It's much better looking on the high res pictures, but I'm still not happy. This is the first Narnia film I don't want to own the official poster of.
If you ask me, an alternative VTD poster competition is overdue. This is NOT meant to sound arrogant or anything, and I'm sure the Fox guys must have given this a lot of thought but if this is the best they could come up with after we've seen so many great images of the Dawn Treader in Queensland that were worthy of making the cut, it's time we took the matter into our own hands. I can't wrap my head around the idea the Fox guys have access to so much official material we don't and they still can't figure out how to come up with a great VTD poster and market this movie like it deserves.
Well didn't fox recently do Percy Jackson? I was a huge fan of the books, and was fairly impressed with the movie as long as they keep it a stand alone, but they had some odd marketing. There was a boy standing in the water holding a lightning bolt. Now with the word "Olympians" in the title your next thought would be Poseidon and Zeus. We were sparred the cheesy tag line but their wasn't much too be told here except the greek gods were going to be in this movie, mostly the big two, and a boy named Percy Jackson (thanks to the title).
This is just Fox. Disney has posters meaningful, full of wonder and lots of giveaways, but fox is a completely different company, and a better one in a lot of ways. Come to think of it the only fox production posters i've ever liked were the Star Wars ones, and George Lucas made those.

@Edmund P: complete agreement on Lucy. I'm going to defend her look on this movie stand and the Cannes banner, even if no one else does [except you, of course ].
@Aslan: Caspian robbing the cradle? LOL. I don't think he's guilty of that! I also think a bit of salt-and-pepper may be the lighting.
I have no real opinions on the rest of them, but I think Peter and Susan's appearances on the poster match their VDT book cameos perfectly. And I never thought about it, but maybe Jadis does look a bit ghostly!
Let's all pray that future VDT marketing focuses on the major movie characters and the ship itself! I want to see more character posters!
lightning? is that what that brightness is supposed to be? I get it now!
salt and pepper? he's not that old!

Isn't it just spray from the ship? You know water from the boat dipping. You know what i mean.
There are no clouds in the sky. There is only the open sun and the Lord watches.
Caspian: No salt and pepper here, it's just the lighting. You can see the black areas on that side of the display are more like grays because the sun was shining down from my left. He is fully brunette, and that goes for Susan too!
Oh good. I'm glad. You did a good job with the pictures, by the way.
The other reason is, from the glimps we get of RD she looks quite young and I don't want to think of Caspian as a cradle robber.
I was thinking something along these lines too but couldn't figure out how to phrase it.
NW sister to Movie Aristotle & daughter of the King
How could RD look younger when we can hardly see her face? Plus her face is whited out from the photoshopping. We should wait to see more pictures of her before saying she looks too young.

^^ I was only saying she looked too young if Caspian had salt and pepper hair as Edmund P suggested. Not that she looks too young in general, just not 30s or 40s as greys would suggest Caspian was. But I don't think those are actually greys, just the way the light was shining on his hair, as Tenth said. I posted that before I saw Tenth's post.
Oh okay I'm sorry I misunderstood your post AslanIsOnTheMove
No harm done.
I never really noticed Caspian's hair looking like salt and pepper before. I'm glad he doesn't have grey hair.

Lol it's ok.
and it may explain why he is soooooo incredibly old by the time Rilian is born
it would. I was listening to the SC audiobook last night and I was realizing that Caspian is WAY older than he should be. Maybe RD and him had Rilian later in life...
Well Caspian is supposed to be what, 21 or 22 in this movie? I'm not sure how old Laura Brent is, but she's definitely in her 20's, maybe even around Ben Barnes' age. And I don't remember, is RD given an age in the book?
I really do think I see some grey hair. And it would explain why Caspian is so old when Rilian returns to Narnia.
220chrisTian: I don't know why everyone else (besides us) thinks she looks bad! I mean, she looks gorgeous in the Cannes poster and especially in this one!
bkey: No, I'm afraid we do not get an age for Ramandu's Daughter in Dawn Treader. I do think it's far to soon to be speculating her age for the film, though.
I think the 'lightning' is water with some effects - I'm pretty darn sure it's not lightning.
I met Georgie and Skandar AND saw the film in one evening.
No, she isn't given any age. In the book, she is constantly referred to as "girl" though, so she can't be that old. Or, at any rate, she doesn't look old.
Why should your heart not dance?
Overall, I think the poster looks MAGNIFICENT!
Lucy: Why the heck are you guys saying she looks possessed and all of that crap? She looks beautiful! Stunning, in fact. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, n?
I like Lucy's look as well.
