How would I find out how the VDT is doing in Australia and the other countries it has been released in?

I would just google it for individual news stories and use this as a reference for release dates and final totals.

We probably won't hear anything til tomorrow. Normally they don't release numbers until Sunday.

I've just arrived home from the 1.50 pm screening. The theatre was 2/3 full, in contrast to my previous visit to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. However, on that occasion it was the first session for the day, and people filled the theatre, even in the less desirable front seats. Today, empty seats were at the front, which was understandable due to the 3D effects. I don't know how the 2D sessions were attended.

It wasn't the first session of the day in either 3D or 2D, and the refreshments kiosk were selling popcorn and drinks in Narnia-themed cups etc. I also bought an Aslan keyring and kaleidoscope from the counter. Must be in my second childhood. :-o :-$

A workmate told me his brother had seen the movie and thought it was better than HP. So here's hoping. :D

Another way to find out how the film is doing is to Google Weekend box office Australia. There is http://www.valmorgan.com.au and webwombat. But as Fantasia Kitty has said, these sites won't upload until Monday which is Sunday your time.

We should know a little bit within the next day or two. I have no idea about the Indian box office results, but those Australian links are helpful!

Sorry if this is a bit OOT, but in Indonesia viewers' reactions to the 3D screenings are mixed. Book lovers find the movie satisfying (as with most everyone here), while general filmgoers find it rather boring, preferring movie 1 and 2 instead. I guess it won't do as well as LWW or PC here, considering that Narnia books are much less popular than the Potter series. :(

So where are you getting your information aslanscountry? Is this based off personal experience?

Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

That kinda worries me. It shows that sometimes what appeals to the book fans is not what always appeals to the general public. That being said, according to Box Office Mojo Prince Caspian only made $1,818,504 in total gross in that country. I didn't find any numbers for The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. So hopefully if it does badly that won't effect its total worldwide gross that badly. Also according to this thread on boxofficemojo.com it's doing well in Hong Kong. Or at least thats what people are saying on the thread.

Not good.....
Awe.
I want VDT to do well so that they can make SC, I would be okay if SC was the last one. it is my favourite book.
If there are only three narnia movies I will be sad. Four would be satisfactory, seven would be phenominal.

This is just based on the reactions posted on the largest internet community here. While it may not represent the exact numbers or anything, I think it gives a basic picture of how the movie is going to be received among general moviegoers (i.e. those who don't read books on which the movies are based). However, this hasn't counted children/young adult viewers, plus the normal/2D movie isn't yet released so things can still change. But I can definitely say that it's not going to be anywhere near the HP7 success.

Largest internet community here? If you mean NarniaWeb, you'd be incorrect. The majority of members haven't seen the movie yet and therefore can't judge it to that degree. I'm seeing VDT on Thursday. Should be good!

I'm surprised how many people have already seen it or who want to see it. It is when you talk to sales staff, people at church or people at work that you notice how many people are enthusiastic about it. Remember, people loved Narnia before Harry Potter was published. It seems also there are a lot of older people who want to see it as well, not having read the book in years.

The main difficulty will be that it is Gulliver's Travels that takes the December 26th movie slot this year, the day when the most people want to attend the movies. The church I attend is trying to organise a theatre party, but is finding it difficult due to people being busy with pre-Christmas preparations..

Sorry, I meant in my country. We have this super-large discussion board where people all over Indonesia can talk about anything from phones to movies to books to politics. The Dawn Treader thread isn't a hot thread in the Movie forum...the HP7 thread is still on the first page despite the movie having been screened for 2 weeks now.

HP is a moot point...it's a 6th installment in a global phenomenon. Of COURSE it's going to be a huge discussion point. You shouldn't expect VdT to match that level of hype or discussion among the general public.

The only thing you should worry about is how much VdT is being talked up against it's peers; Tron, the Traveler, and other movies coming out at that time.

Not only is HP the seventh film but there is an eighth and final film out in mid-July. Of course there is still going to be a popular demand to see the finale. I'd just be happy to see VDT do well.
