I bought the DVD on release day and watched it 2 weeks later or so. Back then, I noticed that something was "wrong" with the sea serpent scene. But I didn't pay that much attention to it.
Yesterday, I watched it again and payed more attention to that scene. I noticed that they left out Lucy's bowshot (loved the effects ) and at least 3 or 4 other parts of the fighting scene which were definitely in there when I watched VDT in cinema. And as if that wasn't enough they mixed up the remaining parts of the scene. That's why it doesn't make ANY sense anymore which is a pity because I really enjoyed that scene before .
Example:
Cinema: Edmund jumping down the bow. When he is on his feet again, he doesn't really react to the sea serpent facing him. Caspian looks at Ed, shouts "Edmund" and pushes him aside.
DVD version: Edmund facing sea serpent. Then you just see Caspian pushing Edmund aside (you don't see Caspian before + he is not shouting). AFTERWARDS, you see Edmund jumping down the bow.
That's just one example. There is no chance to be able to understand the scene anymore. Really, it's horrible...
Has anyone else the same problem with the scene? As I said, I watched it 2 times (once in German, once in English), but maybe only my DVD is scrap
Well, sometimes scenes on DVDs change from theater to DVD. I remember on The Incredibles DVD there was a scene we don't remember from the theater.
I haven't noticed much difference at all. Hey, it would have been cool if the scenes with the green mist were cut!
I only saw VDT in theaters twice on it's run, so I don't really know.
Thanks for answering
Yeah, I know that sometimes there are little changes from theater to DVD. But I think the scenes should make some sense after all
Yeah, I agree. It would have been pretty cool if they had left out the green mist scenes. Maybe it would have made even more sense than the theater version in this case
I don't know for I've only seen it on DVD once. But on the Blu-Ray version, those two scenes are back in. The one where Lucy shots the Serpent with her bow and the one where Caspian shouted at Edmund. The one with Lucy's bowshot is in! That's 100% sure! Didn't the arrow hit the Serpent's head/eyes or something?
That's cool, maybe I should get the Blu-Ray version
Yes, the arrow did hit the serpent's head. In my DVD version you just don't see the arrow hit it. The only thing you see is the arrow in its head (but I wouldn't have recognised it as an arrow if I hadn't seen the movie before;) )
Which region are you from? It might be cut because the violence control in your region.
I knew Germany was tough on violence, but that's ridiculous!
Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11
I think I've blocked the majority out of my memory, since I can't recall if those bits were in the DVD I watched or not.
Does one still connect Germans with violence right away? (I'm just interested since Germans usually are not that interested in history. So, no offense at all. Just interested )

I'm from southwest Germany, but I don't think it has to do anything with that .
Maybe there just went something wrong during the production process
