[Closed] How faithful do you think MN will be?

If Michael Apted directed it, there would be positives and negatives.
Negative: There isn't as much action. There were obvious major changes to VDT to add more action. But VDT has, even without fighting for the most part, more action than MN. Apted would probably try to change something to add in fighting. Most people agree they would be fine with a Charn war or fight at the front door, because it fits with the story. But if there was some sort of fight between Jadis and Digory outside the garden when she tempts him or something like that, it would be too far. She's tempting him psychologically and using his emotions and fear of losing his mother against him. You can't just change it to a battle of strength. It's an emotional battle to trust Aslan with the thing he holds most dear. If he fought, it wouldn't show an emotional growth.
Positive: Apted added the green mist to VDT to have a villian. Luckily, MN already has the villian Jadis and to a lesser degree Uncle Andrew. I doubt he would add a sort of villian. The story wouldn't have room for that.

Still possible that Jadis and Uncle Andrew will become the potential villains. But I bet that later it will have a epilogue or something following Jadis when she grows in strength and finally attacks Narnia, casts a spell on it and rules for one hundred years! Even though this story can't have many changes! That's like VDT feature, explaining what happened between PC and VDT during Edmund and Lucy's time in England: Caspian defeating the giants and then switch the stories.

Lucy:Do you remember who really defeated the White Witch?
Peter: Yes.
Susan:No.
Lucy:Do you both believe in Narnia?
Narnians, Caspian and Edmund:We believe.
Susan and Peter:Shut up.

I voted: nothing like the book! As has been mentioned above, there is a big difference between accuracy and faithfulness. In my opinion, a faithful adaption would have to be equally a satisfying film and also bring to life what is so special about the book. Honestly, I don't see exactly how it can be done. Often times, what I enjoy about all the Chronicles is not the action or even the drama, but the subtle joy of finding your way home, the ironic pleasure of winning a battle without lifting a finger or a re-imagining of a fresh and new world coming into existence and how evil entered it! Also, from a Christian perspective, Lewis sprinkles these precious stories with simple revelations that are food for thought for us all! "You shall have to let me undress you."

So, even if Hollywood did do it accurately, I seriously doubt their ability to find the right "Spirit"! Recently, when chatting with friends, one of them brought up the movie Soul Surfer and how amazing it was. For those who don't know, the movie is base on a true story about a Christian surfer who lost her arm from a shark attack and then her journey to get back on a surf board. Anyway, it was brought up that the real Lady would burst in on the set when filming the church scenes and announce emphatically that the actors were doing it all wrong. Apparently, funerals were their version of church! You see, they didn't know how to act. After seeing the Narnia films going steadily more towards the fast track of Hollywood mainstream certified, I have honestly lost faith in their ability to produce a simple children's story with sprinkles for revelation everywhere! 'The inside is bigger than the outside,' anyone?

I voted for 60%. After VDT, I would expect the worst. However I think MN has more of a direct conflict than VDT did (which I think was the main problem for the film makers.) In any case, it seems they would be fairly excited about doing VDT- a feeling I didn't get while VDT was being made. So, for now, I'm going to take the middle road and say "pretty faithful.
