We all freaked out when we heard they were adding in the Lady of the Green Kirtle. Then freaked out much more when we heard they were creating a new witch.
But they said they removed her. However, it doesnt seem like they've drastically changed the plot of the movie from the interviews I've read.
So do you think its possible they are making Corikan a villain in this movie to replace the witch? I don't think I'd like that, but I actually wouldnt be too surprised if they did.
I just noticed he showed up in the trailer a lot more than Caspian or Eustace and they could be trying to sell him as the villain.
Winter Is Coming
No. I don't think they're selling him as the villain. Coriakin will probably just be made out to be this strong authoritative presence who may seem imposing but turns out to be rather approachable.
As for the White Witch, I'm not complaining. The Dark Island is a place where dreams come true. Bad dreams. It's very likely that Edmund has been having terrible dreams about her and that they've manifested themselves. The White Witch is very dead and defeated but the temptation to go against Aslan remains.

One word: No. Just no.
Nothing we've heard seems to indicate that. They could be trying to "sell" him as the villain for the purposes of the trailer - he certainly is a mysterious and intriguing presence in the footage they've presented, and will doubtless help to get people interested. But I can't see even Markus and McFeely doing that. And I don't see how it work practically.
As always, your ideas are quite imaginative, Josh, but I think you're off base here.

"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it."

Good point. Still it seems like they are keeping the unfathomable fate thing, so who is the threat in the movie? I mean it has to be a person of some sorts.
Winter Is Coming
I'd disagree - I'm not sure there has to be a villain per se. Everything that was said in the trailer that might lead one to believe in the existence of one was GenericTrailerTalk and could be interpreted many different ways.

Well there has to be a person causing trouble. The source of this "unfathomable fate" isnt global warming.
Winter Is Coming
The 'unfathomable fate' is obviously the threat of the Narnia franchise going down the toilet. Either that, or the wrath of a million angry Narnia fans.

Haven't they indicated that the Dark Island is some kind sentient monster thing? That's bad enough, but making Coriakin a villain would ruin the movie for me. Gosh, there sure are a lot of things that would ruin the movie for me.
So do you think its possible they are making Corikan a villain in this movie to replace the witch?
Um. No.
There is quite a bit of speculation going on as to what exactly the threat to Narnia is. This is formed from bits and pieces probably very carefully leaked or mentioned. We are totally grasping at air to figure out all the ins-and-outs of the plot changes. Seriously? We wont know much until it is released. Annoying, eh?
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
You and your crazy theories Josh.... lol.
Seriously though, i would have to say there is zero chance they are making Coriakin the villain for the story. I think the only reason he got a reasonable amount of screentime in the trailer is that he appears to be Mr Exposition in the film. Not just in the trailer, but in numerous reports beforehand, Coriakin seems to be the one who is going to set up most of the narrative for the adventure ahead - warning them of future perils, explaining the reason for their journey, etc etc. Most of his trailer moments seem to be of that nature.
As for The Unfathomable Fate, i agree with Bookwyrm - the biggest indication we've been given so far is that The Dark Island is the threat that is posed to Narnia. That it could potentially move/expand and eventually engulf Narnia, or something like that.
Icarus, you do put things so well, saving me from having to explain it.
I can also pretty well guarantee that Coriakin is not going to be a bad guy. They have petty bad guys, but because it's an episodic story there wasn't an ongoing evil figure; in this story there are several evils to contend with, some of them within the main characters themselves.
I'm currently following a locally made TV show about an island called "Kaitangata" (man eater) which also seems to have its own personality and is scary! The main human is a girl about Lucy's age...
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
Coracle, is this the NZ series you mentioned?
It looks interesting. Is it based on a Maori legend?

Just remember that if they are trying to sell Coriakin as the villain, that may not necessarily be a bad thing. When one reads the book, they think Coriakin is evil until they meet him. I believe it is in keeping with the book. ( )
Hmm, well thank you all for your responses.
Having thought it over, I think it would be more likely that Corikan would take the role of Ramandu. No, I don't think he will be Lilliandil's father, but Corkian could be the one in the movie that tells them how to awaken the sleeping Lords (assuming Ramandu's Island and Corikan's get merged).
After all if you remove Lilliandil's connection to Ramandu, there really isnt much of a need for him. So his actions could be taken over by Corikan.
Winter Is Coming
wow that would be weird if they had Coriakin as the villian. I can see him taking over Ramandu's role, though I would miss Ramandu.
