Given VDT's weak opening, I'm inclined to think that PC was the down fall of the series.
Also, and this may just be the people I know, but almost all of them who refused to see VDT listed their disappointment with PC as one of their reasons.
I don't agree that they would necessarily make an announcement. Yes, if and when the various companies involved agree to make a fourth Narnia film, I'm sure they would announce the green light as soon as possible. At the same time, I don't think that they would make an announcement if they decided not to.
For a while we were hearing rumours that Walden had dropped out altogether. More recently, someone claiming to be in contact with Walden is spreading a rumour that they have shelved Narnia, rather than completely dropping out. If that's true, we may never hear an announcement, because they would want to keep their options open.
Yes, you are right, Anhun, about VDT's weak opening, at least to a point. It did look bad that Disney pulled out, and that might have been also why the marketing anticipation was so 'meh'.
But I think that Walden will be forced to make an announcement about their Narnia intentions, sooner or later. I'd be careful of rumours and what other people say without checking it out. I went to Walden Media's home page where they have a newsletter, but they haven't put on their website any new news since 15/8/2011. It is now 6/9/2011. I also found Walden Media's facebook page, and even without logging in, it is quite obvious that many of those who can be bothered to comment there are doing so because they are desperate to see another Narnia movie, Magician's Nephew or Silver Chair or whatever.
I thought there might be an announcement in conjunction with the release of the 3D Blu-ray edition of VDT, to maximise the moment. But no....., and now it is the end of winter/summer.
I have already given up. I had a sad session where I felt sad that they weren't making another movie and then I gave up. I even told my sister in college about them not making any more movies. Now, I just listen to Narnia cds and daydream about good Narnia movies.
I'm wondering too if there will be any sort of official announcement. I'm trying to think of any time that they officially announced a franchise is done and drawing a blank. It seems like most of the time, they just say non-specific things like "Pursuing other options" and never comment further.
It's really disturbing having no news at all.
Were are Douglas Gresham and Michael Flaherty?
Are they avoiding questions about Narnia?
How long does it take before the rights to adapt the Narnia stories into movies expire for Walden Media?

7 more years last I heard
On the bright side... by then I might have more movie-making experience

I agree that it was over after PC. All of my sadness and disappointment happened after that film so i had no expectations of a good VotDT. And really all along we were hearing about green mist and other such things that sounded insane but all ended up being true.
There are no clouds in the sky. There is only the open sun and the Lord watches.
I honestly do not know anymore about Narnia starting again anytime soon. It's been too long and i'm already giving up waiting. If it does continue we probably wont see another Narnia film until 2014 or 2015 or higher then that.

Hmmm... Interesting question. When will I give up? Well, I've already given up on Walden's current series. PC was a huge letdown for me and VDT was even worse. That wasn't even Narnia to me, anymore.
If in 20 years they make a reboot, I'll perk my ears and gobble every bit of information about it they let loose. But for now, if Walden makes another movie, I think I'll just sigh and sorta hope we get something that doesn't make me gag and cringe all the way through it.
Actually, in a way, it's almost a relief to just let it go. I still hold out hope that there will be a good redo though.
My main concern is more about... This place. What happens to Narnia Web if there are no more movies? We still have the books, of course, but this is a movie news site. How will no more movies affect the forum? Then again... Those who stick around we know are the true Narnians.
Seriously though... This is a dismal time for Narnia Fans. One way or another, nothing is going how we would like.

Wow...
A few moments ago...it hit me. I realized I had not visited NarniaWeb in 3 or 4 days. I had not even checked my NW email address. "How could that have happened??" I wondered. Shocked, I quickly logged in and clicked around, and found that I had missed...
Nothing.
That was a big moment for me. It's really over. It was a wild several years! Good memories.
Maybe, but on Walden Media's FB page... I'm willing to bet that at least 90% of the most recent comments made by fans involve something along the lines of "please make another Narnia movie." -> only one of those was mine
So hopefully they're listening... and if not... well I can dream. Besides I do have a few other projects I'm working on at the moment, so maybe in ten years I'll have the experience and the rights (Like I said I can dream) But yeah I'm still hoping, and praying, and dreaming, and remembering the ride.

Well I've honestly not been really sure what to think lately.
Parts of me are saying they will continue with Narnia, but we just have to be patient because movie negotiations can take a long time. But other parts of me say that they won't continue at all, and that they should have finished long ago.
I'm not really sure how to analyze this any further. I hope an interview with Michael Flaherty or somebody from Walden Media will be done and released. They will almost surely talk about Narnia, right? That's probably the best and only way we would be able to get an update at all about "Narnia 4", that is, if there are still plans for it. Unless we hear news that Walden has dropped the series...

You are the only one who seems to post news items successfully. I tried to post a 5th September news article here about Georgie Henley's new film role which has some interesting comments about Narnia 4 in it, but though I did the right things, I think, nothing further happened.
Walden Media hasn't updated its webpage since mid August. Mike Flaherty was last mentioned 25/8/2011, due to the release of a Walden/Disney venture called 'Holes'. And when I saw an online obituary, I even wondered if he is still alive and well.
As wolfloversk says, every time there is an article of any sort about Walden or Mike Flaherty, Narnia gets mentioned automatically, and 90% of the postings on the Walden blog are about Narnia. Douglas Gresham is nowhere to be found in the public domain, and it is as if Narnia has slipped into a great black hole.
Perhaps it is time to consider letter writing. Does anyone know what steps a film maker must take to get a movie greenlit?
Wagga, is that funeral article about the same Flaherty that does Narnia? It mentions relatives. Are those the same relatives our Mike Flaherty has?
~Riella
I seriously think that obit that Wagga linked is about some guy with the same name....if the Walden Michael Flaherty dies whilst in hospice, I think there would be more news about it.
Just Googling Will Poulter a few months back there was an article that he had died...but it was a totally different Will Poulter.
I think we're sometimes desperate for new news though in a way...that our eyes and ears perk up when we see anything that reminds us of Walden, Narnia, and future Narnia movies...
For me I'll perk up if it's something positive, but if there's been no new news for awhile I'll just take comfort in my Narnia books and CDs. (And hope that Will Poulter gets cast in a really good quality Narnia-less movie so that we'll get to see him act again...).
