Josh, you see them as cringe worthy disasters, but if you had been born 20 years earlier you would have enjoyed them. Your expectations of films, battle scenes, acting, effects, etc, would have been quite different.
When you are making comments of this sort, please remember you are not the generation it was made for. (and um, respect....)

The sort of battle/fantasy/epic stuff you grew up on wasn't part of the 80s film convention. Fantasy and film battle is in a whole new era.

And, do I have to repeat it again? The BBC made television serials for children, not multi million dollar blockbuster movies for teenage boys.

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

Although I, for one, can attest to the fact that some teenage boys do enjoy them from time to time... B-) :p I guess it's a matter of opinion.

True coracle, when I was a kid it was in the late 90s/early 2000s not the 80s. But I still fail to see how that would change my opinion of the film. There are several films I love from the 70s and 80s that don't have as good affects as we have today. And there are films from the 80s and early 90s that don't have action that I love.

I just found it dull. The scenes were boring, executed poorly in about every way, and...it just dragged. I don't mind long films. I did not yawn while watching the extended LotR films, King Kong, Dances with Wolves, Titanic, or even Gone with the Wind (and I saw that at 7).

I don't think its fair to say that I would like the films if I were in that generation. I just really cannot like the films and I have a hard time understanding how people who didnt grow up with them liked them.

I will say I did enjoy the cartoon LWW when I was younger. I saw part of it 2 years ago and it was really corny, but I wasnt bored with it.

Why do people keep bringing up BBC's Narnia? I was so overjoyed when I saw the preview for the 2005 movie because I wanted to block those cringe worthy disasters out of my mind.

And I did see them as a child so the whole nostalgia thing doesnt work for me.

^^ Josh, me too!!!!! when I saw the trailer fro 2005 LWW, I rejoyced that I wouldn't have to watch BBC Narnia again!!!! :D

just my two cents.....

I mean, we all know that Aslan is the one in ultimate control of how and when people get into Narnia, right? So it makes me wonder, would be put Lucy, Ed, and Eustace in such a dangerous situation?

Well, the kids have been in dangerous situations before, battling with the White Witch wasn't exactly safe. but i think even when they're in dager, Aslan will care for them.

or have you forgotten who really defeated the White Witch,Peter~Lucy

^^ yes, that's right! I think the hard parts are to test them! and think about it: if you are going into another world, it won't be easy to enter it from a totally different universe! :p

I think it should be amusing to see them in the room, and then the room be in the water. I've actually had this lingering thought in the back of my head as to what it would look like if you dropped a room in the middle of the ocean =)) Can't wait to see it on the big screen!
