Summer (or winter down in the Southern Hemisphere) doesn't stop officially until September 1st, the usual calendar date for marking autumn (or spring in my case). And winter down under, judging by yesterday's chill factor, isn't anywhere near over. emijoy, you said if you hadn't heard anything by the end of summer, you would give up. You still have almost a fortnight to go yet.
You're right that summer doesn't technically end until September something. However, you have to understand that, for me, summer ends at the beginning of August, since that's when school starts back -at least where I live. So, when I said summer it was synonymous with my summer vacation, if you get what I mean.
Sorry to get off topic, everyone.
It's understandable that people would think the series is over; at least for now. It has been an exceptionally long stretch without any news. If VDT had made $50 million more in the USA and had passed PC as it did overseas, I think they would have announced a new film already.
The fact that they haven't announced anything yet tells me that they are trying hard to figure out a way to do one more. But if they don't decide by the end of this year though, they might as well put on the shelf for a while.

There is definitely no "a" in definite.

I shall never give up. I'm stubborn like that I am still holding out for another movie!

I refuse to give up. I watched the BBC television series growing up. Now we have these three. I expect to see another round or more from Walden at some point.
Anyways... There's always the books.
i like that website!
Christmas is Coming so soon
but we know the True Reason for the season
I'll probably give up once an official statement from Walden comes out stating that they've stopped production on the series.
I admit, I don't spend much time fretting about it, much as I want the movies. But I won't give up any hope until we hear an official statement, from several different sources, that everyone is backing out.

I haven't really thought about if there will be a new movie, I am almost conviced that there won't be another movie, a little part of me has hope, but that is only a little little part, I don't want to sound pesimistic, but the way everything has been going, I feel like they will just silently drop the whole thing and that will be the end of it. Course everything changes under the sun but I am almost 90% sure that there will be no new movie (I shall be glad if I am proved wrong though )
always be humble and kind
I stick with Libby and skilletfreak! Never give up! You never know what the future holds. I'll be waiting for the next Narnia film to the day I die!

I just don't even think about it anymore most of the time. If news is announced, I'll be pleasantly surprised. If not, I'll gradually forget about it all together.
How much time will have to pass before you give up and start moving on?
I have definatly given up on the series. I used to be a big supporter of the Walden films but after the atrocity of VDT, my eyes were opened to how pathetic the franchise had become. It is now clear that the Narnia movies, in this form, can only go downhill in terms of quality and movie attendence. This series is dead.
I'll check this site every few months but I'm not going to invest myself any longer in a series where the people involved don't care about making quality films and good adaptations, where the budget is constantly being cut down, and where the fans have nothing positive left to say.
They need to reboot this series in 20 years (10-15 is too soon) so that they can give the next generation a good version of Narnia. And to shake things up I'd say they start with the Magician's Nephew, get great director, and don't panic about pandering to kids or teenagers.
Winter Is Coming
When will I give up? Around midnight, 9th of December, 2010. In the theater. Yeah, that hurt.
I have to agree with glumpuddle's hard but truthful assessment of the franchise. The series is over. It killed itself.
BUT if it ever wakes up again with some magician's touch, I will be right here, on it, saving my money for the midnight showing. Reboot, sequel, or prequel, Narnia was my first love, and I'll stick with it.
In the meantime, I have the books, the Spare Oom, the Hunger Games, and oh, Reality.
While I acknowledge that there is a likely possibility that there may be no more movies made in the series, I won't ever give up on it in the fact that I won't be surprised if they do make continue with it. I guess I'm expecting no more movies to be made, but if they suddenly decide to make them again 20 years from now, I won't be shocked. I'll be like, "Oh, fancy that, they got around to them again!"
I have to say though that I would rather see no more movies than see a mixed up, inside out, upside down, twisted version!! No matter how "good" they make the acting or how "fascinating" the CG effects, if they screw up the story, then it's not worth it!!

Reality? What's it about? Who wrote it? Does it involve swashbuckling mice?
After seeing a lackluster treatment of VDT, I don't feel the people funding and producing these films every really trusted in the beauty and uniqueness of the novels, otherwise they would have adapted them better.
While LWW was a decent start for the franchise, I thought its big financial success would convince the filmmakers to bring the future films even closer to Lewis' writings. Unfortunately the opposite has happened. And once Walden announced they would be pursuing MN next instead of the obvious choice of SC, my enthusiasm plummeted. I'm not giving up on the franchise, per se, but I'm also not holding my breath anymore.
And I'm sorry to put a damper on things, but I don't feel a reboot in 20 years will give us anything closer to a faithful adaptation of The Chronicles. If the industry chose to play down many of the Christian elements of the stories, what will they do in 20 years' time? I feel we'll see more truthful versions only if it's out of the major motion picture realm. There's too much money involved, too many people with other agendas who don't wish to value what Lewis wanted to say.

Mary Jane: Don't.
I just don't even think about it anymore most of the time. If news is announced, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
That's basically where I am. I have moved on. It's over.
Oh well. The movies were a fun and interesting distraction for a while.... but they aren't "Narnia."
Which brings us to an interesting point: The story of the Walden Narnia films is now complete, and we can look at the big picture..... (more on that in a future video)
I guess I'll keep holding on until they make an announcement. I expect news to come out at some point with the decision to either make another movie or not. I wish they could have done a better job with VDT, because I really feel it was the downfall of the Narnia movies. It's really sad because some actors were so great and I can't imagine anyone else playing that part.
