icarus, could you explain this further? Do you mean because they've never been made before or do you mean because of the plot?
I don't think he means plot...I think he means series continuity. In a recent interview, this was Michael Apted's concern as well. There's a very clear and logical progression from LWW to PC to VDT to SC...but if they made MN after that, it would be an incredibly hard film to market because the only recognizable characters would be Aslan and (sigh) the White Witch. If they chose to make HHB next, and didn't focus as much on the Pevensies as you said, they again have to market a Narnia film that bears little resemblance to all the other Narnia films.
While the cool thing about the books is that they are all different and have wonderful individual plots and characters, this makes it very hard to market the films. I cannot think of a single major franchise that has dared do more than one prequel than Star Wars. (Maybe LoTR as well, but all they're really doing is splitting The Hobbit, one book, into two films.)
I agree 100% with icarus, and want to say thanks for that glorious post with sorta restored my faith I think we prety much od have to give up the idea of seeing them make MN, LB AND HHB, as sad as that is, but the silver chair had been my favourite book of all time since the moment I first read it. I practically NEED to see this movie, even if it's terrible. plus it would restore Walden's credibility somewhat, and it's not like they're NOT going to make money from it, just not as much money as the first one
Grief for the movies made me abandon narniaweb...but I'm so glad to be back!
Many thanks to the wonderful Lady Eowyn for making my sig/av.
I definetly think that they'll go for Silver Chair, since Will Poulter pulled out such a stunning performance. He will definetly be able to keep Silver Chair afloat. If he's in it,I'll see it, no matter how they change it Same with Last Battle...

And if Walden Media don't do Silver Chair, then i can't honestly see what they as a company are going to do, because they haven't put together a single other film which has been critically or financially successful. Someone less kind than me might describe the majority of their output as "garbage", but i'm not that person. Would they really continue as they are whilst sitting on the one viable cinematic property they own and doing nothing with it? I think they need Narnia almost as much as Narnia needs them.....
Thanks for your post, so encouraged by it. Walden does really address the family portion of the movie audience in a special way because of the Narnia films, so I'd hope they still would go forward with it in some way. I would even deign to say I'd like to have them do it for TV, though don't know whether budgets for TV would run any less different than for a big film. I couldn't bear it though if it was terrible....my hope would be that it'd be great and revive the second half of the books to be made as LWW did for the first half. I share your OCD tendencies for symmetry BTW.

As this thread is not discussing any spoilers, it does not need its own thread here in the "I've seen the movie" section. There is already a thread open discussing pretty much the exact same thing here, so I'm going to go ahead and close this one.
