. Not to mention trying to lure people in and get them to watch the movie. That's what this 3D display is mainly for, I think - the average moviegoer, not us. They know we (meaning Narnia fans) will probably go see the movie anyway, so we're not their main target. I think that the White Witch & Peter & Susan have become Narnia icons, so they know that will catch the average moviegoer's eye.
This has made me more excited, not worried. I'm so thrilled to see RD, and the Chief Dufflepud, finally! I have a feeling we have nothing to be worried about.
That said, ice cream doesn't sound half bad.

I've calmed down. Slightly. The main problem I have with all of this consoling is that it's sounding an awful lot like the rationalizations we made for rumors that the White Witch was going to be in PC and for the Suspian kiss.
I was really hoping that the people on poster design would start with a clean slate and do something totally new for VDT. I was encouraged by the teaser poster, because regardless of originality it was a step towards simplicity. Now they're just falling into ruts again--or so it seems. Blech.

Meh. I'm more able to accept Paul Martin's explanations now. But, still, it seems so horribly. . . odd.
I don't know. For my sanity now, I'll buy that Jadis is just for a dream sequence; and Peter and Susan are just cameos, but wow, this is a bizarre marketing style.
Oh, and is the fellow above Jadis Coriakin or Chief Duffle? I'm hearing both and he looks like he could go either way.

sweeet, but we have to make rationaliztions to some degree--it's the difference between hating the movie so much we can't even watch it once, and thinking "they could have done better but it's okay". Or at least that's how it is for me

Exactly. It is rather annoying! Although this looks more of the sort of big display type thing they'd have in a theater, not a poster that you stick up on your wall. So it's going to have to be even more eyecatching, exciting, etc etc.
I think that the White Witch & Peter & Susan have become Narnia icons, so they know that will catch the average moviegoer's eye.
Welcome to NW! I completely agree with you. We are the fans, we're already going to see the movie. The posters are for the people who saw the first two movies and are only finding out just now that there's another one coming out. They need something on the posters to remind people of the previous ones, to think "Oh! Susan and Peter from LWW!" etc.

We certainly do run the gamut of how these movies affect us. These two items did not really bother me. Make no mistake, I weigh in at the end of the spectrum where Paul Martin (Admin of NarniaFans) hangs out - a generous amount of artistic license is allowed. On the opposite end, the most devout purists have already refused to see VDT because of those two incidents and the "leaked script." Where we are in the spectrum and how it affects us is entirely personal.
As for artistic value and how this standee represents VDT, I am probably not the best judge. I would find a Velvet Elvis hanging in my room rather appealing - Rachel Marie would not have this, of course.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
Thank you very much, ceppault. I have opinions on the matter but I'll not discuss them here, or at all, probably.
Now that I've had some time to think over the poster, it's not as bad as it seems. Peter and Susan's cameos were a given (to me), so I was just a little surprised to see them on the poster. Everyone else doesn't look that great; they look far too faded. And I couldn't make out RD. Whoever the person with the hair streaming out is (many think it's WW, and I'm inclined to agree, but she doesn't look anything at all like the old WW) should not be on the poster. Overall, I'm not THAT impressed, but it'll do.
Production will probably freak us out by putting Peter in the trailer... Susan I expected to make a minor cameo, but PETER?!?! Hopefully NOT! And, along those lines, the WW will probably appear as well.
Has anyone seen any pictures of Pug or any of the Lords yet? I thought that we would see the Lords a long time ago! They're important to the story. At least in the book they are...
I wonder if the dream mentioned in Martin's report isn't Edmund's.... It could be Caspian's, or Lucy's, or anyone's, really. But it does make the most sense to be Edmund's.
