The river god is definitely larger in the film version.
I like the Reepicheep one a lot. They both look pretty similar. Granted there's only so many ways a mouse can be visualized, but they have the same "look" about them.
Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

This thread is an awesome idea.
Every time I see that shot of Lucy and Tumnus walking away from Lantern Waste, I think of that Baynes illustration. When I close my eyes and say "Narnia," that illustration is the first thing that comes to mind, so it was nice to see something similar to it in the movie. I wonder if it was intentional? Probably not.
The interior of Tumnus' home also feels very similar to the Baynes illustration.
wow! even the VotDT ones are really close! I can't wait to see more when the movie comes out!

Wow, what a cool idea to do these comparisons. I've always loved the book illustrations and somehow it comforts me to know that they are so closely mirrored in the film. It's those moments that I cherish the most.
This topic is really cool. Some of the similarities are fairly impressive.
The Caspian & Edmund one from VDT is ridiculously similar to the illustration in the book, considering that it's probably a completely different scene altogether!
I'm also struck at how good a replica the Dawn Treader is of the book design, on the whole.
Trufflehunter's house is so quaint, bless - I want to grab a bowl of soup and join them!
One of the best things for me in LWW was how close it was to the books illustrations. All this stuff helps it work perfectly with the Narnia I already know. x
Yup, I agree. The movie scenes do compare very favorably with the illustrations. The set and costume designers deserve our thanks for a swell job!
PS: I also want to point out that Caspian has black hair in the Baynes illustration of him in Trufflehunter's house, even though his hair color specifically switches to blond in VDT (in Lewis' own description). So...the PC moviemakers can't be blamed on that count

So now that VDT is out on DVD and there are screencaps, I decided to complete the Book to Film illustrations from VDT!
