I think what you're quoting, Angelwings_The_Faun is from back when Walden wanted a Narnia movie to come out every year. But after PC poor box office, they're waiting to see each films success before green lighting the next.

"I'm a beast I am, and a Badger what's more. We don't change. We hold on. I say great good will come of it... And we beasts remember, even if Dwarfs forget, that Narnia was never right except when a son of Adam was King." -Trufflehunter

This interview suggests that Walden Media only has a contract for these four films...

It might do, but we know officially that Walden holds the rights to produce all seven. Hope that is of some encouragement? :)

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."

Another thing to keep in mind is that SC is the only one to have a main character that overlaps. Magicians Nephew has the witch in it, however they could pry work around the age issue with her. So after the silver chair, the last movies could be finished much later. Thats why i want them to finish silver chair so bad.

What exactly does that mean?

I think Tarquin is saying that SC is the only movie that has a main character that was also in VDT. (Eustace)

Let's take a recent 20th Century Fox movie as example:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine, had a budget of 150 million $, about the same as Voyage Of The Dawn Treader.

End results for Wolverine:
Domestic: $179,883,157 48.2%
+ Foreign: $193,179,707 51.8%
= Worldwide: $373,062,864

And now they're making 2 X-Men sequels, First Class and The Wolverine. Voyage Of The Dawn Treader will beat this performance. And if the boxoffice is good (though Domestic is a bit disappointing) then why shouldn't Fox make Silver Chair. They didn't agree to co-produce the Narnia Series, only to drop it after 1 single movie.
Beside they need a good Fantasy franchise after disappointing franchises like Percy Jackson and Eragon.

This is an encouraging post, although I hope Fox doesn't think that the next Narnia movie would drop as much as VDT dropped from PC. I honestly think that Narnia (revenuewise) has dropped as much as it will drop. Because realistically it will never drop to $0; there will always be us big fans that will carry the franchise at least to a few hundred million worldwide.

It is indeed! I've always wished they would make all seven, and I can see no one doing a better job than Walden. Sure, they've added some of their artistic license to the stories, but I respect that, and have never expected the films to be exactly like the books (which is where a lot of fans for a lot of movies get dissappointed). However, I would have to maintain that it is extremely unlikely that they would produce all seven, considering the slide downhill so far. At the very least, though, I have hoped that they would produce the original trilogy, the last of which is of course, SC.

The original trilogy combined Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader together into one movie, thus trilogy.

So you're referring to the BBC films? I thought you were talking about the books when you said trilogy.

Well, not really...the BBC versions were originally shown in short segments on TV, and they made Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader's combined length equal the length of LWW and SC on their own. So when it came time to release the VHS, it made sense to just put PC and VDT in the same unit.

They are grouped together, but they didn't weave the two plots together, so I wouldn't really consider it 1 single film.

The BBC versions don't count as films - they were made as half hour episodes for 6-part serials for children.
LWW had 6 episodes, PC had 2 and VDT 4 combined in one serial, then SC had 6. This is not really a trilogy, just three seasons of a TV programme.
