Strangely enough it seems the fears about Birdsong possibly interfering with the World Premiere of VDT weren't entirely unfounded....
Ben himself commenting in a recent BBC News article as follows:
"All I know is I have to do Birdsong that evening, so I'll have to find a way of doing the red carpet and then running here," says Barnes.

I'd have to say though that i'd still be very surprised if his attendance at the World Premiere was not a mandatory requirement of his contractual obligations to promote the movie.
I think that due to the unimpressive boxoffice performance of PC that VDT will have a much lower marketing budget so I think that few weeks before the movie release will be heavy loaded with promotion.
@icarus: Wow. You beat me. I read the article a few hours ago...
I'm getting a bit restless at the lack of news lately. This of course is my own problem and I don't blame Fox or anyone else, but I really need to share that. Time is going by so slowly and I can't wait for December for a number of reasons, including VDT! Normally "fresh news" keeps me occupied while waiting, but there isn't much right now.
Yes, I know, be patient, *sigh* I think I'll read VDT again. That should help.
And I don't mind Fox keeping the movie on the down-low as long as that it part of the marketing strategy. Let's just hope it works!

I'm also getting anxious and desperate for more news. I honestly thought there'd be lots of stuff popping up by now, but this is first time I've followed this type of movie so closely. You're right, Valiant, maybe it's time to read the book again!
Just out of curiousity, was more news coming out when PC and LWW were nearing their release date by now? I really wish an explosion of spoilers and such would come out, but then I'd be overwhelmed!
Not necessarily news, but I saw an in store advertisement today in Family Christian Books. It's a start! It's a mini version of the standee we've seen in theaters. You can see details here.
^ That's awesome starkat! I love how they are starting to promote Narnia as Christianity stories again!
I am getting down on my knees at the moment and begging for some more VDT footage like IDK some tv spots and another trailer perhaps. Please Fox!!!
Long Live King Caspian & Queen Liliandil Forever!
Jill+Tirian! Let there be Jilrian!
I think that it was a good decision for them as long as the movie still looks good and a lot of people still go to watch it. Considering Prince Caspian it was probably the best thing to do.
I posted something on the difference(s) between 20th Century Fox and Fox 2000 in the "Less Ads" thread. But maybe I should have posted it here. I'm not sure. Anyway, what do you think? Will it make a difference if Fox 2000 is promoting VDT?
Wait, when did Fox 2000 start promotion VDT?!?

@Trufflehunter: I think Fox 2000 has been promoting VDT from the beginning. But we didn't learn about them being in charge of this film until the recent DT screenings in New York and Los Angeles. All that is explained in the NW forum link I posted above.
Fox2000 were mentioned as being the studio in charge of production in the initial announcement of the switchover back in January 2009:

That said, i don't think any of us really took any notice of it, as most of us weren't really aware there was any difference between 20th Century Fox and Fox 2000. Even after reading the recent information from the NY/LA Preview Events i still don't entirely get what the nature of their business structure is, or even what the point is. Given that the films are still released under the same 20th Century Fox brand, i don't see why they require them to be two separate studio entities.
@icarus: I'm not clear about the difference either, but there must be one. I think this is the key bit.
Fox 2000 Pictures (which is a spinoff mini-studio of 20th Century Fox) was created to handle mainstream movies with the global marketing push and distribution that it gets from 20th Century Fox but without the same pressure that 20th Century Fox has to deliver a certain number of blockbuster hits per year. Movies like the "X-Men" series and "Avatar" were released by 20th Century Fox. Movies like "Marley & Me" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks" were released by Fox 2000 Pictures. All of those movie examples have been hits — just on different scales.
The two companies have the same "global marketing push and distribution" but Fox 2000 is under less pressure to deliver "blockbuster hits." Their respective hits in the past were on "different scales." So just what is that scale? There's a big difference in blockbustery-ness between Avatar and Marley and Me, X-Men and Alvin and the Chipmunks. Etc. So I don't think marketing, now and in the future, for VDT will resemble Avatar.
That said, what's the difference and why does it matter?
Question! Has anyone seen anything on Harry Potter yet? Because it just occurred to me that we probably won't start seeing stuff for VDT until after they start advertising for Harry Potter. And I haven't seen anything on the tv for either one yet (although I really haven't been watching that much tv as of late either )

Well I haven't even seen a trailer in front of a movie. And I'm suprised.
I was hoping I might see it front of HP (Tron's trailer was in front of HP.) Maybe Deathly Hallows is too dark of a film to have VDT in front of it. But they again had the Yogi Bear trailer before HP!!
