[Closed] Could MN be a reboot?

Do you think it is possible they will make The Magician's Nephew movie a reboot for the series?

It would mean throwing out the continuity of the other films completely (which would include re-casting Jadis and Aslan).

I don't think it will happen, but it's an intriguing thought.

Reboots: Batman Begins (2005), The Incredible Hulk (2007), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), Superman: Man of Steel (2012).

I don't see any possibility of it being a "Reboot" in the model of the films you suggested - there is no way they would ever ditch Tilda Swinton or Liam Neeson who are undoubtedly two of their biggest assests, and there is no way they would then go on to remake LWW as the second movie in a rebooted franchise - however, i do see that Magician's Nephew perhaps represents the best chance at a Fresh Start for the series, without having to go through the entirety of a full reboot.

As it is so disconnected from the rest of the movies, and shares very little in the way of direct continuity, they could very easily use the opportunity to change things up dramatically, even shift the entire tone of the movie towards the serious end of the movie making spectrum, but i think it would still be seen as very much be part of the current Walden series, rather than a full Reboot.

In many ways a full Reboot would be nice (though a sufficent time gap and the departure of Walden Media would be beneficial, as way to draw the line under the "previous" series) but i just don't see it happening.

I dont think it could ever be a "reboot" as you are suggesting glumpuddle, where Tilda and Liam are recasted, but I do think Magician's Nephew could be seen as a turning point for the duration of the series. I guess I was mostly thinking of in the ways of new characters, but at the same time, Magician's Nephew would have that too. I think audiences might be tired of "those Pevensie children again". Eustace was a great new addition, and I think audiences would love either Jill or Diggory and Polly. I think either Magician's Nephew or Silver Chair could "reboot" the series in terms of pulling in new fans and attracting more people in general.

These aren't movies based on some random comic books. Narnia has a sort of continuity unlike the thousands comic books per superhero with different storylines and interpretations.
I don't think a reboot is going to help at all, it's never going to reach the heights of LWW's boxoffice again.

That is an interesting thought. I highly doubt they would reboot right now though. I don't know if a reboot so soon would help at all Box Office-wise. It's way too soon. Even if there's a new cast, new logo, all that stuff, people would still think, "It's another Narnia movie- they just couldn't afford Liam Neeson and Tilda Swinton this time."

I think loosing Liam and Hilda would definitely bring down the movie popularity. Those of us who are Narnian book fans wouldn't stop seeing the movie if those actors left, but those who just enjoy the movies (like my aunt) might not bother seeing the movie.
As for my aunt, she loves Liam Neeson, and even though you only hear his voice, its the only reason she watches the movies.
Just like this TV show called SKINS in the UK ,they change the characters every so often and most of its viewers have lost interest.

I would like to see the MN, Im still not sure if i would rather it to have been before LWW and not half way through, or after all the movies. But the casting should be interesting.

You have returned for a reason. Your adventure begins now.

erm...Tilda not Hilda (that made me laugh :D )
I think that MN is being made because they really like the white witch and now that all of the original characters from LWW are gone from the main stories for the time being, they want to go back and make the Next Narnia film seem like another film like LWW (the most popular one so far)
But I agree with you NarniaHead369, the Skins cast changed so much that you never got chance to get attached to a character before they disappeared and were replaced by someone else who you then had to get used to :- it was confusing. That is what MN will be...confusing! Because people will be like hang on...isn't she dead, who are these people, what happened to Eustace...etc (If they havn't read the books and are expecting the film that shows Eustace returning as almost promised) So yes, there we go thats my view...

I would love if they recast Liam and Tilda. I'm personally tired of them. Some fresh new talented actors would be welcome. Though people are so attached to them it would probably be bad to recast, since they appear to be overall liked by the masses.

recasting Tilda and Liam????? I dearly hope they don't!!!!!!!!!!
why would they, anyway? if they recast, then the series is doomed! and starting over? rebooting? what for? what would that gain? they are never going to be able to make LWW as good as they made it the first time and it's way too soon for a reboot IMO!

please please, no reboot!

just my two cents!!!!!!!!! :-s

I know it's not a reboot, but if it was, I would think you'd boycott right off the bat for having the audacity to film in Chronological Order. :P ;))

I don't think its a reboot in the sense that they are starting the franchise all over again. However I think that if they do MN next, it might be to have a fresh and different approach to the films.

They are way too fond of Tilda Swinton to do such a thing. ;)

Sorry, this has almost no chance of happening. A reboot, at the soonest, would have to come say, five to ten years down the road. The current series would have to be out of everyone's minds (although it is to most people's :( ) to make a new one. I wouldn't mind that, and just make everyone over again, but to be honest, I'm too selfish to wait that long. :) :p

Lets go SC!

I agree. I was thinking over their possible reasons to make MN next, as opposed to SC, and I'm pretty sure high on the list is that they'll get to include Jadis without resorting to re-writing the story completely! 8-|
This will be the fourth movie in a row with Tilda Swinton as Jadis/WW included somehow. That lady is now as tightly associated with Narnia as Aslan and the Pevensies are! X(

On the topic , no, I don't think they would do a reboot at this point. Give up Tilda Swinton?! :-o
