[Closed] How long will it take you to give up on the series?

I just had a thought. What if Walden does MN and someone else works on the other books? I don't know if it's even possible to have separate agreements for different books, or if anyone other than Walden is remotely interested in Narnia, but it would be fun to have updates on two movies at once. :D

I'm an impatient person. I'm 20 now and I really don't want to wait to see a sub-par Narnia movie when I'm 25/26/27. At this rate, if they get made at all, I'll be watching Last Battle for the first time when I'm 50. I give up.

I think that once their option is up that means they can sell to someone else.

To be honest and please keep your rotten tomatoes from being thrown at me when i say this....

I really hope these series are dead.

I'm just not having fun nor looking forward to future movies from this franchise since prince Caspian, I'm always worried with what they are planning for next. It's not plot changes I worry about it's more the character changes that upsets me. I really want a reboot to take place in 6-10 years from now with a team that will do the stories justice, someone like me :p hehe actually i really wont mind if Glumpuddle took a wack at the reboot.

I agree with that. I would rather have a reboot at this point after what they did to VotDT.

' "The time has come", the Walrus said. "To talk of many things: of apples-and ships- and an enchanted chair, of Narnian Queens and Kings. And why the franchise is at a standstill and whether we'll see magic rings." '

Giving up on the series? Never. There's always an opportunity for something. I'm not going to sit around and just wait though, in expectation for something to happen. "I'm going to live as like a Narnian as I can even if there isn't" another Narnia film'. But, the best thing to have is the Narnian books paired with my imagination- and no film can ever replace that, wherever the franchise goes. I do have to agree with DamselJillPole, in the sense that I'm not sure how much I would want the films to continue if the filmmakers are going to continue down the path with the likes of VDT. I'd be willing to give redemption in another film, but if they mess another story up, then it should officially be over. We fans might have to take matters into our own hands :p .

Yes, they can, but will any one else be interested?

Well i think they messed up the last two films so i don't really want them to have another go. I would rather they sell to someone else. I don't think anyone will be interested right now, but maybe in the future someone will start over from the beginning. It is always too bad because i want them to do HaHB and LB.

Still praying they reboot. I really wouldn't mind seeing it in animation. The same animation they did with Beowulf would be awesome. It would attract a lot of audiences in since it's the new fad a lot of general audiences love now.

I'm afraid I have to differ, even though I agree with you that animation would be a good way to go for a reboot. There are already lots of versions of LWW, including an animated version, and I don't want to see a third version of PC or VDT for a while.

If Walden does get access to new options, they most certainly won't be interested in redoing LWW, PC and VDT. If they do MN it would be just awesome as not even BBC has filmed this one for television, unlike LWW, PC & VDT. I'm far more interested in seeing the remaining four books being filmed, even SC, which has been filmed beforehand by BBC.

I'm an impatient person. I'm 20 now and I really don't want to wait to see a sub-par Narnia movie when I'm 25/26/27. At this rate, if they get made at all, I'll be watching Last Battle for the first time when I'm 50. I give up.

And since I am already 63 before we got as far as VDT, I don't want to be in a nursing home with no freedom to visit even a sub-par Narnia film before the next Narnia film is made. Nor do I want to see yet another rehash of LWW, PC or VDT. :p

Besides, I want to see how Walden would have portrayed Susan in HHB - if I am lucky enough to live that long. ;)

Not Walden. I want the Lewis estate to sell to someone else. I think their option is up means that they can sell to someone else. Though i am sure it is more complicated then that.

I agree. I do wish that we could see HaHB and LB. We always get to see the first few and then they don't continue. It is sort of the difficulty and the good about different protagonists throughout the series besides Aslan. I was done ever since PC which is my favorite book and i think they failed at it. There were some nice parts, but still a failure, in my opinion.

^ I agree with decarus.

Walden used to be my favorite studio when they did the movies "Holes", "Bridge To Terabithia" and "LWW" justice but with a few small changes, then they just began messing around with "The Dark Is Rising Sequence" and "Prince Caspian" and now "VDT." If Walden continues on these films I can't see these stories getting any better.

I agree that another animated LWW would be a bit too much, however lots of people today (especially general audiences) are not familiar with that movie, and most who have would probably want to see an updated animated version of that one. However I'm talking about 6-10 years from now they can do that.

I bet VDT would look gorgeous when animated in animation today. ;)

Sometimes we have to look to the Narnia fans website for news, such as this Mark Johnson interview, which, it seems, featured this comment:

“We don’t have a plan yet for the next one, but I would be heartbroken if it didn’t continue.”

This is my feelings exactly about continuing the series. Looking at the first three previous BBC films, I still say that at least the first two of the Walden movies were a distinct improvement on them, especially PC.

An animated version might be a good thing, even if it included LWW, since that way the films can be done in the proper time sequence without the difficulties of using child actors who are adults in two of the series.

I bet VDT would look gorgeous when animated in animation today.

Another version of VDT in a new series, even an animated version, would have to be done entirely differently from the Walden ones, and I happen to think the scenery, the Dawn Treader, itself, and the costuming were the strongest points of that movie, especially in comparison with the earlier BBC version. To animate a new version, you can't just base how the characters look, how the scenery is depicted, or the Dawn Treader, on the pre-existing movie/movies, whilst rewriting the movie script the way you want it. As Doug Gresham said last Saturday, filmmaking is a series of compromises all along, between what you like and what is physically, legally, financially and visually possible.

Otherwise, it would have to be Walden, itself, who could animate VDT to your specifications, or their permission would have to be sought, since they have the copyright on the actual VDT film.

Wowsers, it's been a long time since I've been on NW!

Um, I don't think I've totally given up on Narnia, nor do I think I ever will, but I guess, surprisingly, I'm too shocked or upset that there probably won't be another Narnia movie for a long, long time. VDT was sort of a let down for me, and I know PC was for other people (although I think it's pretty good, but hey, it's all cool; I know it doesn't stick to the book), and I guess I really don't want to see another Narnia flop.
Thinks to self; "I should become a movie director, and then I make Narnia again and do a really good job!" In my dreams....

Sorry it's been so long!

The thing is just because PC was better then the BBC version, which i am not even sure of because it has been awhile since i have seen BBC version of PC, doesn't mean that it is a good adaption. And i am very forgiving of adaption issues. It is just that there were major character flaws, with Aslan, with Susan, with Caspian. I like the idea of what they did with Peter though there were issues there as well.

There were just a lot of inconsistencies throughout the film as well as pacing and focus issues. These are movie issues. They missed the beats of a proper movie. And i think that those issues exist because they didn't fully form the characters properly. It is what it is, but i know that i have been a lot less involved with Narnia since PC because it is my favorite book and i was disappointed.

And i really did not think that VotDT was going to just be awful, but, in my opinion, it was. It just wasn't a good movie, but i was never happy with the director choice and the few times i would pop onto Narniaweb i was amazed by the things i was hearing. Green mist. Mysterious little girls. Ninjas coming down from the ceiling. Fighting on the Lone Islands. Glowing swords. Collecting seven swords like a video game quest. I only saw it once in the theater and have seen it a couple times since on video, but it is really unbelievable what they did to VotDT.

Though i have never gotten over the fact that Narniaweb made a joke about Caspian and Susan kissing on April Fools day many years ago and guess what they actually did that in the film. So after that nothing surprised me.
