IGN gave the film a pretty positive review and felt it was the best in the series. Here is the link http://movies.ign.com/articles/113/1138130p1.html
Winter Is Coming
Actually, aragorn2, I can't say much more. I will add that pretty much everything that is distressing in the trailers is either a)not in the film b)not as big as it seems or c)makes pretty much complete sense when in its proper context.
I was very glad to hear that ~ thanks for posting, Lady Arwen! Ever since I began seeing all of the uproar on NarniaWeb over the trailers, magazine articles, etc., I have been telling myself that I should form my opinion of the film based on the finished product, and not on a few pieces. Whatever my feelings were about certain parts of those pieces ~ and I certainly had my feelings, whether for good or bad ~ I knew they might change given the proper context. I'm so glad to hear that a lot of the worries I had appear to have been unfounded, and I hope I'm only one of many relieved NarniaWebbers once the dust clears.
Off I go, counting the hours...

And here's the official PluggedInOnline (Focus on the Family) review
It is VERY positive!
They say it is by far the best of the three Narnia films.

Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

This one from the Miami Herald is pretty positive. Gave the movie three stars but I couldn't tell if it was out of four or out of five.
Thanks, narnian1! I guess you posted when my comment was in a stand-alone thread. When it got moved over to this one (thanks, Fantasia Kitty!) a little of the context of our messages was lost. LOL! But I think I get it now.
Ebert gives the film 3 stars, as much as he gave LWW. (He didn't review Prince Caspian. The guest reviewer on his site gave that one 3 stars.)

One interesting thing worth noting is that he thinks Lewis meant the Dark Island to represent Hell. One certainly couldn't get that from the book, but it sounds like the changes might give one that impression. (Not saying good or bad, just different.)
Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune also gives the film 3 stars, and is mostly quite positive in what he has to say.

USA Today's Claudia Puig is less kind, giving the film only two stars out of four.
Well, this review was on CNN this morning. It doesn't sound good. And it compares VoDT to Harry Potter and says it's not near as good as Harry Potter. I think the reviewer might be biased though.

I don't usually bother to read those types of reviews.

I should stop reading them. That one depressed me.

I only have my self to judge how good the movie is. I don't need some critic telling me how good or bad a movie is.
