At the Wal-Mart I work at, we pretty much did away with the movie displays.

Mine has too. It was just a cube up front. However, in the short time I was in the store, I saw a minimum of three other people picking up DVDs at that same cube that I did.

I got the Combo pack yesterday with the Blue-ray, DVD, and Digital copy! Suprisingly, I got the last one in the store. I guess that's good news. :)

I bought three copies yesterday (it was like $61).. Go me! there were two displays at my Walmart. One display at the back of the store in electronics. There were not too many copies sold on that one. And there was another display in the front of the store next to the cash registers. That one was half empty. I bought my copies from the back of the store since it was more full.

I'm afraid VDT might end up in the "significantly worse than PC" category. Yogi Bear only did about 10 million, and it had comparable box office to VDT. It could be part of the overall reduced DVD sales trend that I've heard about. :(

VDT is #5 on Amazon'z Movies and TV sales list, and has been in the Top 100 in that category for about 70 days. That's pretty darn good.

I couldnt believe what you just said so I had to verify, and you are right.. wow Yogi Bear hit $100 million at the box office after a $20 opening weekend. Well, lets brace for the worst, although VDT might get a bit more sales since its part of a franchise.

Would that include Blu-ray sales or other methods of recording films? Some TV's can download movies direct from Internet which must eventually affect DVD sales.

Sibelius has a point. VDT is much higher on the Amazon list than Yogi Bear. It's also getting a modest amount of chatter in the customer discussions, whereas Yogi Bear has almost nothing.

VDT seemed to be doing well when I purchased it at a nearby Target.

So when should we expect DVD sales figure to start showing up? Or they tabulated weekly, by weekend or how does that work?

We finally got our DVD display up for VDT this weekend. It looks nice, except for the reviewer quote which has a misplaced comma in it making the sentence grammatically confusing. Fox does some sloppy work on their advertisement. /:)

Well, the Numbers just posted the data for last week. So, to answer bandido's question, I think we'll have to wait another week to see whose predictions came true, unless somebody knows another source. And the numbers cover the entire first week, not just the weekend.

As far as a comparison to previous Narnia films goes, it doesn't look great. Tangled, which was much more popular than VDT, only made 50 million. So I'm thinking PC ballpark is about the best we can hope for, although VDT might do better than PC's exact number.

Went out and bought it (on Blu-ray) on Friday, showed my mother (the kids had the day off of school), and she bought it the next day. It was running almost non-stop over the weekend at our house. The kids couldn't seem to get enough of it. The display case was still 3/4 full when I got there, but I got there pretty early. The Tron display was at least as full, so hopefully it will do well.
